PSL 2018 Match 9: Bowlers, Kevin Pietersen help Quetta to comfortable six-wicket win over Islamabad

These aren’t wickets for anyone

if people only want to watch batsmen dominating and no chance for bowlers then there are multiple T20 leagues in the world for that purpose like IPL;
but if you want to watch a healthy competition between batsmen and bowlers then PSL is the standard

Definition of a garbage player

these are tough wickets real wickets where bat and ball have a good competition; not roads where its all bat like the ones in recent India South Africa series.

This is one of the biggest misconception in cricket - "play on difficult wicket, game will be balanced & batsmen will improve". This wicket is absolute rubbish - dead slow & dying. Didn't see, but I don't think Ronchi batted well actually, he just got the new ball on this mud bed when it was coming on to bat & he could get under it - put him at 6 after 12th over, he'll do worse than Misbah.

pakistani players will carry garbage quality willow. These poor guys have no clue what willow to use

So fielding wise PSL is officially best league in the world with 90% catch success rate

Sahibzada should have played for Quetta as he would have gotten more chances and would also have been with his domestic partner Shafiq both of whom complimented each other really well last year in the domestic circuit.

Asad would have opened with Watto and he would still have been on the bench

Sounds like not a single Pakistani fan saw Md Sami clock 146.7! Incredible to be hitting those speeds at that age. Wont do much harm to have Sami in their national side.

He will get is chabces with IU which is a pretty good franchise in grooming youngsters. There are still quite a lot of matches to go

Saw it but other than T20s Sami has no future

Out of our upcoming brigade atleast Umer is getting oppurtunities to bat in the top order

Remember the same dismissal of Raina in T20 world cup against Sami in 2016

Is preparing a T20 style pitch that hard in the UAE or its just unprofessionalism from PCB? I really hate Haroon Rashid. I'm sure it was his task to make sure we get better pitches as he is the man in charge of domestic cricket.

I don't think it's that difficult. Dubai Curator is a pro from Mohali, Mohan Singh - guy made wickets for 2006 Champions Trophy which in 5 days produced 2 games with 550+ scores, in between PAK got screwed against SAF seemers on same wicket - that was naughty by BCCI, but backed by professional competence.

Sharjah Curator is a aged PAK guy, in charge for almost half a century now:( I heard him once - hardy I have seen incompetent & clueless people talking so confidently, boldly and taking pride of own sh!tty job; almost like hearing Basit Ali.

I don't think PCB/PAK has internal resources for building quality wicket to be honest - it's not rocket science, even in youtube you might find "how to make sporting wicket ...". Problem is attitude to learn and accept that what I am doing or delivering isn't working. 10 years back Intekhab said that PAK is going to crash SRL with pace & bouncy track (in that ill fated series) - then he came to tell that wickets were very good for fast bowling, but pacers didn't bowl well ..... just one example.

If PCB wants to improve wickets, they should ask ICC for technical assistance - if not on permanent basis, at least on short terms couple of Pro groundsmen from UK, AUS or SAF can come to NCA and train few groundsmen - but for that, first you have to go BCB route - hire 10-12, U35 people with basic education on the subject (Diploma in civil engineering or soil science) on long term basis and train them under Pros. to prepare wicket. Making cricket wicket isn't genetics that you are born with the knowledge, it's a science - one can learn.

If you seen that boundary just got of his bowling will give you an idea why he don't make it to Pak national team. The guy bowls atleast 3 boundary balls and over. What a waste of talent one of the most beautiful fluid bowling actions you will ever see. Such a shame he didn't bother correcting his line and lengths another wasted talent only has his own dumbness to blame though.

QG's tactics is good, trying to score as much as possible when the ball is new. It's only in UAE that you can see batsmen are itching to face the new ball rather than the old one.

I don't understand what Quetta, and Pakistan as well, see in Asad Shafiq in t20s...

Shafiq again shows why he is not a limited overs batsman. In fact he's not even good enough for Test Cricket.

Pakistans Ajit Agarkar!

until they don't remove Haroon Rashid I have no hope. This leech has produced some of the worst batting pitches I have ever seen and he is still attached to the PCB. Najam Sethi no matter how much hard work he does if he has people like him in the team his all hardwork will go in vain. You won't believe some of the pitches we saw in the domestic cricket in the last two years and this guy was in charge. T20 cricket needs supporting pitch to be entertaining otherwise no one bother watching 130 odd sub par scores ever game.

All of Wilkins comparisons going to waste so far. Too bad he has either Rameez or Bazid at the helm.

Hasan123 was all praise for this pathetic Misbah and how he encourages youngsters. Well as soon as captain saviour is back, oldies Asif Ali and Iftikhar are left untouched but youngster Farhan is dropped after one match.

Can't wait to see the back of this garbage cricketer.

Farhan is an opener and our 2 openers are in form . If Asif Ali was opening I would have been annoyed.

What about Sarfraz? Why isn't he playing Saud Shakeel? Seems as though he would rather play his friend Asad Shafiq. Don't see you dare question him.

Ball not coming onto the bat is definitely not healthy standard. Swing, spin, bounce, seam all would be great. But ball just holding back? And since when is T20 supposed to be some healthy standards and not entertainment?

Ignoring both of your biases, in the end Pakistan loses.

This was Ronchi's first decent knock. Walton has not even made 50 runs combined in 3 games.

Asif Ali promoted to #3 despite normally being at #5.

Talat demoted from #3 where he did well last season. Still managed a match-winning knock at #5 in the last match, demoted again to #6.

At least Islamabad is playing some youngsters . Who are QG playing?

At least I can admit Misbah doesn't always favour younger players which i don't agree with and have said many times. Whereas he won't see a single fault in Sarfraz.

Must say Moin & Sarfraz has done their homework for PSL draft perfectly - for 3rd year, they are going to out punch their weight.

What they have done is picked batsmen from foreigners & whatever local bowlers left within their budget. And they have picked cheap local spinners. What KP, Watson, doing at this age in PSL actually indicates the domestic batting resources, add to that Rossouw, Roy, Hastings, Mahmud (last 2 years I believe Right was there), their scouting has been spot on with half the budget of KK or LQ.
