Go to any lawyer and ask him that if there is any law in the country that says, that the police needs permission of the VC to stop a crime from taking place or from detaining anyone alleged to have committed a crime.
University is not outside India, indian law applies to it.
Please find if there is such a law.
This is not a banana republic and thats why a university cannot claim that they are beyond the law.

I think you have the wrong understanding of the issue here.
Muslims were able to win pakistan on the back of the two nation theory that postulated that Hindus and Muslims are so different they cant live together, so in a hindu majority India, after British left, we will have no future or rights. So we wanted a separate country.
Those who opposed this theory (even a lot of Muslim religious scholars of the time) claimed that India should be a united nation and can be a united nation without Muslims feeling marginalized.
So after partition, in India there was still a prevalent sentiment that the two nation theory was flawed and that more Muslims lived in Secular India and enjoyed all the rights and comforts that can be afforded to a citizen, and they are not subject to any discrimination. And this was trumpeted about for a long long time.
Well now finally, the truth is starting to come out. It is just as our leaders during the Freedom Movement predicted, Muslims are a minority and we are so different and our history with Hindus is so fraught with negativity, that we will never be on equal footing with the hindu majority.

There are plenty of debunking sites online that have ripped those video claims apart.
The language used in the slogans is aggressive and quite unnecessary referencing graves. But nowhere did those Muslim students chant against Hindus. It was against Hindutva, caste and the BJP.

No one has mentioned about Muslims of Pakistan or Bangladesh going India.
Talk is about the Muslims in India already but BJP and some posters here don't understand the bill.
Like in Assam their are millions and millions of illegal immigrants for many years.
After NRC is done the CAB will allow hindu illegal immigrants to claim citizenship but will turn away the Muslims who been their for years. Don't you call that discrimination against only Muslims. And some people who are even citizens of India in Assam don't have documents what will they do.
Tommorow just say they do NRC of whole India and some Muslims who actually lived India their whole life for generations don't have documents they will be classed as illegal but the Hindus and others under the CAB will get citizenship automatically even if they not Indian.
How can you judge such bill. Theirs a reason educated Muslims are protesting as they understand the bill.
But all BJP and its followers say on this is that it won't affect Indian Muslims they got nothing to worry about. But it will.

Guwahati High Court granted bail to retired Army captain Mohammed Sanaullah on Friday.
Mohammed Sanaullah was declared a foreigner and was detained by police in Assam on May 23.
Mohammed Sanaullah, 52, was sent to a detention camp after a tribunal declared him a foreigner.
The lawyer of retired Army officer Mohammed Sanaullah said, "Guwahati HC passed order of interim bail. He'll be released from detention centre with a condition of Rs 20,000 bail bond, 2 local sureties and his bio-metrics will be taken before the release."
The lawyer added, "We're confident we'll win. The biggest point is that the investigating officer himself said that he never investigated or enquired him [Mohammed Sanaullah]. We've made him a party. The case doesn't stand because he was never investigated. Border Police had filed a false case against him.

Yes I did hear about this and thanks for the article. It's clear its going to affect Indian Muslims. And after the brutality the Delhi police done yesterday shows they won't let Muslims speak up against it. Whoever tries will get beaten up.
See the videos and was confused. Looked like some ordinary people covering faces in jeans and causal wear acting as officers and beating the students up.

In Assam as long as you could prove that either of your parents or grandparents were innIndia before 1971, you are Indian.
Tell me how plausible it is that neither you, nor your siblings nor your parents siblings nor your grand parents and their siblings no one has sny document?
Assam has a population of 30mn, according to 2011 census, the total exclusion was 1.9mn, thats not even 10 per cent. Its likely to go down after tribunal cases. Muslims were 1.5mn. So this theory that mass citizenship removal of Muslims is being attempted is wrong.
Now finally coming to your last argument, that if NRC happens and a non muslim is detected as a foreigner he will get citizenship while a muslim wont.
First of all this will apply only to people from pakistan BD and Afg.
I see no reason why after partition, India should be taking any illegal muslim from pak or BD,? Can you give me a reason?

