Prime Minister spoke to Mr Imran Khan, Chairperson of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party and congratulated him for his party emerging as the largest political party in the National Assembly of Pakistan in the recently conducted general elections.

Prime Minister expressed hope that democracy will take deeper roots in Pakistan.

Prime Minister also reiterated his vision of peace and development in the entire neighborhood.

As per sources, Imran Khan’s PTI is likely to invite SAARC nation leaders for the swearing-in ceremony. Top sources within the PTI party have said to Republic TV that a final call will be taken soon after members of National Assembly take oath. Imran Khan could invite PM Narendra Modi or EAM Sushma Swaraj.

The guest list could also include Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar and a few top Indian industrialists. If invited, it will be an important reciprocation of PM Narendra Modi’s phone call on Monday evening. PM Modi during his 2014 oath-taking ceremony for PM’s office had invited all SAARC nation leaders including then Pak PM Nawaz Sharif.

Election time in india is coming soon. I dnt see how bjp will do this gesture. Because opposition congress will eat them alive and congress is not losing any opportunity to take a dig at bjp . If even a mosquito gets killed congress blames it to bjp.
I dnt see modi or any indian coming to pakistan. Environment in india is almost anti pakistan. I would be surprised if they come there. Though we personally wudnt mind if they go and meet pakistan p.m.

I don't think Modi will go (which is a shame) but I hope he sends someone senior from the government - Sushma Swaraj perhaps?

Nawaz Sharif took a big political risk when attending Modi's swearing in - India should do the same.

Modi seems acute but I don't think his vote-bank will agree for a pro (or even geopolitical realism) Pak stance, he'll have to remain passive like during the Gujarat riots. Also he probably fell for the intl. media cabal against Imran 'Taliban/Army puppet' Khan.

When India accepts to open up bilateral relationships it's for a strategic reason : they know that they'll "fail", and say to the the UN & co, "look, we try our best to make peace, but they won't" and which vindicates the Indian narrative.

The last time there was a chance for "peace" was in 1947.

Man you have no idea how many more abuses he will get that he compromised kashmir ,what about 56 inch chest. What about we will teach pakistan lesson and congress wud eat them alive.
I know modi is an excellent orator .but i am not sure that how he will justify this although this is the logical hour of the need to go there and start again something worth perhaps.

Abuses doesn’t matter,he can manage Pakistan visit easily,especially with IK as PM.

If he loses election it will be mainly because of caste equations.If opposition put join candidates by considering all caste arithmetic it will be pretty difficult.

Im not sure if Imran meeting Modi will harm his election campaign but knowing his support is from the right, it probably will.

Idealy Rahul Ghandi and Imran would be better partners and both could achieve some sort of lasting peace. You can't expect Hindu extremists to work with Imran.

He might be a rubbish politican but he's not a Hindu extremist and would want to have a legacy like previous members of his family. For this reason, I feel he can achieve some sort of peace and resoluation for his own legacy.

Since you mentioned it, yes isnt pretty but this is irrelevent. I really dont know much about her. Rahul Ghandi has the name behind him and he seems a guy who will like to have peace. I can't trust the BJP or other extremists.

Just because Rahul have name behind no one need to agree his name for PM,this is democracy not kingdom.On his own he can’t even win 50 seats.

You mean Nehru who refused to acede to the demands of making MA Jinnah the PM and give extra rights to muslims but rather have the country divided and then went onto lead India in its first war with Pakistan?

Or Indira who divided Pakistan into two?

You are looking at the wrong place if you are looking for a govt to roll over and give Pakistan a walk over.

The world's current problem is muslim extremism and not hindu extremism.

I dont care who the leader of India is. Im pointing out it will be difficult to make peace with Hindu extremists like the BJP.

It's best you stick to your own country as there is only one Hindu nation but many Muslims nation in the world.

According to Rahul Ghandi, Hindu extremism was the biggest threat to India and he's spot on.

Its difficult to have peace with a nation that supports terrorism in India. A charge that other nations too make at Pakistan. So this hindu extremist narrative doesnot wash with anyone in the world.Pakistanis are put under extreme vetting lists not Indians.

What other nations have to do with Pakistan? Which muslim country declared war on India in support of Pakistan?Have muslim countries put sanctions on India? Whats your this fantasy of many muslim countries?Lol.

It;s simple, instead of crying , get rid of the Hindu extremists in your country which Rahul rightly called out and stop abusing innocent people in Kashmir and peace can prevail.

Rahul is mandh budhi person.nobody takes him seriously. In india byaanbaaji statements happen all the time to every section and by every section of society. Now you only like to pick his statement then its your choice.

I wud want peace between both countries. It wud beneifit india and my state punjab as well alot . It will give a industrial boost to our punjab as most of the travel and trading would be done through punjab.tgere wud be many many other benifits to punjabis.
What i may do ? I will just wait and watch how imran khan does .if he can idependently take decisions without much influence and interferance from army and get support from public them i would like to engage with him.
If only hafeez saeed even if he dies natural death ,if india cant catch him or pakistan cant handover him to india then i would like to resume sports ties with taking imran khan into confidence,then may be cultural ties and trading ties. Peoplw to people contact is important and tourism should be done more often and then may be discuss kashmir.
Indians believe pok is theirs and pakistanis vice versa. So some solution may get reached. There can be many things that can be done.

In summary you want Hafiz Saeed to die and Pakistan to be safe before any peace moves take place? I didn't know Indians cared so much about Pakistan.

Well in ideal scenario i wud want hafeez seed arrested in india. If that cant haopen then hopefully he dies painful death which he will i am sure and Na itsnot like caring about pakistan .
Its caring about india and my state punjab which would benifit alot if relations improve.imran khan needs to improve condition of pakistan and then only engage with india after 2019 indian elections.

On the contrary, being the leader of a Hindu extremist govt, Modi is in a unique position to work with Imran Khan, someone like Rahul Gandhi would have to make himself look more extreme otherwise he would get slaughtered by the right wing lobby in India.

Modi should show some leadership and fly to Pakistan to meet directly with the new PM to show he is his own man and won't have his agenda dictated by underlings.

This has summarized what is pretty close to a best case scenario, great post. Punjab has suffered from the SAD and drug mafia which was pushed by those in power to eradicate any trace of the Khalistani movement and it was successful, thankfully it failed in Kashmir (I'm not sure how though, probably long Islamic heritage or sth). Hopefully Punjab grows again under Captain Amrinder :19:

It's like the hawkish Likud making peace with Sadat back in the 80s, the extremists succeeded where the moderates failed. We'll see what happens soon enough
 
Funny to see Muslims who take pride in Pakistan being "Islamic" republic and defend laws like Blasphemy label their Indian Hindu counterparts as extremists.
 
Token invitation through the FO for the oath taking ceremony should be in order. However, most importantly we should make sure that Putin and Chinese PM are invited with delegations going there to personally invite them. There are going to be elections next year in India, Modi or his stance this time around is not trust worthy because they feed on an anti Pakistani narrative.

Modi ji has always been a statesman par excellence. Won't be surprised if he gets the Nobel for Peace, spreading the message of peace and cooperation in one of the most volatile regions of the world.

How can Indians call Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism against India is beyond me, especially after the events leading up to and after the elections in Pakistan....

The headlines about IK in India and most of the western world is FAKE NEWS and Indians have been buying it for years if not decades.

My advice to them would be stop believing everything they’re reading.
