PCB Chairman announces HBL PSL 11 window

Chairman PCB Syed Mohsin Naqvi announced the official window for the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL). The HBL PSL 11 is scheduled to take place from 26 March to 3 May, 2026.

The confirmation of the HBL PSL 11 window marks a significant milestone as preparations intensify for the league’s next phase of expansion. The Pakistan Cricket Board will also host the New Teams Auction on 8 January, 2026 at the Islamabad Convention Centre, where the rights for two new HBL PSL franchises will be offered. The auction will be broadcasted, providing transparency and global visibility to prospective investors and cricket fans worldwide.

The HBL PSL continues to attract strong international interest, reflecting the league’s growing commercial strength, expanding global footprint and long-term growth potential. Recent engagements with global stakeholders have underlined confidence in the league’s business model and its positioning among the world’s leading T20 competitions.

Recognised for its high-quality cricket, competitive balance and role in developing elite international talent, the HBL PSL has firmly established itself as a premier global T20 league

Weather wise that ideal time to play, BTW what's the update on 2 x new franchise and Multan fiasco

This means the PCB is going to go for the group format with 4 teams in each group rather than every team playing each other twice home and away. That is not good news for the franchises from commercial sponsorship point of view.

I don’t think it’ll be just two closed groups.

That’s just 24 group games combined for both groups, lesser than the 30 group games you currently get for the 6 team group format. You can’t sell less sports content w/ more teams.

I think they’ll do it NFL style, where you play everybody in your group and then play teams in the other group once. That gives you a total of 40 group games combined, which the PCB should manage. Between 5 venues that’s 8 games each, which is doable.

Having a one group of 8 teams means 56 group games. I don’t think that Pakistan have the stadia to justify 56 games.

The likely format as per sources:

In the first phase, each team will play against every other team once

- In the second phase, teams will be divided into two groups

- Top 2 team from each group will qualify for the playoffs

- Each team will still play a minimum of 10 matches in the season

PCB remains to confirm this.

So its 8 teams
First round 28 matches
Second round 6 matches
2 sf plus 1 final

Total -- 37 matches in 39 days

So you’ve basically given 6 weeks to add 3 new teams/owners and redesign the entire squads

The draft for the new teams has taken too long.

Several high-profile international players including Daryl Mitchell, Dasun Shanaka, Tom Banton, Jordan Cox, Josh Inglis, Kyle Jamieson, Lungi Ngidi, and Adam Milne went unsold, giving PSL franchises names to keep a close eye on moving forward.

Auction isn't over.

Inglis and Cox have just been sold.

I’m not convinced with this new model

You could practically lose all your first round games,

Then win 2 out of 3 second round games and you could be in the play offs!

That’s rubbish!

Some interesting explanations coming from the PCB as to why they are not going for 60-70 games with every team playing each other in a home and away format given that there will now be 8 teams in the PSL and instead are sticking to 44 games maximum in a 5-6 week window i.e. the Pakistani advertising, broadcast market is very small and limited and broadcasters can only afford to pay a certain amount no matter how good the product is, broadcasters and advertisers have to allocate their budgets for other events during the year as well i.e. Ramzan, Eid, Pakistani Drama, Entertainment industry and they can only afford to spend a certain amount on cricket, hence why the PSL broadcast deal will not be dependent on the number of games held but it will be a overall package deal, whether PSL hosts 40 games or 70 games, the Pakistani broadcasters cannot afford to pay more than a certain amount hence why it is not cost effective for the PCB to increase the number of games, the PCB also fears that a longer tournament might lead to fatigue, saturation and lack of interest.

Oh bhai cancel this window ASAP

Total flop show awaits if this goes ahead!

Who is the highest paid cricketer in the PSL ?

March 26 is the date, and it's Dec 16 still no update regarding what will the two franchises be ? And the future of Multan.

A lot of fans and sports reporters have panicked given the IPL signings and the lack of quality available for the PSL. They are appealing to the PCB to shift the PSL window to September October as going head to head against the IPL is not a viable long term strategy.

There are some decent players there.

The problem is, many of the unknown players if there are picked, will use the PSL as a platform for the IPL.

