There has been a lot of discussion around the bowlers and how badly they have performed in England so far however we are forgetting the pitches dished out for the series were one of the most unsporting pitches seen in recent past.
The bowlers were turned into a defensive option who were there to save runs and this really works against teams who's strength is bowling and turns the game in favor of teams whose batsmen get lucky slogging or have more power hitters. If we are to see similar trend in the world up matches then I believe we have turned the ODI game into a longer version of t20 and what made ODI unique where you would see a contest between bat and bowl has been taken out of this format.
For Pakistan these few matches came as a blessing in disguise as they are going in after inclusion of Amir and Asif a team that will be Pakistan's best chance on these pitches with Amirs economy rate and Asifs slogging skills. Wahab is a risk that selectors are willing to take as pace can be useful in these types of wickets if the bowlers can bowl tight lines and if he does come good it can be handy for Pakistan. However, i would try him out against weaker opponents first before sending him out infront of stronger teams.
Will ICC step in to ensure pitches and ground sizes are supportive of a good contest between bat and ball or we are going to see similar types of pitches for world Cup games as well? How do you see Pakistan's chances on these pitches with the squad we have?
