Professionally taken pictures for social media?

What do y'all think about the trend of millennials getting their pics professionally taken for the gram and facebook? I've never gotten any pics taken by pros and neither did I ever jump on the selfie bandwagon, I personally don't see the point on wasting money on it but might try it out sometime just for the experience