India should not be taking ANY illegal period or should be taking illegals without discrimation.
India was founded as a secular country and not a Hindu country. Secular should be secular for ALL not picking and choosing religions.

In 1947 muslims were given a country after they demanded one. Now why should they same community be allowed back? You take land, now you want a share in Indias resources as well. Sorry thats not happening.
The only reason non Muslims are given the choice because they are a persecuted lot in islamic nations. And when their land was made the part of islamic nations, they werent given any say.

For any hindu sikh christian to claim citizenship under CAA he will also have to prove that he is from Pak BD or Afg.
It doesn't matter Bjp or RSS, India cant be taking in any muslim refugees after a separate country was provided for them. This is a matter of national importance.

They have the right to peacefully protest. Thats their right under the constitution.
They also have the right to approach the Court to get the law struck down if its unconstitutional.
They also have the option of gathering enough public support that the next govt is sympathetic to their demands and the law is repealed.

How can a refugee prove where they from if they have no documents. Just because they are Hindu or others they get a free pass but a Muslim who probably is a Indian citizen won't be if they don't have any valid document.
Also If a retired war veteran is treated this way because of his religion. I wonder what state the poor Muslim people in Assam are.
Mohammed Sanaullah, the Kargil war veteran who was declared ‘foreigner’ by a Foreigners’ Tribunal in Assam and sent to a Detention Camp in Goalpara, may now be out on bail, but there are several grave concerns about the manner in which he was treated.
Is there even a case now?
To begin with, Chandrabaran Das, the Border Police official (now retired) who had initially filed a report flagging Sanaullah’s citizenship, has clarified that this is a case of mistaken identity. In an interview to NDTV, Das who was a sub-inspector with the Assam Border Police when he filed the report in 2009, says that these are two different men with the same name i.e Mohammed Sanaullah. His report had mentioned that Mohammed Sanaullah was an illiterate man and daily wage earner who had confessed that he originally hailed from Bangladesh.
In light of this revelation, all proceedings against the war veteran should have been summarily quashed as now there is no real case against him. The fact, that this hasn't happened yet, makes one wonder if he is being targeted.
Why the deliberate humiliation?
A week after the revelation about mistaken identity, the case has still not been dismissed and Mohammed Sanaullah is only out on bail. Why was a man who has committed no crime forced to spend time behind bars at a detention camp and then be required to seek bail, instead of being allowed to just walk free with dignity? This reeks of deliberate humiliation, once again making one wonder if he is being targeted.
But Mohammed Sanaullah’s humiliation did not end there. According to the provisions of his bail order, the man who had dedicated 30 years of his life serving the nation in some of the most hostile and insurgency prone areas, will now be kept under surveillance almost like a criminal, as Mohammed Sanaullah is required to submit his biometric data to the authorities. The judgment says, “… prior to releasing the applicant on bail, the biometrics of the iris of both eyes, the fingerprints of both hands and photograph of the petitioner shall be obtained.”
Privacy concerns
This immediately raises a few concerns. Firstly, it appears to be a violation of Mohammed Sanaullah’s right to privacy as biometric data is private and citizens are not required to share it except in case of registering for Aadhaar. Secondly, Mohammed Sanaullah has not done anything to merit recording his biometric data and no details have been given as to how long this biometric data will be store and under what kind of security. Is this yet another example of deliberate targeting?
Are we now doubting the Army's background checks?
If there are still doubts about Mohammed Sanaullah’s citizenship, as a result of which he was required to seek bail, and the charges against him have still not been dropped, then are we now doubting the stringent background checks the Indian Army conducts while recruiting personnel? If Mohammed Sanaullah was an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, are we saying that none of the authorities in the Indian Army were able to spot this as a result of which a 'foreigner' was not only recruited in our defence forces, but also went on to serve for 30 years? In a country where people across the political spectrum and socio-economic backgrounds have unshakable faith and the utmost regard for the brave men and women who risk their lives to defend our freedoms, are we actually saying we don't trust the Indian Army?

