Does anyone know what are the squads of the games in Pakistan. Quetta no doubt will have problems.

I don't know how they will replace the foreign players who will not tour.A draft like the one held before the final last year?

If so, then these players should be banned from PSL. If you spree money, there is no shortage of players. In fact, QG can easily fly 5/6 Lankans players tomorrow morning and they will play in PAK. Mendis, Perera, Tisara, Chandimal, Dhana, Shanka .... are quite good T20 players. Next year WC qualifier won't be there - some of the best T20 players from WI, AFG will be available as well.

Is it confirmed that Hales is out?IIRC Hales was supposed to have a meeting with the IU team management.

Full Strength Peshawar Zalmi Squad reaching Pakistan

Its all over the social media and confirmed by PZ owner javed afridi. Well done, PZ.

My sources tell me that the Pesahawar Zalmi overseas players were initially refusing to go to Pakistan and they only changed their minds after the fixtures were finalised today.

One player, speaking anonymously, may or may not have said "I know the situation in Pakistan is dangerous and it's extremely risky but no matter how much I love my family and value my own life, I cannot pass up any opportunity to share the same pitch as the Rahat"

Legend has it, if a batsman can hit Rahat for a boundary at his home ground (which is near impossible), that batsman is granted eternal life and three wishes.

So ofcourse Zalmi players will go to Pakistan.

Who is actually coming and who is not?

All I have is hearsay. Mills,Ingram , ronchi and jp said yes confirmed and kp said no. Everything else is a rumour

Mods can we have a thread

No sympathy for quetta at all if their foreign players dont go. They should have learned from last year

Mods can we have a thread

That's the purpose of this thread.

Anyway, KK's foreign contingent except Morgan will do it seems.

From IU, Ronchi and Duminy said yes. Not sure about Hales, Billings, Finn and Patel - Reports suggesting they won't go.

From QG, KP said no while Watson said he is considering and it depends on his family (sounds like a no). Not sure about Rossouw, Roy, Hastings, Laughlin, etc. QG seem to be the ones struggling the most.

PZ's foreign guys will go.

No sympathy for Quetta, but I think they knew they would be in this position - again! And to be fair, it is probably a better positon than they would have been in had they simply picked the foreign players they are now about to pick (from the new draft) from the outset.

Good thing for Quetta is Mahmudullah Riad who is in form can easily play the play offs.

On the other hand Tamim is likely to return to PZ side and he too is in pretty good form.

They need to rope in some lankans for the finals and reward them with proper contracts. Guys like kusal mendis and danushka are also better players than roy and rossow... just aren’t as attractive on paper.

Laughlin said no too from a tweet I read by QG and Roy has said no.

Hearing samit will go for Iu but not sure if that’s just an assumption.

Kings have announced everyone is going as have Zalmi.

Karachi Kings have announced that the following foreign players are ready to travel to Pakistan to take part in the play-off (if needed) and the final in Karachi:

Joe Denly Tymal Mills Colin Ingram Ravi Bopara Lendl Simmons David Wiese

I asked Quetta which of their foreign players are travelling to Pakistan but they are unwilling to disclose the names.

However I have heard that Thisara Perera will join up.

Chalo nice to hear that at least aik do regular squad ke banday toh aa rahay hain.

Nottinghamshire duo Riki Wessels and Samit Patel are understood to be willing to play in the finals of the Pakistan Super League.
A number of high profile players, including Alex Hales, look set to refuse to play in the latter stages of the tournament in Pakistan due to security concerns.

However, Wessels and Patel are not among them.

Like Hales, all-rounder Patel is playing for Islamabad United, who have qualified for the play-off round after a successful group campaign in the United Arab Emirates.

Batsman Wessels is with Peshawar Zalmi, who have also made it through.

The final games of the tournament will take place in Lahore and Karachi next week.

Where Quetta have gone wrong is that they should have got contracts signed by their foreign players regarding going to Pakistan.

Those that refused to sign, don't pick them.

Yes but players like KP are big names and will boost a team

Were the Multan overseas players willing to play in Pakistan?

If so then Multan should get a shot in the play off instead of Quetta who were also terribly let down last year in the finals and again the same thing will be repeated making it a joke for the 2nd time running.

