And looks like Pakistan have declared. Good choice

(386/7 declared)

Second innings has started.

After 4 overs, Cricket Australia XI are 2/0

Bowlers:

Muhammad Abbas - 2 overs, 0/0 2 maiden overs
Muhammad Musa Khan - 2 overs 0/2 1 maiden over

Muhammad Abbas gets a wicket. Cricket Australia X1 are 2/1 after 5 overs

Muhammad Abbas - 3 overs, 1/0 3 maiden overs, 1 wicket, what a start

Who are these losers in the Australian team. The Sri Lanka C team looked better then this

10 overs, Cricket Australia XI are 17/2

Bowlers:

Muhummad Abbas - 1/7 (5 overs) 3 maiden overs
Muhammad Musa Khan - 1/10 (5 overs) 2 maiden overs

Naseem Shah is bowling now

Naseem looks to be better than Musa. He should be groomed and used properly , in next couple of years can be very good and dangerous prospect.

Man, Naseem Shah is in his second over and has conceded 13 runs of the first 4 balls (3x4)

Misbah the great spreadsheet selector might actually end up playing Imran and Abbas if Naseem doesn't tighten up here

Naseem concedes another four. Starting to get a bit worried that he may not be selected for the first test (although some of the boundaries he conceded were edges through slip)

Abbas has shown enough (Hitting his regular channel with good eco) I guess to be given a nod for the first test though this isnt much of an opposition but still I think him being a senior bowler bowling decently here might do the trick for him. Still it would be confusing that which 3 bowlers will start in the the first test or maybe 4 fast bowlers and Iftikhar as the spin bowling option.

Abbas had psychological advantage against aus due to heroic in last test series against them in uae (though smith and warner was not part of it) . common sense should be prevail and abbas should lead us in first test with shaheen shah and nasim shah as third seamer while looking at kashif today's performance yasir seems to be way better

Abbas
Shaheen
Nasim shah
Yasir shah

Goodwin 6(18) c Rizwan b Musa.

Abbas bowls out Jake Carter for a duck earlier today.

Carter 0(18) b Abbas.

I think going for Abbas with Shaheen and Naseem is risky . Two test rookies playing in Australia and one of them could easily unravel. I suppose any bowler could but this is to much of a risk . It’s a tricky decision but it’s one which could backfire either way .

In this line up, Shaheen would be considered a bit experienced. Right now both Musa and Naseem are playing. Only one of those two should play any one game.

Naseem a little expensive also 46 runs in 9 overs

Naseem having a difficult day I don't mind it actually should keep him and the coaching staff in reality check at the moment they are hyping him up as if he is Lillie or Headlee already

Yeah better that he has an off day in a warm up than a test match if he can use it to correct any issues. The only concern is Misbah using his expensive figures today as a reason to play Imran instead

Yes, you are right. He should be taking 7-8 wickets every inning.

Let’s not be critical of N. Shah please.

Imagine you have been posted overseas for a job with a project team you hardly know. Suddenly you find out your mother has passed away who is thousands of miles away from you.

The kid shouldn’t be in Aus - not good mentally for him; so let’s not be harsh on him in any way please.

None of the young bowlers should play under Waqar. He is a terrible coach.

Read the commentary, Most of the boundaries of Naseem Shah are edges through the slips or uncontrolled drives through point. Very few genuine shots according to cricket.com.au

Don't think anyone's being particularly critical. It's an incredibly tough situation for the boy. At the same time we have to be realistic, and in the 12 overs he's bowled today Naseem has probably halved his chance of making a test debut next week

Probably a mix of poor bowling and poor captaincy

Its not wise to play Nasim against Australia main team. Warner and Smith will destoy him.

1st practice game - Naseem is good man. He can trouble aussie batsman. Should definitely play.

2nd practice game - Naseem a bit expensive today. Off day. Warner and smith will destroy him, not wise to play him the test match.

Our PP Experts. Lol

Then why the hell was he taken on the tour.