Only 1.9mn found to be foreigners. Less than 10%.

I have seen you use this line many times. It just factually false. I don't know of any secular state using the same line of thinking on immigrants trying to move to that country, except maybe Trump administration (and even they are significantly less blatant and rigid as this). No other secular state that I know of discriminates against immigrants, legal or illegal, based on their religion.

You are missing the main point. Mohammed Sanaullah served in the Army for 30 years and then with the Border force. And yet was sent to a detention camp. It shows how ridiculously flawed the criterion and implementation of the NRC was.
Does BJP have any educated people who know anything when they implement stupid failed projects. For eg: demonetization. Having the political abilities like Shah and Modi undoubtedly excel in, is different from having the intellect to run a country.
I'll assume your numbers are right. Then why all this drama for 5%.

Chief Justice Sharad Bobde said the top court did not have to intervene since it was "a law and order problem". He also told lawyers to file petitions in trial courts.
More protests are expected to take place throughout Tuesday in universities across cities including Varanasi, Hyderabad, Chennai (formerly Madras) and Kolkata (formerly Calcutta).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the new law was "for those who have faced years of persecution outside and have no place to go except India".

And what sort of police raids into a University and attacks students. Even just say few students done something violent, (which they didn't as they didn't get arrested for it) they can't barge into the University and attack all students like that.
All the statements of the students they told what happened but you won't believe that as they are Muslims. Actually their was a non Muslim girl too crying on TV and saying what happened but no she's lying as she's backing the Muslims.

Bhai you have no idea how the "student unions" in India work. They are just the puppets of different political parties and are often used to create public unrest for political benefits.
The state that I live in got bifurcated in 2014 after years of student struggle and numerous lathi charges on students (mostly Hindus) inside the campuses. This has got nothing to do with religion.

“Thrash the circumcised,” Delhi cops shouted amidst rampage against us students
Nobody anticipated what happened inside our Jamia Millia Islamia campus yesterday (Dec. 15).
In the morning, we approached the Delhi police for permission for a protest march in the Batla House community near our university, and they allowed us to use a particular lane. Around noon, we marched, raised slogans, and put across our point that the Citizenship Amendment Act is discriminatory. We sat on the road and raised slogans.
I want to emphasise, all this was peaceful. The Delhi police personnel were positioned only kilometres away from us.
After an hour or so, we saw residents of Jamia Nagar and other nearby areas join us. They marched towards Surya hotel in New Friends Colony, a short distance from Batla House. We Jamia Millia students then appealed to our groups to stay put and not join the locals.
We continued to protest at the spot we had permission for.
Around 2pm, the students of Jamia Millia’s Faculty of Law were to join us and then we were to march peacefully towards the Delhi police headquarters. It was decided there won’t be any sloganeering anymore.
However, before that could happen, the locals, who had entered New Friends Colony, turned violent.
The unfortunate events
Soon, news began pouring in that they were pelting stones at parked cars and moving buses and damaging property. We got to know that they’d also torched a bike.
What followed was unbelievable. We saw police personnel light a fire from the torched bike and burn the buses. We know the Delhi police is responsible for it. Some students even recorded the entire incident on their cell phones. These videos confirm there wasn’t a single student near the torched buses, it was just the officers and constables of the Delhi police.
Now I want to ask those blaming us students for the violence, did we torch the buses sitting inside our homes or from inside the campus?
Moreover, as soon as the students received news of violence, we called off our protests and returned to the university.
The chaos that followed
When we returned, everyone made sure that outsiders don’t enter the campus. We knew (or that’s what we thought) that the police weren’t inside the university, so the miscreants could possibly enter. We were extra cautious.
The security guards at the gates checked the identity cards of the returning protesters, entering the campus. It was only us, the students.
We thought the worst was behind us. We were angry. To analyse what had happened, we met at the canteen; some of us hadn’t eaten since morning. A few minutes after we settled down, a tear-gas shell was fired inside our canteen from the direction of our library.
The entire campus was soon taken over by the police. Four or five more tear-gas shells were fired. The police harassed the security guards and forced them to open the university’s gates.
Now, the police were inside the campus. We were scared, really scared.
Out of fear, some of us ran towards the library. The police then bombed the reading hall with more tear-gas shells. Some students were caught by the police and told they would be escorted to their hostels safely. The police said they were only looking for “outsiders.”
Later, we heard gunshots. I have recorded some videos of the police firing inside the campus.
We got to know that the students supposedly being taken to their hostel rooms were being detained and beaten up badly. The police took them somewhere, we think it’s Kalkaji police station, but we are not sure. When we asked the police, they hurled abuses at us.
I, along with my friends, was inside the campus, but when the police began firing gunshots, we escaped through the gate near Batla House.
“We are students not terrorists”
Chief proctor Waseem Ahmed Khan confirmed that the police did not have permission to enter Jamia. I can guarantee their (police’s) intention wasn’t to catch outsiders; they wanted to fuel communal tensions.
Let me tell you what some of the personnel were saying while beating us up: “Maaro inko, ye katwe hai” (Thrash them, these circumcised). I heard them saying this many times.

