ISLAMABAD: A pregnant woman who had been forced to drink acid by her husband passed away Wednesday in a hospital here in the federal capital after enduring five days of agony, authorities confirmed.

The woman was forced to drink acid at her home in Al Noor Colony in Islamabad, officials from the Bhara Kahu police station said. A first information report (FIR) was registered on behalf of the deceased's brother, police said, adding that they have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The woman's brother, on whose behalf the FIR was filed, said his sister had a nine-year-old daughter. He said neither he nor any other family member was informed about the incident.

They were shocked to find out that she had been forced to drink acid and admitted to a hospital, the brother said.

Police said they have filed the FIR under Section 336 and initiated an investigation. The woman also gave birth to a stillborn baby three days ago, they added.

Police further noted that they would take action in light of the FIR once a medical test and the post-mortem of the deceased have been completed.

One cannot even imagine what they do in Pakistan.

This society is messed up and destined to be doomed and destroyed forever.

Why doesn’t the media show the positive face of Pakistan? We have the 2nd tallest mountain in the world. We are a nuclear power. Our northern area is breathtaking. We are the most hospitable people.Pakistani men are the best looking according to a survey.

The media always tries to defame Pakistan and Islam. Shameful!

Typical Pakistani. Victim mentality. We need to bring women being abused to the forefront of Pakistan. Show the world. Have the world know and Hopefully have things change.

No one cares about the second tallest mountain. Which by the way, Pakistan player no roles in developing or creating. It’s just a natural creation. Pakistan had nothing to do with it.

I think the entire world is messed up. Yesterday i was reading the news that two homeless people were burnt when someone lit their tent on fire. One of them died after receiving severe burns and another is struggling for life. This is in the UK, the land of gentlemen. I have given up hope now. Humanity is dead.

True. This is a conspiracy against Pakistan as usual

Are you married brother ? do you know the relation between husband and a wife ? are you a father ? do you know the relation between a father and his unborn child ... I am not saying what happend in UK is not brutal but dont compare please.

Let's not genealize a country. This collective shaming needs to end.

Being from Pakistan I am more worried about Pakistan and this is quite common in Pakistan.

Dont pull out stats on me in Pakistan these cases are hardly ever even reported things are worst in Pakistan as compared to rest of the world in my opinion.

Okay? This is terrible news but it isn't unique to Pakistan. You have bizarre cases like this all over the world, every year in America there homicide, rapes, molestations with the perp being family members. Condemn the individuals involved, not collectively shame a whole group of people.

What a vile human being... needs to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Actually do not kill him, use him to test medicines in a locked away facility. Use humans like these for all medicines, or anything other such items instead of animals..

I am condemning the society where crimes like these happen every day and where a husband beating his wife is considered even justified in several situations. I am not American or related to America, and I don't care what happens when in America. I am worried about Pakistan, and I, for a fact, know that this is not an isolated incident and that society in my country is going down the drain hole.

I am single. Please try to argue with trends. In many cases of crime the perpetrator is often close to the victim, many a times they are family members. A stranger burning another stranger for literally no reason apart from kicks is actually worse because its senseless violence with no reason at all. Anyway this is a crime against humanity also.

Clearly you cant relate to the issue someone burning someone unknown can have ten thousand reasons (not justified) but reasons beind that are yet to be found. A husband forcing his pregnant wife to drink acid is beyond anything I can imagine.

You are most probably too young to understand it.
