So can Pakistan beat this 'B' side?

Strange feeling SA are going to win this series

I hope not. Pakistan just need to make a good playing XI, and not be braindead in the field for once.

If we play the following, we can give SAF a fight. The Gaddafi is actually pretty good for spinners in the 1st innings, whoever bowls second won't have a good outing with the ball. So ideally, we should bowl first to avoid the dew factor.

Babar Azam (c)
Haider Ali
Sarfaraz Ahmed
Hussain Talat
Danish Aziz
Khushdil Shah
Faheem Ashraf
Mohammad Nawaz
Usman Qadir
Haris Rauf
Shaheen Shah Afridi

I think this squad would be good, though there is an option of removing Usman Qadir for maybe Zafar Gohar, but that would make things redundant with two LA spinners.

Notable inclusion is probably Sarfaraz Ahmed, and simply because his T20 record is superior than Rizwan's. Just my opinion on the matter.

First match begins tomorrow.

Looking at the SA squad, we really should not be doing worse than a 3-0 win, especially at home.

Banking on Usman Qadir and Haider Ali to blow them away

Pakistan will win the series. That's what I feel. Regardless, T20 cricket is a waste of time for me.

Too many new faces in both the SA as well as Pakistan side. Miller is the only T20 explosive batsman in the SA side that we all knowm

What time do the T20Is start?

The first T20I is tomorrow but there is confusion about when it starts.

If I am not mistaken, our last 2 T20I home series, against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe were day games, which they shouldn't be - day night games are a lot better in T20 cricket in the sub continent. It seems some website/tv broadcasters are listing it as a 1530 start but some other sites are listing it as an 1830 start - a day/nighter. The PP countdown on the home page assumes it as 1530 start.

Does anyone know when it begins?

WHY OH WHY DO THEY START MATCHES EARLY?

What's wrong with day-nighters?

Realistically speaking Pakistan should be winning this series quite comfortably.

I hope bowlers like Usman Qadir, Mohammad Hasnain, and other get chances to show what they can do.

Also want to see Danish Aziz and Hussain Talat be given chances, they're better than what we make them to be.

Zafar should be given a chance too.

Overall, I'm focused on our spin attack and our batting, if those two things come good then that's a good sign moving forward.

Whoever is given a role must latch onto it because if there are any astronomical players in the PSL, they will fight for contention. This series is a decider for Rizwan in my opinion.

I think the result of the series will be dependent upon the combination which Pak goes with. On paper Pak should win the series but, in T20s on a good day any player can take the game away from you and once you loose the momentum in the series it can get tough.

Some of the batsmen in the SA squad are pretty good. Everyone knows about Miller and Klaasen but, Malan, Rickleton and Snyman are some pretty decent young players as well. In bowling Stuurman has pretty impressive domestic record.

Why we can’t make decent looking trophies?

I think Nawaz should play instead of Zafar for balance for sure..With Faheems form things are looking good we just need the right power hitters. I think we will win the series no doubt but might not be 3 0 hope i am wrong

Klaasan is the captain..they have smuts..they hendricks...they have MILLER...i mean how is that a second string these are proven 2020 players and you only need one to perform.

Babar Azam (c)
Haider Ali
Asif Ali
Sarfaraz Ahmed
Iftikhar Ahmed
Khushdil Shah
Ammad Butt
Zafar Gohar
Zahid Mahmood
Haris Rauf
Shaheen Shah Afridi

Limited-overs batsman David Miller will be cast in a leadership role when SA face Pakistan in a three-match T20 series, and he is embracing the responsibility.

The series begins at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday and Miller is part of the leadership group — together with stand-in captain Heinrich Klaasen‚ Reeza Hendricks‚ Jon-Jon Smuts‚ Andile Phehlukwayo and Tabraiz Shamsi — that will guide the largely inexperienced Proteas against their full-strength hosts.

Miller is the only player in the T20 squad to have played cricket in Pakistan and he said on Wednesday he would draw from his experience of playing at this level.

“Leadership comes when you have a bit of experience and having played many games for your country‚” he said.

“It also comes with being secure in your role and knowing what you want to do‚ which brings calmness and clarity towards the squad and certain players who haven’t necessarily been on the international circuit‚ and gives them reassurance in their role.

“I just want to help out youngsters wherever I can off the field and also on the field as we all know cricket is all about performances. You need to stick up your hand when the team requires you. We all need to perform but it does help a lot when senior players perform because it takes the team into a completely different path.”

Miller urged his teammates to adjust their game plans when needed as the conditions are going to be different from what they are used in SA‚ where there is generally pace and bounce.

“I have played in Pakistan but it was a very brief time in my career‚” he said. “I think we played three games against Pakistan with the World XI in 2017. Being in Pakistan this week‚ we have quickly realised what the conditions are going to be having watched the Test matches and what’s taken place there.

“Generally the bounce is a lot lower‚ unlike back home. But the guys have travelled around the world enough to be able to adapt. They have played in different conditions in SA and where there might be particular venues that are pretty low.

“In terms of preparations‚ we are really in a good space and we will have to assess as we go along and react very quickly during the game on Thursday‚ and according to what the wicket gives us. So far in the nets and side strips‚ the bounce has not been too high.”

Pakistan have named their strongest possible squad to be led by inspirational captain Babar Azam‚ but Miller said they intend to compete.

“There have been a lot of chats about [how we are] a young side and an inexperienced team. But I think it creates a lot of opportunities for guys to step up with this being a World Cup year. It would be great to play guys that we are accustomed to‚ but at the same time it gives an opportunity for the guys to step up. We have prepped extremely well this week,” he said.

Match start 1:00pm GMT

Why has there been so much confusion? Last two T20I series vs Bangladesh and Zimbabwe were day games and most sites, including this one, had it list at 1030 GMT start but it turns out it starts at 1300 GMT afterall.

Can anyone explain why there is so much confusion?

There will never be a better chance than this to beat South Africa 3-0 in a T20I series.

They look a very weak and inexperienced squad.

It's a good chance but it'll still be a good series. Even this weakened SA team is 10x better than Zimbabwe and Bangladesh who we have beaten recently.

Two people have posted their line ups and both have Sarfaraz in their teams. :facepalm

South Africa have levelled the series at 1-1 today. What are your predictions for the series decider tomorrow?

I have this nagging feeling we might lose this series 2-1. Wouldn't be new to lose a home white ball series for this management

I still have Pak winning 2-1 here, but so far this series has been pretty lackluster for them. I at least expected one blowout win for Pak but so far it's been a close win and a comprehensive loss for them. I'd feel more at ease here if not only Pak wins this series but win so in a dominant manner. For that, the like of Babar, Haider, Shaheen need to pop off.