We thought the worst was behind us. We were angry. To analyse what had happened, we met at the canteen; some of us hadn’t eaten since morning. A few minutes after we settled down, a tear-gas shell was fired inside our canteen from the direction of our library.
The entire campus was soon taken over by the police. Four or five more tear-gas shells were fired. The police harassed the security guards and forced them to open the university’s gates.
Now, the police were inside the campus. We were scared, really scared.
Out of fear, some of us ran towards the library. The police then bombed the reading hall with more tear-gas shells. Some students were caught by the police and told they would be escorted to their hostels safely. The police said they were only looking for “outsiders.”
Later, we heard gunshots. I have recorded some videos of the police firing inside the campus.
We got to know that the students supposedly being taken to their hostel rooms were being detained and beaten up badly. The police took them somewhere, we think it’s Kalkaji police station, but we are not sure. When we asked the police, they hurled abuses at us.
I, along with my friends, was inside the campus, but when the police began firing gunshots, we escaped through the gate near Batla House.
“We are students not terrorists”
Chief proctor Waseem Ahmed Khan confirmed that the police did not have permission to enter Jamia. I can guarantee their (police’s) intention wasn’t to catch outsiders; they wanted to fuel communal tensions.
Let me tell you what some of the personnel were saying while beating us up: “Maaro inko, ye katwe hai” (Thrash them, these circumcised). I heard them saying this many times.
They opened fire at the campus, damaged the mosques, and beat up students. Please, remind them if you can that we are students, not terrorists.

Police have arrested 10 local people but no students till now. Is that too difficult to find proof against them now?? They were soo quick in lathicharging them at the library, toilet snd hostels?

Why wasn't no student arrested then. If they rioted and burnt buses surely they would be arrested but the 10 people arrested are non students.
Lathi charge and tear gas you can't back the police on this. They were thrashing students and even breaking bikes parked outside.
And it has got religion to do with as you PM Modi said you can identify these lot with their clothes.
It's like no Indian Muslim has a right to protest or raise their voice against Modi if they do what happened yesterday will happen or even worse.

It is better to lathi charge the students, or detain and release, instead of formally arresting them. As it can ruin the future, except for the students who use these dharnas as internship for their future political career. Credit must be given to Delhi police who taught the other state police how it should be done. In future, students who want to protest, should do it peacefully, finger on their lips and pin drop silence.
