Predict the outcome of the England versus India Test series in 2021

In a typical english conditions, we will struggle to win or draw more than One test (especially with our current top and middle order batsmen who are going through a lean patch for quite some time).

If it is a dry summer with flat wickets, we may put up a good fight.

Not having high hopes but want us to compete well.

Possibly a 4-1 in England's favor, ATM.

That's the test isn't it. They conquered spin, they conquered pace and bounce. The swing is their final test. If they conquer that, they are undeniably the best team in this generation. If they don't, they are the only team that conquered 2 out of 3 and will the best test team in this generation with an asterisk.

I doubt they will conquer sideway movement anytime soon tbh. For that you will need a new generation of batsmen because current ones from top order aren’t capable.

The 4-1 and 3-1 scorelines are misleading. Don't think England's batting is that good either. Sam Curran and Washington Sundar saved the last two test series between these two teams with their batting at key junctures. Will be another series of twists and turns. Whoever captures those moments will win the series.

One difference I see from the new generation of Indian batsmen is their high back lift, be it Mayank Agarwal or Prithvi Shaw or Shubman Gill. Maybe it's an influence of T20 cricket growing up but it presents an ideal opportunity for the opposition pacers to attack their pads with the inswinger. Especially when someone like Prithvi Shaw leaves as huge a gap that he leaves when bringing the bat down, the inducker is going to account for them most of the times.

Don't remember the past generation of test batsmen having as high a backlift except Ganguly.

very similar state of affairs for both the teams. Good seam/swing bowling and lower order batting is in good form with top order out of form/inexperienced. Spinners aren't effective because of conditions. Guessing 3-2 or 4-1 to England. If atleast one of Pujara/Kohli/Rahane were in form, I would have taken a chance with India winning but that is not the case

Yuvraj had a high backlift too. And Lara had the most pronounced backlift too. More than the backlift, it's deficiency in skills to handle the moving ball. Mayank I think is done. Shaw and Fill have time on their side and can improve.

But Yuvraj hardly had a decent test career.

Lara yes, but he had the most incredible eye and reflexes which I doubt guys like Agarwal and Shaw have. They always seem to be a bit late to react to the inducker. Watching Agarwal in Australia was a pain. Everyone knew they were going to attack his pads and I'm pretty sure he knew it as well, but he still got done in by the fast inswinging delivery from Starc.

Sta4c and then Bolt before that. When he tries to open his stance a bit, they bowl outside off stump, he gets squared and nicks it off. He's been found out.
