3 Tests:

1st Test, Centurion, Dec 26 - 30
2nd Test, Johannesburg, Jan 3 - 7
3rd Test, Cape Town, Jan 11 - 15

South Africa have suffered a huge loss after Anrich Nortje was ruled out of the series due to injury.

What do you think will be the outcome of the series?

On Paper, South Africa's batting is very weak and India should win the series 2-1. But the question is how Indian batsmen, some of them , like Pujar and Rehane are low in confidence , perform .

I think RSA will prepare true pitches to try and help their own batting stand up. Don't think we will see green seamers like last tour.

Could go 2-0 to either side with whoever takes early momentum sustaining it through. Am expecting one decent run scoring wkt draw possibly in first test

Rain predicted on all 5 days of first test.

So it's probably going to be a 1-1 draw. India are prone to have one stinker of a test in almost every series (Adelaide, Chennai, Headingley)..

3 day are enough for result on green mamba as both team have outstanding bowling attack and both batting line-up are fragile .

Agree with this.

SA will miss Norjte but their bowling is still strong. Their batting has gone down in the last few years. India will miss Rohit and Gill (had formed a good settled opening partnership). India will also miss lower order runs from Jadeja. So, lot depends on Kohli, Rahane, and Pujara - will be a good test for these three, especially latter two.

Though India's batting lineup is in appalling form, this is our best chance to create history in RSA. India are deservingly favorites to win the series but lot will depend on our batting and team selection.
Virat now has experience of leading more than 50 test matches, so hopefully he will not repeat selection mistakes like previous tour.
In last tour, India bowled out RSA in all 6 innings, but our batting let us down. Looking at out of form middle order, India should play with only 4 bowlers with Shardul being 12th man for us.

First test may not see a result. Gloomy weather, may have effectively only 2.5 days of action.

If that is the case I think 1-1. We don't have a middle order. On form Pujara-Kohli-Rahane won't get more runs than the bottom 3 of Bumrah-Shami-Siraj. Worst middle order in Indian cricket history.

Rohit's absence will be felt, he alone made up for the middle order clowns in England.

I voted SA because I hate to jinx our chances. But I see it ending up 2-1 either way. and the wins will be close not out right.

Even though we are much more settled than SA as a team, our batting form is poor and we're gonna be out there with a new opening pair again. We heavily depend on openers firing for our chances in overseas tests.

My only concern is if all the drama that played around Kohli's sacking will affect the team.

India very strong side and are expected to win this series. No 2 ways about it.

My vote looks like a misfire!

Am now going for 3-0 to India…

SA will go in with an all out pace attack with Duane Oliver, good chance SA will level the series next match.. However Indian bowlers will be just as hard to face, will be a great match...

India has historical chance of whitewashing RSA. But, we must fix our batting lineup ASAP. Toss is also an important factor.

I thought 2-1 either way before the series. Still think the same. SA could win the last test. SA has shown a fight even in the first test and it was not some lucky win in 2nd test. Some inexperience in the team, but bodes well for the future.

Good solid middle order players in the lineup at least for SA conditions. If markram get some runs there are certainly favorites for 3rd test.

Yah, the team does not have the skills to compete on turning tracks, but nice to see a fighting attitude at home.

2022 has started off with two results most people were not expecting. Bangladesh beating New Zealand and South Africa beating India.

At the start I kept RSA as slight favts, so I'll stick to it. India can surely win if they bat properly, not the usual 100/5 stuff again.

At the beginning of series i was thinking 2-0 India.

But Markram and RVd could be due in the third test. If SA post a big total its curtains for Indian batting. They have just looked off all series besides day 1 at centurion.

I'd expect India to bounce back in the final Test, pound-for-pound they are simply a superior side to SA. Aside from Elgar and Bavuma, the rest of the batsmen don't seem to have a clue, even in their own conditions.

If the Indian pacers have another off-game like in this 2nd Test though, SA will fancy their chances of series victory. They are India's premier match-winners, so much is dependent and reliant on their performances.

So who would have though SA would even compete with a full strength India?

Never, I was sure India would whitewash this team. Australia would minnow bashed this team. I feel the fault lies with India. They will have to rebuild, and rethink.

Credit to this SA though, they showed some grit.

To be honest I expected a 3-0 win for India. Gavaskar was saying something similar as well in post match commentary.

With the inexperienced batting lineup of SAF where Elgar is not only the most experienced but also the stalwart of the batting unit India surely fancied their chances. On top of that India had Bumrah and Shami in the prime of their careers with Siraj and Umesh more than handful in such conditions. Further if you add Thakur and his knack of picking wickets then surely getting 20 wickets wasn't much of an issue for this Indian bowling unit.

I'm truly surprised that apart from first test match India hasn't been able to pick 20 wickets in the last 2 matches. Bumrah isn't even in the top 3 wicket taker for series and isn't the highest wicket taker for India either in the series. Very surprising result and credit must go to SAF for winning this series. It would be good to see how this series result would impact the WTC standings.
