Everyone knows that our artificial ranking in T20Is will blow up in pieces eventually - it is a fake ranking built on beating minnows, high-ranked teams playing second fiddle sides + playing too many matches against the West Indies (on slow tracks).

If there is a World T20 today with all teams playing their best XIs, Pakistan will not come up close to winning. It is barely top 5-6 if we take full-strength teams into consideration, let alone occupy 1st position by a margin of 8 points. A complete mockery of the ranking system.

Having said that, Australia is actually a very average T20I side especially on UAE-style wickets. Not that our players are pulling trees in these conditions, but any team with 2-3 specialist spinners will run circles around Australia.

Maybe not in ODIs because they are too calculated for that format, but I would back Afghanistan to beat a Smith and Warner-less Australia in a short T20I series, which is why seeing a bits and pieces player like Shadab occupying the specialist spinner role is getting on my nerves. One can maybe find 20 better spinners than him in Ranji Trophy, and maybe 10 each now in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan cricket.

He is not competing for a spot with anyone of them, but he is blocking at least 5 better spinners in Pakistan domestic for diving around like a dolphin in the field and batting like a tail-ender at number 7.

With accomplished spinners, Pakistan should be beating this Australian team 3-0 in a T20I series in the UAE 9/10 times, which is still possible but it will take a lot more effort from the players carrying the load of this team. The fact that the slot of specialist spinner #2 is being blocked by Faheem and whatever the role he is pretending to play for Pakistan is a topic for another day.

Not so much dear. This is quite a decent T20 squad for AUS and looks like they have started to prepare for next 2 WCs. Also, few players are already in UAE, which should help them acclimatize better. If you look at their possible line-up

Finch, Short, Lynn
Carey+, Maxi, Mcdermott, Marsh
Ager/Zampa, Strac, Stanlake, Lyon/Zampa

This is a frightening T20 side.

In contrast, PAK has picked MoHa, and most likely XI is

FZ, MoHa, Babar
Sarfraz+, Malik, Talat,
Shadab, Imad, Fahim
Afridi, Hasan

Not sure how many in that top 8 belongs to T20I batting. One thing for sure - if PAK is to win, FZ has to be MoS, unless some bowler turns some exceptional return.

You probably do understand by now that UAE condition isn't that much of a strength for PAK - Aussies have picked 2 specialist spinners while Maxi'll bowl as well, and their hitting power is much explosive than PAK - I have seen guys like Finch, Mcdermott, Short, Lynn, Carey, Mitch, Maxi ....

Don't want to put a score line here, because it's inviting unnecessary trolls, but I think AUS are favorites to win this series - don't know 2-1 or 3-0. They are also angry enough to return with something at hand after Test series.

Pakistan have been good at choking the opposition with Imad and Shadab once the batters put 150 on the board. However if Australia bats first, I could see Pakistan crumbling under the pressure of the increasing run rate. Imperative for Australia to bat first in these conditions.
