[PICTURES/VIDEOS] PSL should go head-to-head with IPL

Violation by icc is different.

So if ICC makes a decision, than PCB could take them to CAS.

In this case PCB hasnt approach any court anr itself will act as a decision making body. Its Corbin who can go to CAS if he is not happy with a decision made by PCB
Corbin broke the contract. In which court can PCB take action?

SA? Pak? India?

Or simply cry?

I have already answered this. In this case PCB would act as a decision making body and their committee or whatever passes a regulations related decision can be challenge by Corbin to CAS.

If you still dont understand, drop me a msg again, i can teach you again

So PCB will not fine Corbin ?

So IOW PCB does not have the courage to retaliate.
Courage to retaliate what?

This is not some fantasy royal rumble going on.

Every thing is done through whatever rules and laws are there. If PCB had mentioned any punishment during league sign up for such acts they will carry it.

What use is the contract if there was no penalty for breaking the contract ?

i dont know what the rules and regulations are. You can contact the pcb through email if you have any concerns

So as per you it is a possibility Bosch's contract does not have a penalty contract if he ditches the franchise ?

And if Pakistan does not take action it can be attributed to the fact that there were no penalty clauses ?
and if it does, would you spin another new narrative than?

There is no real need to follow any other league. Make a name for yourself. Why do we have to copy-paste stuff from other leagues when we know there is a huge gap in the system?

IPL is on a different level atm. PSL cannot match that. PSL should try to do something different so that players think twice before ditching it.

sure. same way you explained how CAS can get involved when it doesn't have jurisdiction in the matter and no ability to enforce.

:inti

So, Is PCB going to accept they are impotent in this situation?

Why accept, when silence provides an alibi.
😂

Why would a player of national team buy equipment from there when he gets a sponsor thatn provides them with free stuff?
Well multiple reasons:
1. Criminal tendencies.
2. The quality of the sponsored might be suspect, the quantity might be limited. (The things that one has to do to compete at the highest level with a budget that can't buy Kohli's protein shake. )

Hope the same happens in Chinnaswamy also for two three games and force the authorities to reduce the unbelievably heavy price tickets...!!!

But unfortunately that will not happen there and so many loyal fans couldn't attend games there because they can't afford that

Pakistan Super League Takes Big Decision To Minimise Direct Airtime Clash With IPL 2025

The Pakistan Super League management, in a bid to minimise direct airtime clash with the Indian Premier League, has scheduled its matches one hour after the IPL matches commence. Salman Naseer, the PSL CEO, said in a podcast that PSL matches will begin from 8:00 pm, one hour after the IPL games commence at 7 PST. The PSL will begin in Rawalpindi on Friday. This is the first time since the two leagues were launched that they are clashing in the same window.

Naseer said they had no option but to schedule the PSL in the April-May window because of the packed calendar earlier this year.

"It is not an ideal situation but we are confident that the PSL has its own fan base and will attract the usual eyeballs," Naseer said.

"The PSL has always produced quality competitive cricket and this year also we should see the same and cricket fans anywhere, at the end of the day, just want to see competitive, entertaining matches," he said.

He said that since the PSL was in its 10th year, a number of new things have been added to make the broadcast quality top notch.

Naseer added that one advantage of having the PSL in the same window as the IPL was that the franchises had been able to sign some reputed overseas stars, who went unsold in the IPL auction.

He also said that the PSL had got queries from interested parties on buying two new teams that would be added to the tournament by next year.

Asked about the rocky relationship between some of the franchise owners and the PSL management, some of whom had publicly lashed out at the PCB for its handling of the league, Naseer said it was not appropriate for anyone to wash dirty linen in public.

"Look we would think that all franchises have benefited from their association with the PSL over the years. But we also feel that instead of going public it would be best if they spoke and communicated to us directly on any issues they might have." Naseer said all franchise owners now would be given revised fees for the next 10 years and all had the right to accept the PCB offer or decide otherwise.

Question: If the PSL happens in the same window as the IPL, and as a British citizen you're eligible for the IPL, would you choose the IPL?

Muhammad Amir: Honestly, if I get the opportunity, I'll definitely play in the IPL. I'm saying this openly

:kp

Today IPL game was so boring

We have lost out on the Australian, New Zealand, Carribean and Middle East broadcaster by clashing with the IPL. Fox Sports (Australia), Sky Sports (New Zealand), Flow Sports (Carribean) and a Middle East broadcaster did not get the PSL rights this time.

PCB feels loosing out on foreign broadcast revenue is not significant

Today IPL game was so boring
Players don't care about boring/exciting. You won't see so many footballers in their prime years playing in Saudi league if that was the case. Moreover, all these claims of PSL having higher level of cricket and IPL is boring seems a case of sour grapes rather than a cricketing opinion to me. I am no IPL fan by the way, old school test cricket nerd here.

