Who else cant wait to see this contest next week in the under 19 wc semi finals???

Pritvi Shaw looks like the next flag bearer of Indian Batting greatness, an absolutely class and blessed player! Similarly, Shaheen Shah Afridi boasts of the same class of the long lineage of great, legendary fast bowlers produced by Pakistan!

It could be an Akram V Tendulkar...Amir V Kohli type rivalry in the coming years!
 
Gill is more agressive but I dont think he is more talented that Shaw, the kid clearly is in the same bracket of the previous greats when it comes to class and elegance

Runs count more than 'elegance'. And even more in the future when they play, aesthetics will be a distant second.

Yes he's scored more runs in the tournament and probably around the circuit but if we talk about the long term prospects, you cannot rule out Shaw's credibility to become the next big thing
 
Gill will be picked by Rajhastan Royal, let see who will pick Shaw in upcoming IPL auction...

Or he could go the route of UnMukt Chand too.U19 and senior cricket are two entirely different ball games.
 
The Indian fast bowlers are better than your Shaheen and other bowlers. I hope your U19 team has some decent batsmen to make an interesting contest.
 
Shubman Gill is just too good.I have followed both of these players career and also played against Gill.Gill certainly is the better batsman than Shaw.Gill is kind of like Kohli(even follows him a lot) and puts value on his wicket, thus those astonishing stats.Prithvi on the other hand is like Rohit(not comparing), he gives you chance but scores very quickly and has played well in the Ranji Trophy.Both of them are fabulous players and clearly the two best batsman in this team or even the tournament.Abhishek Sharma isn't far behind too!!

Nagarkoti and Mavi are brilliant but I feel Shaheen is slightly better than them.Will see what happens on 30th.Don't think it will be a one sided contest.Although India do start as firm favourites!

Not much difference, the Ind guys are slightly more skilled whilst he is quicker and gets more bounce.

Shaheen shah is the most impressive fast bowler in the tournament .
He has the most international potential out of all . Personal opinion though.
 
I too believe that Shaheen Shah has the most potential out of all the bowlers at the World Cup. Nagarkoti and Navi are a bit too short I reckon

Afridi has more wickets so he is a wicket taking bowler in this tournament which is important
 
Nagarkoti in his interview said he idolises waqar younis and Sami.
India will hope that he is more waqar than sami though . Although physically he does resemble a young sami.

Height makes a big difference to perception. A 85mph tall bowler looks quicker than 88mph short because of the extra time it takes for the batsman to pick the length of the ball.

I know but unless they are in the Steyn/Marshall mould with skiddy bouncers etc. they won't have much of an international career . If Ishan porel increases his pace, he'd be more effective I think.

Not always the case but generally as Sami and Agarkar found to their cost,height does matter.

Thats a new concept for me. So no comments. But when the speed gun shows 90mph, then I think it is 90mph.
 
Speed at which the ball is released is not the same as the speed at which the batsman receives it. If you are hit the deck type bowler then the deck is absorbing alot more of the ball's speed, than a skiddy bowler.... look up momentum and angle of attack - it is simple physics.

Pakistan’s best hope (based on what I have seen on their batting so far) is to bowl first and restrict India to a total that is too meager to defend
 
So far Pakistan U19 doing is exactly what national team does, solely rely on bowling to win matches. That's what happen in CT, only reason we won, because all those scores were below 250, here they are winning because everything is below 200, even then they sweat a lot...That is unrealistic model, we saw what happened in NZ, as soon as scored crossed 270+, we starting loosing every match...When we are going to build batting culture :facepalm:

India has more wicket taking bowlers.

Atleast 4 Indian bowlers have take 5 or more wickets in this tournament. While only 2 Pakistani bowlers have done that.
 
Kamlesh is pacy but he is really short around 5 feet 6 or 7 inches.Don't see much of future for him in international cricket he can be popular in IPL though.That mavi is not that impressive he bowls at mid 130s and nothing special about and he is short too.Tall pacer ishan bowls is pure trundler bowls at 122ks mostly.As far as Pakistani pacers are concerned shaheen has got wickets in every match and has been most impressive pacer in this whole tournament

Porel was in 140s in match 1 and then injured his ankle and just came back in this match.

Afridi is most impressive? Really?

This thread is about Shaheen shah and Prithvi. Has any Indian bowler taken more wickets than Shaheen? Yes or No?

Its a matter of perception, there other things in play such as whether some bowlers lose a lot of pace and others lose less pace after pitching ( its a fact that everybody loses pace)

If Nagarkoti is as good as Shami and can bowl a consistent above 140k, he will still be a great asset to the country.

