A very interesting experience being at Old Trafford yesterday in the bio-secure environment for the 1st T20I between England and Pakistan.

I was one of only a few people who ECB very kindly invited to cover the match. They arranged for my Covid test to be done at my house a couple of days before the match and organised for the result to be received within 24 hours of the test.

Before the match there were some online forms to submit, security questionnaires and health questionnaires also which formed a health passport to ensure there were no health issues.

On the day of the match, there were strict protocols to follow, including limited entrance to the ground, ensuring all prior health checks were complete, an accreditation process, a temperature check, strict arrangements regarding seating, social distancing, dining etc.

I was in one of the executive boxes with only one other person, with a plastic screen dividing us and you weren't allowed to enter other boxes.

There was very strict access to areas in the ground for players, officials and media and you were only allowed to be in your allocated area.

The players were not exposed to the outside environment at all, and for them it literally was a lift from the hotel to the pitch and vice-versa after the match.

It was an eerie feeling being in an empty stadium and it took a bit of time to get used to it. But cricket in an empty stadium is better than no cricket at all I guess.

Brilliantly organised by ECB, everyone knew what they were doing and there were no hiccups at all. We were very well looked after and I was very impressed with all of the arrangements.

Well done ECB in tough and strange times. No complaints at all.

Do you feel that other boards have the disciplines in place to do all this?