It is a good idea. When IPL match finishes Indians will watch this. You can see uptick of activity form Indians on PSL match threads too.

Sony is showing live streaming Only on TV ,no online streaming ( On Jio TV) that Where people's can watch the PSL

Wow Ambani playing with Sony sport network

Indian has access of free 5G internet service so 80% watch on online live match.

For the one millionth time, IPL never selected our own t20 world cup winning bowler like Sreesanth in IPL after he was caught fixing.

There is no way IPl will select a convicted fixer from another country no matter the citizenship.

So please stop this Amir Amir chant

Sreeshanth by the time his ban was revoked, he was over the hill and retired. He is back in the fold of things though with broadcasting and senior leagues.

Amir after the ban was completed came back and has been an active cricketer for nearly 9-10 years now. Has been picked in other leagues all over the world, played ICC world cups.

Shakib was banned for some offense related to fixing too, Warner, Smith were banned for cheating. They all played till recently.

Yes, teams might consider Amir too old and over the hill or feel better options are available and not pick him but his fixing past won’t really come into play.

Captain of Karachi Kings, David Warner speaking during the Press Conference ahead of the Match against Multan Sultans:

About getting trolled by Indians for not being fit for IPL but getting selected for PSL:

"That’s the first I’ve heard of it, so from my perspective, it’s about playing cricket. This is a great opportunity for me to come to the PSL. Previously, my international calendar didn’t allow me to participate due to timing conflicts. I feel fortunate to still be able to play the game I love, and that’s cricket. I have a fantastic opportunity here to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully lift the trophy at the end."

There is a high chance One or more PSL overseas players get picked as replacement for the injured IPL players for CSK and Gujarat

For the 1st time our players are playing at home in dry wickets in good weather in the PSL. This should get some confidence back for batters.

So how is the clash going so far?

On the international broadcast front IPL has won as expected as the PSL is not being broadcast in Australia (Fox Sports), Sky Sports (New Zealand), Flo Sports (Carribean), Mean (Middle East) but the PCB took the position that the money PCB was getting from foreign broadcasters was not that much therefore this cost was not significant

On cricinfo the front pages are paying detailed attention to the IPL and all the videos, interviews are strictly IPL based.

All the major international broadcasters i.e. Mbangwa, Bishop, Wilkins, Morrison, Knight, Ganga, Doul who normally have worked in the PSL have gone to the IPL but the commentators in the PSL are pretty decent as well.

IPL obviously as expected has the best elite foreign stock but the PSL foreign roster at this PSL is the best it has been for a while frankly because there is no international cricket going on at this time which means many unsold IPL players are free. The PSL foreign roster would have been even better if the ECB had allowed their players to play in the PSL

I think it was an interesting experiment. Only the PSL could risk going head to head against the IPL.

There are going to be days where IPL games will be one sided, boring and the PSL game that day could be a close nail bitter.

HBL PSL X sets new live streaming record
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has set new live viewership records during its 10th edition, registering a 826.5% increase in Pakistan compared to the same period last year.

The rise came despite the league running alongside the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time, a period when most cricket boards avoid scheduling tournaments.

This year, the HBL PSL was shifted from its usual February-March window due to Pakistan’s hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy, leading organisers to stage the event in April against the IPL.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) brought in top international and local cricketers to enhance the tournament’s appeal and attract audiences.

8 times increase is sensational!

PCB must have good people in charge.

As with everything PCB, there are no actual numbers to compare. Just a percentage increase is indicated.

We heard the same with broadcast deal. No numbers just percent increase.

IPL is being shown on Sky Sports Main Event unless there’s another major sport on while PSL is tucked away on Sky Mix, which hardly anyone switches to

Do you trust these numbers ? Same PCB said champion trophy was huge profitable for them but we know the actual reality :kp
I do. Digital numbers jumping isn't new. Every league has had a breakthrough year in that category.

So far PSl in IPL territory has been a good move , no worries though the cunning minds BCCI must be thinking of something to sabotage psl

I think it's been an enjoyable league as a fan of Pakistan cricket. Whether it is enjoyable for neutrals is debatable but it's been good individual performances one sided games.

I haven't seen many matches but the bits I have seen have been entertaining. We have our niche and that's all that matters.

The PSL fans will or have found it. The audience is us. The number of non Ind IPL fans is very small. The total audience for IPL match is on average around 350,000 on Sky Sports- Hardly earth shattering. I haven't seen the figures but the combine Geo/ Sky figures for PSL won't be too far off that.

absolutely..BCCI already started sabotaging by house arresting all Karachi crowds during the Karachi matches..it had sabotaged the grounds in such a way that all matches will end one sided..It has appointed secret agents like babar, Warner and many other Pak players who purposely not perform well so that PSL becomes a failure. It also ensures to make Hacks like Shadab Khan perform well so that they get selected in national team to fail again..

Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen on X:

Over the past 10 years, the PSL has been home to some iconic stars who have helped build our league. Players like:

Darren Sammy, Shane Watson, Colin Munro, Rilee Rossouw and many more.

But we need to ask ourselves:
Can we keep attracting players of this calibre for the next decade if we keep clashing with the IPL window?
Or will we keep losing our top performers to the IPL after a season or two?

Although we were supportive of the clash, I’m not really feeling this window. Especially with the day games in this heat. Perhaps a rethink is needed.

If you want to attract top players IPL window is the worst possible window. Look at Bosch. He left drop of the hat. Only reason some of these guys are playing because they were not picked by IPL. Also if you want to grab headline to make the tournament popular you cannot compete with IPL which is going to grab all the headlines. Even cricinfo has live discussion of IPL. Foreign podcasts cover only IPL. Heck even Pakistan fans continue covering IPL in their youtube channel to increase the view count. Having slightly better foreign players than last season is not enough. Crowd turn out gives a very bad look for a supposedly the best league in Pakistan. Outside IPL window you are likely to get better commentators as well. May be some top active players as well.

Next year is the T20 WC in the Feb March window as well, PCB will have no choice but to again hold the PSL during the IPL window again.

This year due to mega auction bidding was chaotic. Some teams missed some top players. Next season they will be more thorough in the mini auction. IpL will grab more good players. Also the inevitable comparison will pop up everywhere. Mostly by Pakistan fans in their YT they draw comparisons. After suryavnshis knock Babar is getting roasted for his archaic approach in PSL by most of these channels. It adds pressure.

Well, the foreign players have now started to complain to the PCB that they are finding the weather extremely hot and tough. The PCB had to move a few day games from Multan to Lahore because the temperatures were slightly cooler in Lahore. Don't know which other window is suitable for the PSL, October - November?

Yeah it’s not a good look when anybody looks at PSL & IPL side by side. Almost seems like a domestic league happening along with an international tournament.

Ali Tareen wants a winter window. But then it can't be December to March window because then the PSL struggles to compete with Big Bash, SA T20, IL T20, BPL and foreign players prefer to miss the PSL so that they can rest, relax before the long 2 month IPL.

Only realistic option I see for the PCB is choosing the October - November Window where competition from any other T-20 league is minimal, PCB will have to move their international commitments around.

Ali Tareen is a joker. He has consistently put down the overseas players this year - from the draft to now yearning for players who played in the past.

Pakistani attitude towards the league this year is a summary of our attitude in general. We want a comparison with the IPL with none of the hard work. Franchise owners are unwilling to put big money up, fans are unwilling to go to the stadium, players content at being laid back, overseas fans cry because PSL is on sky sports mix rather than sky main event. The list goes on.

Nobody is willing to do the hard work or support the league but they just want IPL levels to fall into our lap.

Owners will put up money only if they are assured of returns. I heard Tareen say in an interview that all owners are running massive losses, so I doubt anybody is interested in investing more money. PCB needs to invest more here.

IPL owners weren't assured of returns either. They pumped money in, built brands and created a market.

This is the reality of business. Nothing is guaranteed in return, but you need money, vision, and goals to achieve it.

If you aren't willing to take risks then whats the point eyeing up the IPL?

The quality of Pakistani businessmen is below par in comparison to Indian Entreprenuers. You can see it in Pakistan and when they operate abroad. There is a reason why every rich Pakistani, there are a thousand rich indians.

It’s also a reflection of the economy. Private capital will be invested only if the economy is growing, else the government (in this case PCB) will have to pitch in. There are probably no growth indications regarding PSL right now.

i personally believe any window which is further away from IPL would do well for PSL branding. You should not allow any opportunity for all the meme makers, you tube warriors to do any kind of comparison. We all know irrespective of how well PSL does it won't do as good as IPL. So avoiding the comparison allows PSL to thrive independently and develop an image which is free of comparison and baggage. So anytime around oct/nov would be good. This also means more players will be available and more importantly they won't worry about losing out on IPL due to any injuries sustained in PSL

its a business venture. no one can assure returns. It is up to the investors to find a way to grow their markets and make money out of it.

International players will likely be busy with their international commitments in October and November. That is one road block

This is something i have observed so much here in US. I have couple of Pakistani families in our neighborhood WhatsApp group and i know them pretty well. When we all come together for neighborhood meetups, we see most Indians talking about business ventures, investing here, investing there, taking risk and stuff like that. But when i talk to Pakistani friends, most are happy investing in real-estate, very few wants to invest in Pak. Mind you a lot of Indians are also crazy about real estate and invest both here and in India, but a much larger portion compared to Pakistanis wants to go entrepreneurship route, even if it means it ruins them.
