Think we should keep Amir down the order as batting skills are better than other tail-enders. Otherwise why not :)
 
Given our spinners, let's look to bat first. The deterioration should help our spinners especially since their middle order is composed of mostly right-handers. Batting second shouldn't be terrible because our attack should be able to hold them to a below-par total.

I think it should be fine to cancel the other contracts swap you had put earlier and put the new ones in (Babar as platinum now and Arshad as regular / World Cup captain as platinum now and Rayyman as gold) - since it was still before the deadline.

A bowler opening against the new ball on a normal pitch against diamond is pretty certain to lose his wicket. If Amir gets out in the first or second over for example, Babar will have to face the third over which will be bowled by Babu Bhaiya

I find this like-up good. Don’t think we should open with two tail-Enders just out of the fear of losing early wickets.

Their spin bowling is weak? How about dry pitch then?

Or we could try and take advantage of our stronger bowling unit and go for Spicy pitch
 
Spin is just slightly weaker than ours:

Batman, LegSpin, Right, 85 and Major, BowlAR, OffSpin, Right, 65

Ours is
Smudger, LegSpin, Right, 80 and Usama Mir, Leg Spin, Right, 75

If we went with dry, I would still go with 4/1 personally to take advantage of the pitch attributes.

But the greatest advantage is if we went spicy, it would allow us to back our bowlers against their strong batting lineup but their bowlers won't find as much help (due to lower attributes and limited number of good pacers). While our batsmen would hypothetically be lower rated, IU will run out of bowlers to trouble us with once we get through the new ball and it should be smooth sailing from there even on a spicy pitch if we bury our platinum's lower down the order. On the other hand, the spicy pitch allows us to provide bite against the 4 batsmen, against whom we will be helpless on a dry pitch.

To me, it's a very clear move to go 5/0 on a spicy pitch (replacing Smudger with iPakistani) and allow our bowlers maximum penetration. Anything else would run the risk of their batsmen cutting loose, and like you said, it's a positive approach to back our bowling.

Devilish is a bit more risky, but might well be worth the risk and an experiment.

There are no attributes as such , but it seems that it increases bowling skills and reduces batting skills as pitch goes from normal to spicy and so on. Reverse for dry pitch and higher.

On the other hand, if we lose the toss, chasing will be tough. The last thing we want is to lose a couple of batsmen in the first two overs. I rather have a slower start because our batsmen can make up for it later against weaker bowling.

Yea we both end up batting around same time and then one of the platinum player gets out early. Maybe if we put the two platinum bats further apart both will perform :))

Maybe in the line-up suggestion above I posted - we can even put Babar at 3?

I like the line up on post #284 but keep Babar at 4. On a spicy pitch, 1-2 wickets are guaranteed to fall and Babar shouldn't be part of the wickets.

Given our ground characteristics you are right we are probably quite likely to lose a few wickets with the new ball.

Two spin options, both Smudger and Mir. Let's also not bury our batsmen too far down. maybe open with wc captain and rayyman. One down babar, two down ahmadharis or future knick, and then you. Haven't looked at Lahore's bowling stats though

I agree shouldn’t bury our batsman too low down.

I don’t think we should open with a tailender either. They have Shaheen only as a platinum bowler.

Maybe we could consider opening with Babar. Opening the batting with platinum seems to be working for Lahore.
 
If we open with platinum then it should be with you, not Babar. Shaheen’s a leftie.

For match 9 against Quetta, thinking of going with either flat or pancake. Till now, they have lost their two games on batting friendly pitches, dry and flat, both against Lahore and batting first.

We have a terrible toss record and if it will balance out, then it's definitely worth it. Their bowling their strong suit so it won't be as helpful to them as it will help us.

Don’t worry, our bowlers will go for plenty on a nightmare track too. But yes, we need to up the net run rate as qualification looks difficult otherwise
 
If we could wait until the result of match against Lahore that would have been perfect :))

If we win the next 3 we’ll go through for sure. But honestly winning against Zalmi at their home looks difficult.

So it’s upto you skip go with what your gut says.

Yes, we'll wait for Lahore and if we don't win big, we'll have to risk it.