Laurie Evans, sure. Tom Curran though is one of the most overrated franchise specialists going around
A few players that caught my eye in ILT20 and BBL;

Dan Lawrence (Clever batting in middle order)
Shayan Jahangir (Can't believe he is still under the radar. WK and a player who can open and bat in middle)
Khuzaima Tanveer (Decent fast bowler with swing and death bowling skill, plus an aggressive hitter)
Ben McDermott (Put on some muscle and has been clearing boundaries with ease)
Josh Philippe (Technically sound top order batter and WK that has been in good nick)

I like McDermott and Philippe. Not so impressed by Shayan Jahangir based on what I've seen of him for USA. Dan Lawrence is too inconsistent for my liking. He had the same issues while playing for England too eventhough he can play the odd blinder every now and then.

Foreign Players' Registration Opens for Historic Eight-Team HBL PSL 11

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is pleased to announce that the foreign player registration window for the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) is now officially open.

As the league enters a historic new era of expansion, cricketing talent from around the world is welcome to join for what promises to be the biggest season yet. With the addition of two new franchises, the league has expanded to eight teams, creating significantly more roster spots and earning opportunities for international players.

Agents and independent players are encouraged to complete their registration before 20 January, 2026 deadline to be included in the Player Pool.

The HBL PSL, which began in 2016, will feature eight teams competing in the 11th edition of the marquee event. Two new teams will be auctioned in Islamabad on 8 January, with the auction to be broadcast live.

Given some of the players which have been picked by IPL who were PSL mainstays, I won’t be surprised if it was some kind of instruction from IPL to select those players to keep them from PSL and make foreign contingent of PSL even worse. Can’t even think of a few players who would be good picks

Dan Lawrence, samit Patel, alex hales, Laurie Evans, junior dala, sipamla, baartman, linde, hardie, matt renshaw, Turner, wiese, Conway, Liton das, shakib etc

A ground breaking marquee signing this is where PSL struggles they've had to make effort to land an A lister even for 4/5 games

Who do you think would be the most expensive player? We saw some uncapped UAE players in ILT20 auction going for good money. I can expect same in Pakistan for someone like Shamyl Hussain who could even go for $100k if there was an auction but unfortunately he will be at best a silver or emerging pick

David Wiese Unavailable for PSL 11

Lahore, 2 February 2026: Lahore Qalandars confirm that their long-standing all-rounder David Wiese will not be participating in the Pakistan Super League Season 11 due to unforeseen circumstances and important family commitments.

David has shared a strong and enduring association with Lahore Qalandars over the past seven seasons and has expressed his intention to return in future editions of the PSL. During his time with the franchise, Wiese has played a vital role both on and off the field, contributing consistently with bat and ball while serving as an integral member of the team’s leadership group. His experience, composure in pressure situations, and mentorship of younger players have been key pillars in Lahore Qalandars’ journey and success.

Lahore Qalandars fully respect and welcome David Wiese’s decision to prioritise his family this season. As a key member of the leadership group and a valued part of the team over the past seven years, his presence has always been appreciated. The franchise looks forward to seeing David back in green and contributing to the Qalandars’ journey in the coming seasons.

Sameen Rana, Lahore Qalandars Owner, said: “David has been an integral part of the Lahore Qalandars family and our leadership group for many years. His contributions extend far beyond on-field performances. We fully respect his decision to prioritise his family at this time and look forward to welcoming him back in the coming seasons.”

David Wiese, while sharing his sentiments, said: “Being part of Lahore Qalandars has been more than just cricket—it’s been a family. The brotherhood within the team, the positive and supportive environment, and the passion everyone brings every day make this franchise truly special. Being called a Murshad by the team and fans is something I will always cherish. The love and respect I’ve received over the years from everyone associated with Lahore Qalandars is immense, and it’s humbling to know that my guidance and presence, both on and off the field, have made a difference. I’m proud to have been part of a group that values teamwork, growth, and the spirit of the game, and I look forward to returning and contributing to the team’s journey in the seasons ahead.”

Is it only me or all the big overseas players who are not playing in the IPL are rejecting PSL offer citing family reasons?

