Look at this result sheet and vote column for PPP votes in yesterday by elections of Lahore. Zardari or loot maar ne is party ko kaheen ka na chora they once used to rule Pakistan based on their vote bank in Punjab and Lahore.

Now even in Sindh they are limited to interior Sindh and losing the ground in urban areas.

People like Aitezaz Ehsan and Wattoo campaigned for PPP candidate and still he didn't touch 1000 votes? 819 votes

Haha don't know. Every election has some random people standing. 11 people are probably his siblings and uncles and aunts lol.

In 2013 Waqar Zaka stood in Gulshan area in Karachi and got 400+ votes. Even he was confused who voted for him :)))

haha really that joker was a candidate in 2013? :)) Meera ka to muje yaad he but iska nahi pata tha

Not surprise. I feel bad for the Sindh. They got the worse deal; both Zardari and MQM. Karachi was projected to be next Dubai at one point is derailed thank to Zardari and Altaf Hussain.

Even Balochistan is now enjoying a lot of investment thank to China. Pukhtoonistan and Punjab have their leaders who will keep the investment rolling to develop those provinces.

What about Sindh? About time they should no longer support Zardari and Altaf Hussain. Whoever support Altaf Hussain should have his head checked. :jf

King bhai it is Pakhtunkhwa not Pukhtoonistan it's a bit offensive for many people because Pukhtoonistan is the region that pakhtun nationalists claim as their own and it's based on parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan (KP and Punjab)

btw the only alternative of Altaf in Khi is PTI (second largest vote bank) as of now and you don't like them too so it's a lose-lose situation :P PMLN was never interested in Sindh or Khi and PPP was never strong in Khi like they are in Interior Sindh.

My bad. I liked NWFP better. That was originally part of 1947-map of Pakistan. Then again, East Pakistan is no longer there anymore. :|

I think the situation in Sindh is about to change since both Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif will try to woo Sindh with promising offers. That gotta be interesting sight to observe. :jf

Leadership held responsible as PPP repeats 2013 performance

LAHORE: The PPP’s hope for making a comeback in the NA-122 by-poll was dashed on Sunday after it repeated its 2013 general election performance, falsifying the tall claims of its leadership that saw the “Bhutto’s party revival” in the contest.

Some PPP leaders from Punjab were of the view that the leadership was responsible for the miserable performance of the party in the by-election.

“I would rather plainly hold PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari responsible for the routing of the PPP in NA-122 in particular and Punjab in general,” a PPP diehard said.

“While PTI chief Imran Khan Khan and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were active in running the campaign of their respective candidates, our leader was shying away from NA-122 and even did not bother to hold a video conference to bolster the campaign of his candidate Barrister Aamir Hasan,” he said, adding how could a party make a comeback without its head leading it from the front.

“If Bilawal is keen to revive the party he should better be among the workers and back his candidates in such contests,” he suggested and added it appeared that the PPP top leadership had literally given up the hope of the party’s revival in Punjab. “This humiliating defeat should be enough for Mr Bilawal to review the party policies, especially in Punjab,” he said.

Another PPP leader sees an ‘understanding’ between the PPP and PML-N in the NA-122 by-poll. “It appears that the PPP top leadership deliberately avoided to involve itself in the campaign to facilitate the N-League candidate,” he said.

He said Barrister Hasan did his best all alone. “It would not be out of place to say that the party’s top leadership left Mr Hasan in the lurch,” he said.

According to insiders, the party had given no funds to Mr Hassan to financially support his campaign. It was a major reason that no publicity material of the PPP candidate was visible in the constituency, nor there was any rush in its few camps.

PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo told Dawn that the party did not leave the arena open and fielded its candidate. “We have opted for a way of struggle. We held a major rally in the constituency but we are not disappointed by the result and would continue our struggle,” he said.

To a question about Bilawal’s refusal to take part in his candidate’s campaign, Mr Wattoo said the co-chairman faced threats from extremists whereas the PML-N and PTI chiefs were not prone to such risk because of their tacit support for such elements. “However, Mr Bilawal will start video conferencing soon to motivate the workers,” he said.

PPP senior leader Navid Chaudhry said despite gross violations of Election Commission’s code of conduct by both the PML-N and PTI candidates the PPP took part in the election.

“The ECP completely failed to check the code violations,” he said, adding the low turnout showed that the people too protested the ECP’s code of conduct violations.

Yea i still use the word Sarhad (in urdu) and NWFP (in english) sometimes because it's hard to change after decades of using same word.

The issue with both IK and Nawaz is they hardly give any value to the vote bank of Sindh because thanks to our politics and the big province Punjab and it's 148 NA seats outs of 272 so Punjab for them is more important to form federal government and they don't want to waste their energies on Sindh and Balochistan but if IK start focusing on Sindh he can easily create a vote bank in urban areas of Sindh too (in Khi his party already have second largest vote bank). IK visit Karachi once in a blue moon to show his supporters power there instead of getting vote. He really need to change his policy otherwise he will lose this Karachi vote bank that he created in last couple of years. He should focus Sindh and Khi more.

