PSL 2018 Match 12: Islamabad United defeat Lahore Qalandars in Super Over after another LQ collapse

Only God knows the reason behind playing Talat so low down the order. Islamabad basically batsmen all the way to number 10 today

Ball is turning square today hence spinners opening for both teams.

Samit Patel was demon because the Akmal made him look like one. Fakhar his other victim was actually not out but LQ didn't review.

Thanks, wow. PSL3 batting standards has been really poor though this Agha Salman is looking assured against spin.

Shadab is bowling too fast

Been disappointing with the ball this psl. I’m not overalls concerned though, think this is small slump rather than anything else

Am pretty sure Agha resides in the UK, does he play club cricket there as well?

Lol Mamoon is the most miserable guy in the world right now :)) ofcourse he's pessimistic and a negative Nancy at best of time but it's actually kinda worrying. Hope everything is well.

I'm not much of a fan of PSL or t20 anyway but watching today since it's decent time pass. Quality of cricket isn't great but it is fairly exciting. In terms of quality it most likely doesn't compare to IPL but I don't care because the reason for watching is excitement and Pakistani cricketers.

It's a t20 league for entertainment. If it's not entertaining for you then surely one should do sth else since there isn't any emotion involved. lol at 20 long posts about it

He is pessimistic at the moment but I hope he will come good later on. These ups and downs are a part of life, especially at this age.

But but Pakistan has no batting talent.

If you keep playing Shehzad, Umar etc then that’s what it looks like :)

Although seeing how Shadab has been going so far, it is +2 (-1), still need another talent.

This lady knows trolling - "Misbah zaisa player ..."

Any way, what's the age & height of the new guy?

Can you guys imagine the likes of Umar, Shehzad and Shoaib Maqsood playing the kind of knock that Agha is playing. Risk free cricket most of the time.

Akmal would have been dancing down the pitch the whole time and eventually getting stumped like two days ago.

Fame has got to Shadab's head and he has stopped working hard

He looks worse this year

the pressure was immense though. This knock has certainly brought him into discussions.

you should be ashamed of supporting Umar Akmal over Hussain Talat and Agha Salman

Didn’t know about the niggles. Why are they continuing to play him if that is the case?
You don't rate Agha but he looks okay to me here.
I personally don't think he's good enough for Top 4 technically and and not good enough hitter from 6-8, but credit to him he's batting well here.

What is Dean Jones doing at the boundary. The guy takes this stuff way too seriously.

Dunno, guess they don't think Gohar is ready.

Deano said he has niggles and is not 100% + has a few technical issues which Ajmal is working on....

He’s playing a good knock under pressure, but doesn’t look like someone that makes you get out of your seat. Would take him ahead of Nawaz and Imad as spinning all-rounders.

Haven't seen much of Agha Salman before this tournament but he looks decent. Good hitter and pretty good runner between wickets. Also decent bowler.

To be honest I'm in agreement with Mamoon on this. I haven't caught much of PSL3 because I've been busy but I'd have made time if the batting standards and quality of cricket was a lot better.

Whenever I check the score, I see a team going 5-6 RPO after 10 overs and already 3 or 4 wickets down. UAE pitches don't encourage fluent strokeplay as been said many times but it is worrying for a tournament that claims to be competing with IPL, BBL etc that hasn't produced a single total of 180+ yet.

Also, the talent roster is disappointing due to a lack of youngsters and explosive Pakistani batsmen; tried and tested Pakistani domestic names we've seen thousands of times before; and abundance of C grade foreign T20 journeymen.

Yet to pick up a wicket... picked up one in last match but was overturned unlike his deliveries.

I presume you’ve been watching him at training sessions and have come to the conclusion he doesn’t work hard.

Agha Salman has been extremely impressive. May very well be the find of the tournament. People talked a lot about his bowling but he looked pretty ordinary ordinary as a bowler. His batting though may make him the find of the tournament.

Salman is love.... We may have found the Hafeez/Malik replacements in Salman and Talat. Love you PSL.

Moment of silence for haters.

Agha Salman only averages in the low 30s in domestic cricket. Hope this isnt a flukey innings and that he bats well all this tourny.

I would rather have a 30 avg batsman in domestic making a difference in the big league rather than these 60+ TTF batsmen failing against decent bowling as usual. Still early days for Agha though.

I'm not disagreeing with the premise. It's obvious.