Wait and watch , a one line statement from BCCI can end the PSL

" a player who are playing in PSL is not allowed to Play in the IPL for next 5 year's "

This statement from BCCI is enough to end the PSL.

Talk about power.

PSL is now close to 40 days. That's a good chunk of time. Has it been this way or just slowly adding more days to the season?

I am sure it will be longer next year with the two new teams.

Lahore, 3 February 2026: Lahore Qalandars, the most successful franchises in the Pakistan Super League, have announced the retention of four key players for the upcoming 11th edition of the tournament, ahead of the PSL auction.

Lahore Qalandars have retained captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, premier batter Abdullah Shafique, dynamic all-rounder Sikandar Raza, and emerging talent Mohammad Naeem. The decision ensures continuity and reinforces the core of the squad as the franchise prepares for the next phase of team building.

“We are delighted to retain these players, but this has been the hardest decision we have faced as a franchise,” said Sameen Rana, owner of Lahore Qalandars. “Some of the players we have had to leave out have been our core for years. They helped shape the identity of Lahore Qalandars and were central to our journey and success. Unfortunately, the rules meant we could only pick four. It came down to that, and these are the four we had to choose, even though it was an extremely painful call.”

The retained players are expected to play a central role in the team’s plans and on-field performances as Lahore Qalandars aim to build a competitive squad at the auction.

With a strong core in place, the defending champions are gearing up to make a powerful statement in PSL 11 as they set their sights on continuing their winning legacy.

Idk and i m not answerable about any poster but this money thing is all relative and acc to market. It never ever is representative of the quality of cricket or any other sport.
Jake Paul can never ever be equivalent to legendary boxers even if he is earning millions or billions of dollars.

Decent List. These are about 60 players. All teams already have 1 DS player. If they each pick 6 more, that will total 48 players more.

There are other players like Willey, Jordan, Turner, Shanaka, etc. But I don't rate them for their high base price.

Bevon Jacobs has surprisingly set his base price at 60 lacs. If this is correct then I expect a bid war for him in the Auction.

I hope Pakistan can host a successful PSL tournament. But the bigger picture cannot be ignored. Pakistan is not safe for hosting any form of Sporting events when there's bombs and lunatics running around killing innocent people.

Better alternative will be UAE or even Saudi whom Pakistan has favorable relations with.

Any team that picks up Sheikh Mahadi will be a smart move. Mahadi is a far-better t20 player and bowler than Miraz. IMO Underrated off spinner and can hit quick runs too, led his bpl team to the final having playing excellent cameos himself to get them there.

PSL cannot be moved out as PCB is entirely banking on the success of PSL this season to maintain relevance in the world of cricket. Really hope nothing tragic happens & it can be executed properly.

PSL will probably be limited to a few cities only and any plan of expansion to Peshawar, etc. is out of the window. Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, & possibly one more center in Faisalabad.

The renovation had not started in NSK last I checked but the plan was to start the renovation in February so I don't see any games in Karachi happening. If they have delayed the renovation, that's another thing.

Lahore, 25 February 2026:

The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced the completion of a successful bidding process of HBL Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL) Brand Partnership rights for a four-year cycle (2026-2029), starting from HBL PSL 11.

The Brand Partnership includes six category rights along with one umpire branding right.

Prior to the opening of the financial bid, the PCB had announced the reserve price for the rights in line with its transparent and robust bidding process. Trans Group FZE exceeded the reserve price, securing the Brand Partnership rights.

The record deal reflects a 1,226 per cent increase in brand partnership value compared to the inaugural edition of the HBL PSL which commenced in 2016.

Rao Omar Hashim, Group Director Trans Group FZE:

“TransGroup FZE is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Cricket Board as we enter a New Era of the HBL Pakistan Super League through the Category Sponsorship rights for 2026–2029. “We are grateful to Trans Group for stepping up in the New Era, shattering past records and standing firmly by the HBL PSL for a decade. We all are eagerly awaiting commencement of the next edition to begin across the country with eight teams participating in the league for the first time across two new venues.”

PSL franchises will have to be careful in picking bowlers, especially Muzarabani for Fizz?. I am dead sure at least 4 bowlers will be picked by IPL as some franchises have injuries to their key bowlers who have still not got fit
