PSL 11 (2026): Speed Watch

Ali Raza is really developing. Got hit today but still tried some slower balls and Yorker. Needs a really good captain and coach. At the moment international batsmen are learning to upper cut his bouncers.
His pace is definitely increasing after every game but his skill set is no where near even a good domestic bowler , currently he is just a cannon fodder for even for PSL level batsmen let alone international batters.

Even if he bowls at 155k but gun barrel straight any good batter will often find a way to hit him for a six more often than not.

I was expecting him to hit 150k this PSL and he almost did it.

Great to see Razaullah also near 150k and he can bat too at Faheem Ashraf level.
He eventually broke the 150k barrier as expected and hopefully next season we will see him getting some
Movement off the pitch until then he should not play for national team and lose his conference and pace after getting thumping from International batters.

What about that Karachi short height Pathan bowler who clocked 150k last season and was the fastest PSL bowler? He seems to replaced by Khalil Ahmed for whatever reason and they both are very similar in style and pace.

I find it very strange that none of the teams picked him , may be he is injured.

Ngl, Rana looked fast even if his deliveries were low 140s. There are some bowlers in the list who look slow even if the speed gun shows 148kph. Just an observation & nothing solid to back it up with but it just felt that way.

Rana consistently gets more bounce compared to Ali raza mainly because of a higher release point and better length control

That’s like Akhtar and Lee to some degree and Akhtar/sami to a much higher degree. Even when they bowled at similar pace Akhtar looked quicker and more menacing

It’s off the wicket pace which matters alot compare to speed gun value , some bowlers loose about 20k of their pace in the air till the ball reaches the pitch and some just loose 10k and ball appear at the batsmen 10k quicker which is too much of a difference even if the speed gun show same value for both Bowlers , one bowler whose ball reaches the batsmen 10k quicker is actually alot to deal with for a batter , it’s like facing a 130k vs 140k delivery and this is the reason Rana low 140k deliveries looked way faster.

Ali Raza is also very quick off the pitch for his good length and short of good length deliveries but I think his bouncers lack a bit venom which you expect from late 140k deliveries.

Also he is not intelligent and doesn’t out think the batter as well so if a batter is expecting a bouncer just outside off stump then Ali Raza actually bowls it making way easier for a batsman to anticipate a shot.

during England tour of Pak they were showing both the release speed and the after pitch speed and the fastest Naseem and Dahani bowled was 147k with their release speed being 133k(Naseem) and 128k ( Dahani) where as Markwood bowled a 153k delivery but his release speed was 142k and made our batters dance around in that tour.

There was also a guy from England whose fastest delivery was 142k but his release speed were 134k and he too looked quicker even though his released speed were in late 130ks to early 140ks.

The problem with Ali Raza is not that he is losing more pace in the air and slower off the pitch compare to Rana but the real problem is that he only bowls 3 lengths and is gun barrel straight and any decent batter predicts him successfully most of the time where he is going to bowl his next delivery practically makes him cannon fodder at the moment. He definitely needs a cunning and intelligent mentor like M.Amir who can teach him how to setup a batter and ofcourse he needs to learn how to move the ball and add reliable multiple slower bowls to his armory. Even Ubaid is very intelligent compare to Ali.
