[PICTURES/VIDEOS] The era of Faheem Ashraf starts now

Mark Waugh: "Faheem Ashraf and Agha Salman's bowling is probably not test class."

Faheem Ashraf last 5 Tests with the ball:

Overs 64
Runs Conceded 241
Wickets 3
Average 80.33

Faheem Ashraf last 8 Test innings:

4 0 22 10 4 1 9 5
Runs 55
Average 6.87
-----------------------
That's the reason he is considered Bradmcgrath of cricket, shame the averages are just inverted

This guy went to meet Nawaz Sharif at Avenfield a few months ago and he now finds himself back in the team. The likes of Ammad Butt has not even gotten a single chance to play for Pakistan.

Surely just a coincidence.

I'm sure Faheem deserves a spot in the team after his world class performances :P

Not in a favor of Faheem though but Ammad butt is equally incompetent.

I dont think we have any genuine all rounder in our domestic circuit right now.

Soon to become captain

The criteria for a pace bowling AR:

6ft+
Ability to add muscle and strength
85+ mph
Batting average 30+
Bowling average 33 and under

At least 1 FC century to prove longevity at the crease, mental fortitude and concentration levels.

Are we Team India or England in the 90s? What are these short fast bowling ARs that can't bat or bowl? Robin Singh? Mark Ealham? Dibbly dobblies?

Guys we have Imran Khan and Wasim Akram as our pedigree. We need to ask for more from our domestic circuit.

Ammad Butt was clocking 136-140 km/hr in the PSL seasons I have seen which is more effective than Faheem's 120-125 km/hr trundling. His batting is better than Faheem Ashraf. But for some reason Faheem keeps getting selected to play for Pakistan at the expense of Ammad Butt, Aamir Yamin e.t.c. He definitely has helpful political connections vs others who are more deserving.

Faheem Ashraf is Pakistan's answer to pace bowling AR.

Aamer Jamal needs to work-out desperately for Pakistan.

I am sure Aamer Jamal has taken the place of Faheem Ashraf. It is not wrong to say that Faheem Ashraf has had ample chances, having played 17 Test Matches for Pakistan. In those matches, he has taken only 25 wickets at an average of 39.64 and has scored only 687 runs with an average of 26.42.

In this 3 Test Match series against Australia, he has played only 1 Test match in which he was horrible, taking only 1 wicket at an average of 130 and an economy of 5.4.

The guy was awful and his bowling has and did lack any bite. So don't be surprised that he comes back

He is out of 11 not out of 15, he is just unlucky not clicking, next test series is Bangladesh at home expect Fahim to play it and get some easy runs

I think in Tests right now. Aamir Jamal has become the first choice. It remains to be seen though how many chances Aamir and Fahaeem are given now in limited overs cricket and how they will respond.

With the gimmicks in Pakistan cricket and the placid wickets we prepare don't be surprised if Faheem is loafed in the 11, given that the place of Hasan Ali will be vacant by next series team will be

Shafiq
Saim
Shan
Babar
Rizwan+
Agha
Jamal
Faheem
SSA
Naseem
Abrar
-----------
Alot of options in bowling and so called batting depth , don't be surprised if this happens

now from here on I don't think Faheem could make another comeback for the Pakistan team. If he does it would be more than a miracle

Rana G's time is over now

Why people can't stop talking about this useless cricketer Faheem, we wasted so much on him since 2016

The era of Faheem is well and truly over thanks to Aamer Jamal. Faheem out, Jamal in for all formats!

Born: January 16, 1994 (age 30 years), Pakistan

Happy birthday to the all-rounder Faheem Ashraf.

Good outing for Faheem Ashraf while playing for the Khulna Tigers against Fortune Brishal in the ongoing BPL edition.Scored 32(13) including 5 4s and a 6. Trying to make a comeback?

Please, have we not had enough?

Faheem Ashraf's all rounder mode is on...He's the real deal for Khulna Tigers. Scored an impressive 32 (13) and then took 3 wickets for just 18 runs in 4 overs against Fortune Barishal in BPL 2024

Faheem is having a good time in BPL so far. Did good job with the ball again today against Comilla Victorians. 4 overs, 25 runs and 2 wickets. That is nice. Let's see if he gets a chance with the bat now and what he is going to do.

Things are not going well for Khulna Tigers as Faheem Ashraf couldn't make an impact with the bat, scoring 13 runs off 13 balls.

After the inclusion of Aamir Jamal it is very difficult for Faheem Ashraf to make a comeback now.

T20 format suits him. His economy rate us 7.6 which is excellent for a 5th bowler. Jamal can leak runs. Faheem can also play important cameos towards the end. He should be given opportunities in the T20Is. On a side note it would be a great achievement for him to make 100th appearance for Pakistan.

Faheem has had a good time in BPL. but this is not enough for him to make a comeback. He needs to work harder in domestic and the upcoming PSL especially so that he can make his case strong. As of yet, his chances are slim.

This. This thinking has always been there when he does a bit of this and that in leagues but utter useless when it comes to international, no matter the format. There is a good one in jamal for now, guy will come good

His first ball this PSL goes for 4. Not a great omen for Rana.

A wicket for Rana G finally after some recent lacklustre outings. Dismissed Sikandar Raza of LQ today. His figures today were 1/11 after 2 overs.

It's time for Rana Sahab to be a hero with the bat for Islamabad United and win the game from here on.

He is 30 years old and I think the era has already come to an end.

his era probably reached to the end now.
He never had an era, an era would imply a period of time where a player dominated or was at the top, or atleast amongst the top 10-15 best in the world.

But once said era ended they fell off and weren't recognised anymore or they retired altogether ending said era.

