He can do it in NZ and Aus if he have a wonderful WI series need around 400 runs in UAE against WI.

Younis Khan to donate 10,000-run bat to a special cause

It’s only a matter of time before veteran Pakistan batsman Younis Khan reaches the 10,000-run milestone in Test cricket.

And when he does, he will donate the treasured willow he achieves the landmark with to The Citizens Foundation’s school in Steeltown.

Younis becomes first person to score a century in all 11 countries

The 39-year-old, who has so far piled up 139 runs in Pakistan’s first innings of the ongoing third Test against Australia, made the announcement in a video ( can be accessed in the link posted below)

If he fails to get there in this test, has this innings secured his spot for next test series or Arthur wont let him continue?

Yoni bhai ain't budging till he gets his 10K.

Even if he misses 10K the next series, he will play.

So why tension....

But good on him for this very very thoughtful gesture.

Tbf this series he has done well and makes the team on merit.

In England he was totally out of sorts till the final innings so overall he had a dreadful time. Same in NZ

But here he has made contributions earlier too and looked good in parts.

Misbah doesn't merit a place but he does.

Yes, Younis Khan scored a 100 year and that's commendable but he has only done well in this series from a statistical viewpoint.

When the team really needed him, he failed. One can say he is fighting to save this test which is fine but to screw up every other chance and then score a 100 on a flat Sydney track with 2 spinners ain't all that amazing.

Does he make the team on merit? Defo considering the next series would be in WI/UAE and sorts.
Does it mean he should be persisted with? Not really. Golden time for grooming youngsters is lost.

But then he has got so close to 10K that its all water under the bridge now. Even if he misses it this test, he will surely get it in WI and bow out in glory.

His timing is perfect though and tbf the team collectively failed except Shafiq and Azhar, so with this century he kinda made himself undroppable.

However I don't think Pak have the luxury like us to move on from Younis, they are already trying Sami Aslam, Sharjeel and Babar and they are struggling. Adding one more youngster in isn't going to make things easy. So for now Younis will have plenty of opportunities to get to 10k.

Its not about luxury. Its about vision which Pakistan selectors never possess.

They should have dropped Younis Khan after all the psycho drama he did on TV. But they didn't.

He performed in UAE and got the right to travel to England.

Flopped in England but scored a great double hundred in the last game to level the series and got the rights to travel to NZ.

Flopped in NZ but since it was just 2 match series...he got to play in Aus where he flopped for most part.

Now PCB should hope he gets to 10K this match itself so that they can ask him to retire and if he doesn't budge, throw him out of the team and invest in youngsters.

They won't do that but they should.

Yes like I said Pakistan selectors may not have the vision but even if they did, you just cant pick 4-5 youngsters and hope for the best?

They already have 2 or 3 players in the XI who have <10 tests, now with Misbah gone it will be one more.

They have been trying out openers for a while, Azhar has probably cemented that one spot but he's left no.3 empty.

So realistically leaving Yonis, they need an opener, no.3, no.5. Pakistan need Younis till they can atleast fill a few gaps.

i hope the bat gets the right value.

Its the only bat in Pakistan that was used for reaching 10k. So its very rare.
