Positive attributes of Ahmed Shehzad, the opener

He is a wonderful player just needs the level of confidence to succeed at the international level.

What confidence and a wonderful player he's could be if playing with 5 year olds buy other then that he's an awful player. Hopefully we have seen the last of him.
 
Never have so many words been wasted on a player with such little actual performance.
 
good technique, brilliant style of play, great fielder. He is going through a bad time, will come good soon.

I believed that in world cup 2011 and 2015 from both him and Akmal but....

I still support whoever plays for Pak but to be honest he hasn’t performed in any world cup match. He needs to start performing to be part of the world cup squad as next world is post PSL 4 so you never know what we find there.

He did play some pressure knocks in bilaterals one I can remember was against SA in SA where we won the series and against world xi in a series decider recently.

He was too levish in his stroke play in earlier days and then he got dropped but atleast showed he has got shots.

After getting dropped he became too conservative in his approach which saw his SR to go down from high 80s to early 70s.

There was year or two I guess where he did comparatively better, that was somwhere between 2012-14 if I remember correctly. He looked like improving a bit but then he got stuck by a ball from Corey Anderson in UAE test and after that it was complete downwards slope.

He looks to be working hard under Micky but no extraordinary results so far.
 
The most disappointing thing for me is he couldnt create any impact in two world cups. Every youngster dreams about representing his country at world cup and he has wasted two oppurtunities.

Lol, I remember that innings, Farhat was all at sea in that innings and kept on playing and missing, even that 90 was so scratchy and it was no surprise to see him finally get out as his luck had run out in that innings.
 
Positive being the key word - based on reports today.

I've only been watching Farhat play since 2011 and he's been pretty decent to be honest, although other openers such as Hafeez were way better than him.

A timely bump. We must give massive confidence to Ahmed Shehzad and back him to get a big match winning score for Quetta Gladiators and to repay the faith Sarfaraz, Moin Khan and Nadeem Umar have vested in him just like they have done with Umar Akmal. A firing Ahmed Shehzad is only positive for Pakistan Cricket.

Firing in what sense... his 70 SR in ODIs and 110 in T20Is will only be a positive for the opposition.

his confidence, no matter how poor his statistics are, and how far he falls (from being banned for doping to almost not being selected in PSL...), Shehzad always walks around the field like he's the greatest cricketer ever, and we should all feel privileged to watch him bat / field

He is consistent now adays. He scores in single digits and gets out early so the coach can know exactly when to send the next player. As a coach you have to love a consistent player.
 
Positive Attribute would be from me is that he has gotten himself fit and in great condition, finally I really like his hair. Nice, big and well kept.
 
Ahmed Shehzad’s best format is Test.
Even now, he can be tried as an opener in test matches with Shan Masood.

To the thread: he can hit boundaries.

Biggest problem: strike rotation.
 
Something happend after his head injury. He never had any good SR in shorter formats but was doing well in Test cricket.

And in his younger days when he played u19 he had som lovely straight drives but his development just stopped.

I think being stretched off after taking a blow to the head will have a lasting affect. He's probably too timid when dealing with any decent ball slightly short of a length and angled in. Sad really

This thread reminds me of the one which said Shehzad and Akmal deserved praise for not getting involved in fixing. :)) I'm sure [MENTION=133760]Abdullah719[/MENTION] will remember it well.
 
He will return to Pak team as Sarfraz and coaching staff think he just needs “confidence”.
Absolutely horrible mindset. Deserving players sit out while Shehzad is given matches just so he can score.