Shami is also short. Probably 5'8'ish. Nagarkoti is faster than Shami ever was.

Mavi is slightly slower than Nagarkoti. He bowls between 135-140k's. He is more skilled than Nagarkoti. But Nagarkoti is very skiddy.

Yet some Indian’s on a certain forum argue that Waqar was not fast lol.. @Rightatmfast knows about this...even though the batsmen that faced him can testify that he was rapid.
 
I had my doubts about Shaheen but he does look really, really good. One thing I noticed about Nagarkoti & co is that they strive really hard to generate pace..whereas Shaheen can clock 142 effortlessly. You can tell it is all natural. [MENTION=95477]Rightarmfast[/MENTION]

But good that Indian youngsters want to bowl fast.

I never said Shaheen is not good. I just said the Indian bowlers are quicker than their Pakistani counterparts. Which is true.

Tbh, I am not too sure when you say Shaheen is effortless and Indians are not. Cant vouch for Shaheens age, but the Indian bowlers are below 19 yrs of age. They will still get quicker than what they are now, if they stay injury free.

I am suggesting Mavi and Nagarkoti are 100% below 19. Which means with age, they will get quicker, if they stay injury free. Mind you, there are plenty more Indian bowlers in the domestic circuit clocking 145. Khaleel Ahmed, who played the last U19WC for India, was clocking 148 in yesterdays domestic match.
 
Its like comparing Rahul Dravid with Kohli. You would really pick. Kohli ofcourse. Though Rahul was great in tests.
 
All of this hype over unproven Players at bigger stage.

I really hope the likes of Nagarkoti and Mavi become real deals for India. For a country that has little to no history of world class fast bowlers, these 2 are like a breath of fresh air.

I hope Nagarkoti gets picked up by some IPL team. We will see how he will bowl to international class batsmen like AB, Kohli, Smith, Root, Kane etc.

Shaw might be too slow for T20's.
 
Gill is better batsman at the moment than Shaw. He can play short ball and pace bowling very well. Shaw seems to be a better player of spin.

Gill has the Kohli style when hitting those half pull shots. They race to the boundary.
 
Shaw reminded me a bit of Tendulkar especially his forward defensive shot.

Looks a solid batsman, perhaps though extra bounce could trouble him as his technique looks more suited to lower bounce tracks.

Replace those three with Amir, Hasan and Rumman and we will still lose most of the games against the top sides. In this era, batsmen win you Limited Overs games.

I think, opposite - in these era of batting friendly days, bowlers still has the biggest role to play. Otherwise, simply BD doesn't exist is cricket - batsmen are scoring runs, but it's the bowlers that's making difference at home. I think, equivalent of those 3 bowlers these days will take any team among to 3, simply because of the defensive quality of batsmen are so poor that, most batting line-up won't survive 50 overs. One thing will happen is that their (equivalents) economy will suffer, but you'll see teams all out for 234 in 44'3 overs ....

Coming to PAK team, I don't think batting is the biggest issue - most times, teams (players) are picked for wrong format; wrong combination and wrong strategy used. Besides, most of the players are playing for themselves and the seniors are manipulating the situation to show their importance - you should thank Ul Haq for that, rather than cursing the team. Fakhar, Hasan, Shadab are few guys, I have seen trying their best and already have won few critical games for PAK.

I would rephrase your comments this way - take MoHa, Malik, Azhar, Sarfraz (WK), to 1990s, PAK would have been 6th/7th in ranking out of 8 and a W/L of 1/5 against top 5/6 teams - because wood is wood and iron is iron in every generation.

Do you think Wasim, Waquar or Sohaib would take this nonsense of playing Azhar Ali as ODI opener, Sarfraz as WK and MoHa/Malik as batting backbone at 4/5?

Fact is kamlesh is no way 5.8 he is around 5.6 or 7 at best.About ishan I don't know what happened but he was bowling at 122ks which is way less than your claimed 140ks.
Shaheen has more wickets to show and if you have watched that QF he was troubling each batsman and commies were praising him too.

I agree. Nagar looks more impressive than Afridi. The good thing about Nagar is that he is a great athlete. An extremely fit cricketer. India has now got a good system unlike Pakistan so they will take good care of him. I have reservations regarding young cricketers esp fast bowlers exposed to IPL too soon

To be fair, Afridi has put up the best numbers to go along with the hype.

Nagarkoti looks like a gem too.
 
Nagarkoti is going to be a T20 and ODI superstar. He's pacy, good hitter and is absolutely electric on the field. He's also full of energy.