I am sure Imran Tahir and even Sanga won't be having much 2nd thoughts of coming to Pakistan then that leaves Pollard who again could be an issue of not wanting to come to Pakistan.

Or another thing could be, why not get Tahir and Sanga to play for Quetta instead of hiring disastrous players like Johnson Charles etc;

PCB are really awful planners and just have tons and tons of money to throw around even at such players.

Sanga was part of the team that got attacked in 2009. he might be a little hesitant to come.

Also Charles isnt a "disastrous" players, he is a T20 specialist who played a big role in WI winning the World T20

The Multan owner said they were all willing to go but later there were some reports that Sanga was undecided on it. Seems like the others were ready, though.

On the bright side... maybe we might see someone like Saud Shakeel have a go.... but probably not.

Quetta Gladiators' owner unhappy over foreign players refusal to visit Pakistan

he owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Franchise Quetta Gladiators has expressed displeasure as most of his franchise’s foreign players have refused to travel to Pakistan to take part in the playoffs, DawnNewsTv reported.

The owner of two-time losing finalists Quetta Gladiators, Nadeem Omer, said: “It happens every time, we cannot convince foreign players to travel to Pakistan.”

He asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include only those foreign players in future drafts who are willing to travel to Pakistan.

“Shane Watson had earlier committed that he will travel to Pakistan, but [he] backed off at last minute,” Omer said.

“If PCB fails to resolve this issue, the franchise owners will lose the charm,” he said.

The Quetta Gladiators owner said Raiwind blast proved to be a major setback, as foreign players got worried after it.

Meanwhile, the local players of Quetta Gladiators returned to Pakistan on Saturday. They will face Peshawar Zalmi in playoff match which will be played in Lahore.

Why does it only happen with Quetta? I feel either their management or owners are not convincing or strong enough to strike a deal with their foreign players. Last time around, Tymal Mills also backed out of the final, yet this year he has decided to come from Karachi Kings.

Think they could have dealt with their players better.
Ingram, Mills, Simmons, Ronchi, Duminy, Smith, Dawson, Jordan, Shakib. They are well known names in franchise cricket.

Not much but come on, he's not exactly a small name is he. You can't predict the future, hard to know if a player will do well.

Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis are 10 times bigger did they play?

KP is way past it and for some time...

Yup. They need to ask the other teams how they manage to convince their players.

I spoke with someone who is close to QG owner Nadeem Omer and he said that Nadeem is old-school in that someone's word is enough for him. He seems to be a very nice guy and soft-hearted which means that some players take advantage of this as nothing is confirmed in writing.

However they are looking to change this next season.

According to this report, Smith won't visit Pakistan and Shakib will replace him in the PZ squad.

What will have things in writing or contract do? You can't force someone at gunpoint to come to another country. Shane Watson may have wanted to come but his wife and parents might have forced his hand. This is the responsibility of the Franchise owners, the PCB has no role here beyond a certain point. Javed Afridi has a solid equation with the foreign players in his team and has played a huge role in getting them to tour Pakistan.

Quetta Gladiators need to look at themselves to be honest for failing to convince the likes of Pietersen, Watson. Did they try to convince the family members of KP and Watson?

Contracts are binding my friend.

Contracts are binding my friend.

Then no player would sign a contract. Say they have full intentions on visiting when they sign the contract, but then there is oh I don't know, a bomb blast in Raiwand days before the tournament and they change their mind?

Yes, Kamran Akmal hit Rahat Ali for a 4 and used all the 3 wishes to ask for 3 chances as an opener :kakmal:

Good Replacement Players for PSL

So since there are spots open, especially for Quetta, they should have got Kusal perrera bc he is in hot form. Also they should take Mukhtar ahmed bc Pakistan tracks are all flat and he is the best hack in pakistan. Which players do you think are good additions and will tour?

Is Hales coming? I know Billings opted out as he posted on Twitter (long winter lol), but Hales hasn't said anything.

Billings is captain for Kent County Club and they have a friendly match on 22nd March. Although it seems like a cop out excuse to me.

