India has done well to reach the final. But the odds are stacked against them. For one, their batting in England the last time they toured there was poor. For another, their record in ICC knockouts since 2013 has been poor. New Zealand should go into this as the favourites.

As it's an ICC event, I expect a relatively flatter wicket than the ones we got in 2014 and 2018 so that game lasts five days. We may even see some turn later on.. So, India are the favourites.

India qualified for the World Test Championship final in style, thumping England by an innings and 25 runs in the fourth and final Test in Ahmedabad on Saturday. India bundled out the visitors for a paltry 135 in their second innings to clinch the four-match series 3-1. The win helped India secure their berth in the inaugural WTC final where they will take on New Zealand. Ravichandran Ashwin, one of the stars of India's win and the Man of the Series, said for some members of the Indian team, the World Test Championship final was comparable to the ODI World Cup.

The Indian dressing room has some Test specialists like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma, among others, who only play the longest format. Ashwin, who last played an ODI in 2017, has also become a Test specialist.

NZL have only won 1 Test in England in the last 20 years and lost 8 tests, so certainly a very poor record, infact it is the worst record out of all the top 8 teams in England in the last 2 decades.

Lords in june usually should be a good dry batting surface aslong as weathers good aswell. I think india spinners should enjoy the surface in comparision to if the game was in April or may.

No real difference is how lower middle order ( 5-6-7-8)perform from both sides decided the results

The last time these two teams toured england india averaged 25 with the bat and 30 with the ball so technically fell short by 50 runs every time. The weather conditions are beyond their control — this year, after a heatwave in May there was an Atlantic front that resulted in a lot of cold, wet days (with another heatwave right at the end of June).

Let’s see what the weather does. This June in London we had four sunny days, twelve cloudy days and fourteen days when it rained. We had a whole week in when the average temperature was 16 C.

Their cricketers treat the game of cricket just as profession. The craze ain't there as much for Kiwi fans for cricket. It is different with other sports like Rugby though.

It depends on a multitude of factors.

Now, for Indian fans, would you play Jadeja over an extremely in-form Axar Patel, knowing that Jadeja won't play a test until the WTC Final?

Similarly, another thing to look at is Gill's form. Would you persist with Gill or go back to perhaps another opener like KL Rahul?

I suppose the conditions depend as well, but one thing is for certain, if Pujara and Kohli can fire for India in the final, they will be the clear favourites to win.

It's an inaugural event, so it carries more weight. With one game, if the conditions are more suited to New Zealand, it would be difficult for India, but if they can do it at the Gabba, they can do it in England.