You need proper planning before tourning Australia. Nasim Shah is not Wasim Akram. His bowling is good but Australia has highly skilled batsmen.
It doesn't help when Waqar is the bowling coach.

Pakistani's better bowling performance the other day was because of Imran Khan Sr. And not playing him in this match clearly shows the difference. I would prefer him over M Abbas at least in the 1st match.

He should play. Him and Shaheen provide us with something different. Has shown enough ability to deserve a shot at this Australian team.

That being said, disappointed by our bowlers facing this rookie XI. Musa did well though, which is a positive. We finally have four very decent pace bowling options, who are young and can only get better from here.

I feel for Naseem already. He has very good potential, however the way he has been praised by most on this forum in the first practice match only means it’s down hill for him now. One poor spell or a bad game and he will be called a hype job . This is the unfortunate “mentality “ of many people who post on here .

Pakistan did well in the practice games. Can they do the same in real games? Let's see.

Pakistan's raw pace attack have been given a wake-up call ahead of the Test series against Australia after struggling to fire in a stalemate against a youth-laden Cricket Australia XI outfit.

In reply to Pakistan's 7(dec)-386, the CA XI were reeling at 2-6 in the two-day tour match at the WACA Ground, after Mohammad Abbas and 19-year-old Muhammad Musa struck early on Saturday in scorching heat.

But Pakistan struggled to make further inroads, with a 122-run stand between Jonathan Merlo (78) and Matthew Spoors (58) frustrating the visitors.

The CA XI outfit, featuring just five players with first-class experience, finished at 7-245, with the match ending in a draw.

Bradley Hope finished unbeaten on 50.

Pakistan batsman Imam-ul-Haq went off the field for treatment after jarring his neck while fielding a ball during the morning session.

Although the injury didn't appear serious, he will be monitored ahead of the first Test, starting on Thursday at the Gabba.

Temperatures soared past 40C on Saturday, and Pakistan made the hottest of starts to the day after declaring on their overnight score.

Jake Carder fell for an 18-ball duck when he chopped Abbas onto his stumps.

And Jayden Goodwin made only six before he edged Musa behind, leaving the home side in early strife.

But the prospect of Pakistan ripping through the rest of the CA XI line-up were thwarted by fighting efforts from Merlo and Spoors.

The brave display was in stark contrast to the limp effort Australia A produced when they were rolled by Pakistan for 122 earlier this week.

That performance sent a powerful message to Australia's Test team about the talent of Pakistan's pace attack.

But Pakistan weren't able to back it up against the CA XI.

Naseem Shah, a 16-year-old who had been likened to Dennis Lillee, unleashed some ferocious bouncers on Saturday but wasn't able to snare a wicket.

He finished with 0-58 from 12 overs.

Abbas (2-22 from 14 overs) was the standout bowler, while Musa (2-32 from 14 overs) was economical.

Merlo, who was playing at the WACA for the first time, was impressed by Pakistan's bowlers.

"The two young quicks were quite good, especially being 19 and 16," he said.

"They impressed us boys with their sheer pace and raw talent.

"You don't really like it coming at your head, but you get used to it pretty quick."

Both Imran Khan, who snared 5-32 against Australia A, and 19-year-old Shaheen Afridi didn't bowl in the second warm-up match.

Asad Shafiq's unbeaten 101 was the highlight of day one, with teenage spinner Lloyd Pope (5-100) also impressing.

Pakistan were just going easy IMO
Similar to what India did in 2018. India conceded over 400 runs in 2018 against the CA XI.

Has there ever been a result in a 2 day game?

As 2 day games aren't even classified as first class matches (3 days is the minimum requirement for a match to be termed a "first class" match), I don't think getting a result is the goal. It's intended to give the touring side some practice.

As for your question, I don't think so

azhar Ali really really need to lift his game up
& put value on his wicket even if he cant score runs atleast try to frustrate bowlers & try to negate the new ball .