Where is Bilawal the great hope. Still working on his Urdu pronounciations.

Bilawal's choti baji was busy congrtulating maryam baji on twitter for winning yesterday. Banda inse puche 819 vote leker tum log mu dikhaane ke be qabil rahe ho kia

PMLN needed to strengthen its den first. Imran Khan was lucky and even today, he enjoys greater popularity in the whole Sindh. He should try to expand as quickly as possible knowing the position of MQM and PPP. PMLN has a long way to go with Sindh. Plus, its previous ordained military operations against MQM in the past didn't help Nawaz Sharif. Tough luck for PMLN in Karachi. :jf

Bilawal is actually nice guy. He should have distanced from his father. I guess he is gonna drag himself down to the level of Zardari for the sake of political power. :sanga

This is great for Pakistan and the mankind.

Sadly that's never going to happen because Zardari is corrupt no doubt but he is very smart too so until he die there is no chance of Bilawal taking over unless he become a baghi :yk

In the Indian General Elections 2014, Rakhi Sawant was a candidate from one of the Mumbai seats and she got 15 votes if I remember correctly.

They had a love relationship until Nawaz and PMLN needed MQM support. This is pakistani politics anything can happen anytime from love to war and operation against them and than Nawaz and Bibi sitting with each other in london during exile agreeing that they will never form a goverment with the help of MQM because MQM supported Mush. And guess what? 2 years later PPP, PMLN and MQM all were sitting in govt like good old buddies :))

It is the best thing that has ever happened to Pakistan. PPP needs to die. Its akin to cancer albeit a racist one. I remember my father telling me how he faced issues during Benazir government. Racists.

PPP government is the most corrupt in the whole set up. Good on Shah Mahmood for taking a stand in Raymond Davis case and afterwards coming to PTI.

Anyway, the ball is in the court of sindhi voters. Will they be able to beat the shackles of slave mentality?

Thank for the information of Blast from Past. I am learning a lot about unheard side of PMLN from you. That's amazing. You can never tell what to expect in the politics. God bless you. :)

It looks like PPP is using PMLN's shoulder to make a come back in Punjab and PMLN/Maryam will happily sit at the back seat.

They are a bigger joke inside Sindh (Karachi)

https://www.dawn.com/news/1675948/sindh-cm-attributes-rise-in-karachi-street-crimes-to-financial-situation-of-country

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday attributed the rise in street crimes in Karachi to the current financial situation of the country.

Talking to the media in Karachi, the chief minister was questioned about the worsening crime situation of the city, which he termed as "concerning". Explaining the possible reasons for the rise in crime, he said in many instances, those involved in such incidents who were "forced" to resort to such actions due to economic conditions.

"One reason for the rise in street crime is absolutely clear that it is the [present] financial situation [of the country]. But no one is seeking excuses and despite this, the responsibility is ours and we will fulfil it."

He said some recent measures were taken to control the situation, police had been given necessary instructions and there was hope that an improvement would be seen. He added that technological improvements on the Safe Cities project were also in their final stages.

Questioned about Friday's murder of a journalist in Karachi who was shot dead by armed robbers during an alleged snatching bid, CM Shah said three to four different leads were being worked on and the perpetrators would be arrested soon.

The chief minister pointed out that the worsening law and order situation was a problem afflicting most cities of the country and not solely limited to Karachi, which he said received more attention due to being a major city.

CM Shah was also asked about the many recent harassment cases in Sindh's educational institutions which he described as "unfortunate". He stressed that measures, from judicial inquiries to changing administrative boards of institutions, had been taken to tackle the issue.

Earlier in the day, Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani also addressed the rise in street crimes and said no "considerable decrease" had been observed despite police efforts.

Regarding journalist Ather Mateen's murder, he said the police were on the right track and his killers would be apprehended in addition to the "very big street crime network operating in this city".

Like CM Shah, Ghani too said that crimes were occurring in other cities as well and it was wrong to "single out" Karachi.

Karachi has seen an increase in incidents of street crime recently with growing complaints from all segments of society, which have also called out the security administration for its failure to curb such incidents.

Amid the situation, the Sindh government last week abruptly removed the Karachi police chief, Additional Inspector General Imran Yaqoob Minhas, after only nine months on the post and replaced him with his predecessor, Ghulam Nabi Memon.

On January 12, armed robbers killed a trader, belonging to the Hindu community, and looted Rs7.3 million that he drew from a bank in a Clifton area. A 28-year-old recently married man was also shot dead by a lone robber upon resistance on Kashmir Road and a 50-year-old man was shot dead when he resisted a robbery bid near Buraq petrol pump on Superhighway in other crime incidents that same day.