But 10-15 long posts on this is a bit too much. It's just miserable and certainly something else seems to be at play. As I said hope everything's wel

Macca realizes its either him or defeat that is why doing tuk tuk today lol... today found good partner in Salman

Omg PP “experts” need to chill out about Shadab. The guy has proven himself on the big stage to be one of the most exciting emerging all rounders in world cricket and every player goes through highs and lows.

Salman is love.... We may have found the Hafeez/Malik replacements in Salman and Talat. Love you PSL.

Don't always think about silencing the haters. If one of Salman/Talat fail too then the "haters" could also talk a similar talk.

Yea lol that's why he sent in Ramdin ahead of Akhtar and Narine. He knows that LQ can collapse and be all out within 40 runs easily.

I presume you’ve been watching him at training sessions and have come to the conclusion he doesn’t work hard.

I don't watch him train, but he doesn't seem to have the same zip or accuracy like last year and I can only speculate he hasn't been working as hard as before

It is pretty normal for a youngster to lose his way, especially the way he has started and someone needs to reign him back in

PSL never claimed or strived to be the pinnacle of the sport so idk why guys like him keep harping about "quality"... it is interesting and exciting and that is what it set out to be. It is also helping us produce talent like Talat and Salman

This is good for Shadab actually - since his emergence, kid probably has played 2 First Class Games and around 200 T20. This'll define which way he goes - unless he learns his game from bowling 25-35 overs's spells, he will end-up in Mansoor Amzad's route. Amzad probably won 2 U19 WCs and as good a young leggi I had seen, sadly his youth passed when Ul Haq was in charge .......then it went to T20s.

I mentioned religion because you were very on the fence and defensive before and I see that you seem to have outgrown that. Knowledge and not staying in Pakistan may have accelerated the process.

I do however think that you are exaggerating the Pakistan shaming (You are right mostly but I think this is becoming your raison d'être of late) but if you do actually go back after your internship (Or are you just in your MMBS stage?, I opted out after the 4th year when we actually had to use cadavers), I seem to have lost my chain of thought atm but you could have a more positive outlook as you will be going back to improve the situation back there.

Whether you do or not is up to you and I am in no position to judge but it's better if you do decide to go back to be ready for all these setbacks and have the resolve to actually try to make a change.

I do not recalling being defensive about religion, and I would say that I am still on the fence. ManFan calls it confusion, but I think I am somewhat conflicted. However, accepting the fact that the only reason I am a Muslim is because I was born in a Muslim family has helped med quite a bit.

I no longer believe in debating over religion and other factors that were forced on me, and because of my preexisting disposition and my confirmation bias, I would always end up going back to Islam if I decide to follow my own path and look at religions (and atheism) with an open mind.

As Abdullah719 said he’s working with Saeed Ajmal on a few technical issues and also has a couple of niggles. Best we don’t jump to such extreme conclusions.

looool look at Lahore lower order. then you wonder why they collapse. genius Aqib.

PSL's success and contribution is evident by the fact that Pakistan won the Champions Trophy 2017!

Three of the major players in the succes ie Shadab, Fakhar and Hasan most likely would not have been part of the team if not for PSL

So there you go!

"fame has gotten to Shadab"

While the guy is giving his all in the field and had some brilliant moments in this PSL.

I was not intending to have a debate on how terrible the PSL is. I made one post and the discussion spiraled. However, I have said all that I have to say. If people think this is great, good for them. I would make sure that I stay away from PSL related threads for the time being.

Let the people enjoy what they want to enjoy.

Yeah but... that’s a fluke.

Mamoon doesn’t accept that as an achievement.

It’s only a terrible league because there are no Indian players.

which team are you supporting this year bhai?

As Abdullah719 said he’s working with Saeed Ajmal on a few technical issues and also has a couple of niggles. Best we don’t jump to such extreme conclusions.

It's not extreme, it is concluded from what I've seen from him this year and last

You can only get worse, if you haven't been working as hard

But niggles would also explain his lack of bowling impact this year, but then he shouldn't be playing and rest to full fitness

Give the ball to that Dumba, Patel.

IU can still come back into this game, just need another wicket to expose the tail.

It’s only a terrible league because there are no Indian players.

It is a terrible league because it does not have contemporary world class players and the pitches are woeful. India is the best team in the world at the moment, but they are not the only team with top players.