Faheem was never even top 50 or even top 100 for that matter.

Faheem is nowhere near in the competition now. Aamer Jamal and Wasim have taken his place for a good few years now. Faheem is having a poor show in PSL 9 as well. He is just not good enough atm to play PSL.

Faheem Ashraf in red hot form for team united. Already claimed 2 wickets so far against KK. His figures so far 2/16 in 2 overs

Gets a Man of the match

He will finish his story at the T20 World Cup
Lets hope that story never starts. You see these lads performing in PSL (see the Azam Khan hype machine) once they enter the International stage, they cant handle it. The difference in level is huge. Just look at the opener from Multan comes over from the UAE with no fitness and a belly, but smashes 2 times a 100 with a very healthy SR.

You have to take these performances with a truckload of salt. Its a different story when a new/young player performs in such a league, that gives you something to work with.

Not good when a pathetic cricketer performs , once in a blue moon and some people start giving him importance.

Jamaal is doing well, do you really need this guy at the T20 World Cup?

Faheem is not going to find a spot in the team in near future. Jamal and Wasim are already there. Just 1 good game is not enough for his mediocre era to start again.

Islamabad United all-rounder Faheem Ashraf is still not satisfied with his performance in PSL 9, as he mentioned in an interview with local media:

"I have only performed in two games and I am not yet satisfied with my performance."

"Whenever I get a chance, I strive for a 100% effort. I've been with this team for seven years, and there's a lot of trust among us. If I make a mistake, the team has confidence in me. The relationship of trust between players and the management is crucial for the team."

"In life, having someone's trust makes a significant difference. Some people just say and don’t support but here in the United, there is genuine support. We trust each other until the end. When the team says Rana will do it, it gives me confidence."

"If one will enjoy the game, there will be performance. If you put too much pressure on yourself, the game will suffer. Even if the performance is not there, keep enjoying it. Always have faith in your hard work and don't let yourself down."

“When I'm off, I spend time with my family. Spending time with good people can change your perspective on life. I'm not thinking about the World Cup; I'm focused on the ongoing PSL. Thinking ahead and not doing anything in the PSL won't be beneficial."

"There's so much cricket that relaxation has become essential. A body is like a machine and giving the machine a break is important. If I play ten matches and practice every day, it will lead to exhaustion."

“Players should decide whether they want to play or not. In Pakistan, players want to ensure that no one takes their place. If you're a good performer, no one can replace you."

The amount of time & patience put in to Faheem Ashraf has been disgraceful to see considering his return.

I was just curious when Hassan Ali can get back into the team without any performance so why not this Lord Fahim Ashraf?

He is equally pathetic as Hassan but atleast could be very handy with the bat.

You have a point here. It would have made more sense that they dropped Abbas for Faheem as well. Because Hasan and Faheem are both equal. Dosti yaari you know. So sad to not see Lord Faheem's name in the squad.

In a recent interview with a local news channel, Faheem Ashraf said:

"The aim is always to give my best for the team I’m playing for. As long as I have the strength, I will continue playing cricket; once I don’t have the strength, I will stop."

"All the top players are participating in the Champions Cup. Everyone always strives to give their best performance. Our job is to perform, and what happens afterward is beyond our control."

"The Champions Cup marks the start of the season, and it is a very important tournament for every player. Each player will strive to perform well in this tournament. Some will try to make a comeback, while others will aim to secure their place. For young players, this is a crucial opportunity to perform well and get noticed."

"Those who perform well here will catch the attention of the selectors and also attract the interest of the franchise."

"The desire and effort are always to perform well in every match. I will try to perform well here and make a comeback to the national team for the Champions Trophy."

"Sometimes, after watching matches, I feel that I could have done something in those conditions. What is destined to happen will certainly happen; if it’s not meant to be, it won’t happen. A career has its ups and downs, and players should not lose their belief. A good performance can open all doors for you. Perhaps I haven’t done justice to my own talent."

Faheem Ashraf has done a fine job in this game for the Dolphins against Markhors. Took a 4-fer today for just 50 runs.

Here are all of his scalps today.

Knocking at the doors of the selectors with 264 runs & six wickets in the recently concluded President's one day cup and was named as the Player od the Tournament as well.

Islamabad United announces the departure of one of our longest-serving and most beloved players, Faheem Ashraf, by mutual consent

Faheem has been a vital part of the United family, embodying the spirit, passion, and dedication that define our team. His contributions with both bat and ball were exceptional, consistently stepping up in crucial moments and cementing his place as one of Pakistan’s best all-rounders.

His match-winning spells, vital innings, and unwavering commitment shaped some of the most iconic moments in our history. Faheem’s relentless fighting spirit and love for the game leave a lasting legacy at Islamabad United.

Head Coach Mike Hesson:

“Faheem is every coach’s dream – fearless, hardworking, and clutch under pressure. He’s irreplaceable and will always remain part of the United family.”

Owner Ali Naqvi:

“Faheem is part of Islamabad United’s DNA. His journey with us has been extraordinary, and his performances will always be remembered. He leaves as a champion and a Sheru.”

General Manager Rehan Ulhaq:

“Faheem was the heart and soul of this team. We won games because he refused to give up. Saying goodbye feels like losing a brother, but our doors will always be open for him.”

Faheem Ashraf:

“This was the toughest decision of my career. Islamabad United is home – a family that shaped my journey. I will always be grateful to Ali Naqvi, Rehan Ulhaq, Shadab Khan, and the fans for believing in me. I’ll forever be a Sheru.”

Faheem Ashraf will always have a place in Islamabad United’s history and hearts.

Thank you, Faheem.
