A brawl between 40 men using knives, bottles and a sword has been broken up by police in west London.

Police initially reported that two swords had been used in the fight in Southall in the early hours of Sunday, but later corrected this to “at least one sword”.

At 8pm on Sunday, police released a statement saying that they had been called at “around 0200hrs to a large group of males fighting with knives and at least one sword in the area of King Street, Southall”.

Two men in their 20s were arrested and remain in police custody, according to the statement

Despite the diverse and unusual weapons used, police said: “There are no reported injuries.”

The police have asked anyone with information about those involved to come forward.

The initial tweet about the fight described the two men being, “chased into St Johns Road and identified as having carried swords during the fight. They were arrested for violent disorder and affray”.

Looks like the sword and knifes were for token purposes, as there is no injury by those weapons reported.

London really has gone to the dogs. Are the authorities simply that incompetent or is there something else at play here?

Begs the question should Sikhs really be able to carry knives on them in public? Especially in the UK as there's already so much knife crime

You could argue though, as CricketCartoons has pointed out, that the knives and swords were produced for symbolic purposes as there were no actual knife injuries reported. Although that itself goes against what a Sikh once told me, that once a Sikh knife has been drawn, then it has to taste blood. The idea being that knives should not be produced unless with serious intent, and this seems to be the opposite of that.

Reminds me of the opening scene in Gangs of New York.

:))) Loved that movie
On topic whats happening in London
I mean this is straight from wild west

Or middle school when two AA ladies fight :smith
Ofcourse without the swords and all

Good to see that the brawlers have shown great restraint in using their weapons. Next time, they should fight with bare fists.

The ones with intent to stab and behead will find a knife from somewhere anyways. It’s only part of religious attire, so May not be a same risk as the use can be atleast determined and the weapon visible

Growing up in the 90's this was a common occurrence in Southall/Hounslow/Slough knives bats and allsorts were used, gangs of Sikhs , Muslims, Hindus causing madness. It has calmed down a lot since then and i agree London has gone to the dogs it seems like a different type of crime and criminal nowadays.

The best opening scene of any movie for me(better than the climax), Speed comes second :P

A lot of this type of trouble usually stems from problems from gurdwaras or family issues.
