Potential of Hussain Talat as a bowler

This thread's purpose his solely to discuss his potential as a bowler. I know he is not a complete package yet as a bowler. But I see great potential in him as a bowler

Plus Points:
Pace
Bounce
Aggression


I think a little more effort can make him a very decent ODI bowler and who knows even a test class All-rounder
 
His max POTENTIAL as A BOWLER is of STOKES level.

He's not even the level of Stokes(Bowler), yet. But yeah, he can reach there in the future.

A good 7th or 6th bowler at Max in Non Asian conditions

Nope Stokes is alot better bowler than his max level, i think he will remain a Soumya Sarkar type bowler but we really don't need his bowling, maybe i test he can bowl 5-6 overs per day and maybe 2-3 overs in ODIs thats it , we can use him in situations when spinners are smashed

Stokes is quite a good bowler for an All-rounder, I would be happy if he can reach that level or Hardik Pandyas level.

He defo has potential

LOL Sarkar is a trundler. Talat is 10kph quicker
 
Gun barrel straight at 130. He will be smashed around. LOL at comments on being a test all rounder. Focus should be on making him a decent ODI batsman first.

Heavy ball and 135kph, I even saw few 140 click deliveries in PSL without perhaps working too much on his bowling thus far. That shows me that he has potential

Yes tests are far fetched as of now but he sholdnt give up on bowling like I have seen many people suggest

Did u even see him? Honestly asking.

Talat has Pace(bowling early 130's), Bounce, Good variations, good seam position and a hint of angle. By the WC'19, a year from now on, if worked, can easily reach Stokes level as a bowler.

Even if he can reach 135+ (i.e., add 5 more ks), he can be quite useful for Pakistan at the 2019 WC, which is in England.

Good Point if he develops well, he can be handy at WC19 as a 6th bowler
 
I think his bowling is just a distraction. Faheem is what a proper allrounder looks like. We just need Talat to be a gun batsman. Our bowling has never set teams ablaze because we had a bits and pieces player to bowl a handful of overs, it always revolved around 5 proper bowlers.
 
He can develop, but don't want it at the expense of his batting as bowling is pretty much covered and it's the batting of the team that needs improvement.
 
Guys I dont see why his bowling would develop at expense of Batting. He can train as a fast bowler, bowl overs regularly that suely he must not be doing in domestics

Yes I agree, but there should be work in Background because there is lot to work with

Internationally he needs to focus on Batting and bowl 2-5 overs per ODI or 1- overs per T20 but coaches should work on his bowling and development as a fast bowler

Watched him in PSL and both T20Is. Maybe it's the pitches because of which I haven't seen all the variations. You need good cutters or swing or something like a knuckle ball to make any impact at that pace.
 
Will only be called up on green tops or when one of the three pacers is having an off-day.
 
We'll now have four part time options in Talat, Fakhar, Haris, Malik in ODIs. I see little reason why we have to play an extra bowler in ODIs anymore. Batting is our problem, why add an extra mediocre pacer, when our third pacer is already mediocre.

You either forge out the fifth lot of 10 overs with part timers, or you have an allrounder to do it who doesn't weaken the batting, or bowls to the same level as the other bowlers. Fahim does neither. Should hold down 3rd pacer spot at 8 or nothing.

I see you keep hating on Fahim with little or no knowledge. For your information Fahim was the highest wicket taker in the PSL ahead of Amir, Hasan, Junaid, Shinwari, Raees, Rahat, Shaheen etc etc. You have to be slightly better than average to achieve that feat.

Never said he wasn't a decent bowler. I think he's worse than Amir and Hasan for sure, but the others he's around the same level and improving. Which is why I'm happy for him to try to hold down the no.8 spot for his bowling and see if he could do it.

His batting is more what I have a problem with. It looks a lot like pre-meditated slogs. No innings construction. I don't see how he'll suddenly turn into a proper batsman in the space of a year. Even bowlers can slog, I kind of expect more of him, especially since he's not bowling full quota in ODIs either.

Can be tried as bowling attack

Fahim and Talat both should play. It gives great depth in batting

He was prety decent with Ball in NZ and as a batter I dont think he has gotten enough chance to construct innings. He has great potential as no. 8 and he's definitely not a weak link in bowling

This. I would tell him to just concentrate on his batting and forgot about his bowling. Pakistan surely does not need his bowling and frankly his bowling is nothing to write about. Just try to become a good batsman so that Ahmed Shehzad cannot make his millionth comeback again.
 
I have never watched him play.

How tall is he? If he’s less than 6 foot tall, don’t waste your time.
 
Can't see him becoming a genuine all rounder but possibly a batsman who can bowl.
 
Arthur should tell him to quit bowling really, he can become a decent batsman and Pakistan need that more than an allroundrt when we have shadab, faheem and imad and Nawaz.

LOL why should he ask him to quit bowling when he clearly has talent?

He should make his bowling good enough to contribute 5 overs per match.Its not a heavy work load

This is a typical way of Pakistani way of thinking.... a very backward way of thinking..... he should be encouraged to work hard on his bowling
 
Sanity prevail finally and Sarfraz did not give him ball; could have gone for huge runs today once the West Indies batsmen get a bit of form back
 
He clearly likes bowling. Why should he quit? Let him do his thing and the Pakistani captain will decide if his bowling services are required or not.

He does have a good bouncer and a few good variations.

Exactly and he has talent, Part timers dont bowl good bouncers at 135kph

He should be encouraged should work in nets on bowling. Internationally we can increase his bowling work load bit by bit. Moreover next WC is in England and a pace bwoling AR is worth Gold there
 
he doesn't really have pace, and does not swing the ball. He relies heavily on his slower ball. He can bowl a well directed back of a length delivery into the body. These are his two deliveries so far. This is not enough to be a frontline bowler. Personally, I don't think he will ever be a frontline seamer, and if his batting takes off, I expect his bowling to tail off. But he is ok as a sixth bowling option in limited overs cricket.

He has pace around 130-135kph and effort ball goes to 140kph

Obviously noone wants him to be a frontline bowler.

No your way of thinking doesn't make any sense. So coach looks at his bowling, and sees that he has 6 Frontline bowlers, he sees a talented batsman who can bowl, he tells him to work on his batting and bowling when his bowking will barely be used. Those hours of practicing bowling can instead be used to improve his batting. Not to mention he will get injured more as a bowlers than batsman. Why waste someone and have a bits and pieces cricketer hen you can have a good batsman. E
 
You guys must not play hardball to realize how much effort bowling takes. You don't just bowl 5 obers in the match. You hundreds in practice

Both Asalanka and Shanaka became his prey
 
Talat should be good on sluggish surfaces. But, probably not a good bowling option on flat pitches.