Quetta jolted as Laughlin, Watson pull out of Pakistan leg

DUBAI: Quetta Gladiators were jolted by further pull-outs on Sunday when the franchise officially announced their leading run-getter in the 2018 HBL Pakistan Super League, Shane Watson, and paceman Ben Laughlin will not be travelling to Pakistan for the playoffs.

Watson, the 36-year-old Australian all-rounder, and Laughlin joined former England captain Kevin Pietersen and the current England limited-overs opener Jason Roy who had earlier pulled out of the Pakistan leg.

Quetta will surely miss these stars when it faces defending champions Peshawar Zalmi in Lahore in Tuesday’s first eliminator in Lahore.

Watson is the third-highest scorer in PSL III with 319 runs in the 10 league-round matches while left-armer Laughlin bagged three wickets in as many games.

During one of the media conferences last week, Watson indicated his reluctance over touring Pakistan when he said: “I have to sit down with my family to be able to really work through what the right decision is for them and me. It is just not my decision. It is my mum’s and dad’s and wife’s as well. We will all sit down to discuss the options.”

Surprisingly, Watson also had kind words to say for Pakistan during the same briefing: “The best part of Pakistani culture is that they are wonderful people and love their cricket as much as I do. It is great to visit places where people share the same love for the sport.”

The Australian all-rounder also had sympathised with the fans watching the PSL action on TV. “I just cannot imagine how tough it would be, growing up, not being able to watch their idols play cricket in front of them.”

Roy, the 27-year-old South African-born right-hander, was a late arrival for the third edition from England’s ongoing tour of New Zealand and played in Quetta’s last two league-round fixtures in Sharjah earlier this week and scored 53 runs.

Quetta, who faced a major exodus during last year’s final in Lahore when all their first-choice overseas players refused to play in the Punjab metropolis, will however have the services of South African left-hander Rilee Rossouw who has agreed to participate in Tuesday’s encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium after receiving a briefing from Reg Dickason, the independent security consultant whom the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had engaged to oversee security-related arrangements in Lahore and Karachi.

Australia’s Chris Green, who came into the squad as a replacement for Afghanistan spinning wizard Rashid Khan — who is currently on national duty in the ICC World cup qualifying event in Zimbabwe — has given his availability to the team management although the 24-year-old, who was born in Durban, has yet to play a game in the PSL.

Quetta have signed up Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera, who was granted special permission to play for Sarfraz Ahmed-led side after being originally picked by Multan Sultans but did not play a single match for the newest franchise, as well as West Indies opener Johnson Charles and Tom-Kohler Cadmore, the 23-year-old right-handed batsman who plays for English county team Yorkshire.

Reacting to the development, Quetta franchise owner Nadeem Omar expressed his disappointment at Watson’s abrupt exit. “Shane Watson had earlier committed that he will travel to Pakistan [for the later stages of the PSL] but he backed out at the last minute,” he lamented

On the other hand, Peshawar will be at full-strength for the Quetta clash after their franchise owner Javed Afridi confirmed that all their foreign players barring Dwayne Smith would travel to Pakistan.

“As was the case last year, this year too our overseas players will travel to Pakistan for the playoffs,” Afridi posted on his Twitter account.

Smith, the West Indies batsman, has pulled out due to family reasons.

Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, who were playing in the qualifier for the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at the time of filing this report on Sunday night, would have nearly all of their foreign players available for the knockout matches in Pakistan.

Karachi confirmed on Saturday that barring England ODI and T20 skipper Eoin Morgan who has opted out of Pakistan tour due to family reasons, all other players including England’s Ravi Bopara, Joe Denly, Tymal Mills, West Indian Lendl Simmons and South African duo of Colin Ingram and David Wiese have consented to play in Lahore and Karachi (if they make the final).

According to sources close to the Islamabad franchise, Luke Ronchi, J.P. Duminy and Samit Patel have all agreed to make the tour as well. Also likely to visit Pakistan are the West Indies players Chadwick Walton and Samuel Badree.Ronchi, in particular, left no one in doubt as regards to playing in Pakistan. “If you ask me, the answer is ‘yes, yes and yes. I am going over there to play in front of passionate cricket supporters. That is the way it should be and as a professional cricketer I enjoy playing and PSL is very competitive in that sense,” the wicket-keeper/batsman remarked.
