Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja has paid a glowing tribute to the Pakistan cricket fans when he credited them for the phenomenal success of HBL Pakistan Super League 7, which culminated on Sunday with Lahore Qalandars winning their maiden title at the Gaddafi Stadium.

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja: “There is no doubt that the HBL Pakistan Super League 7 has been a phenomenal success and this is largely due to the fact that we had amazing crowds, both in Karachi and Lahore. In my professional career, I have never seen such charged up, overwhelming, enthusiastic, lively and supportive crowds, particularly in Lahore.

“On behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Board, I thank all the fans who crossed the turnstiles to not only play their significant part in the success of HBL PSL 7, but through our high-definition production showcased Pakistan as a cricket passionate country.

“I would like to thank our sponsors, players, franchises, the medical team, law enforcing agencies, local and provisional administrations, commentators and crew members, and ground staff for their untiring efforts, as well as millions watching on television all around the world who made this HBL PSL a memorable spectacle.

“HBL PSL 7 profits jumped to 71 percent, the most in its history, with each franchise earning around PKR900million, again the most in HBL PSL’s history, and all before the first ball was even bowled.

“For next year, we aspire to take this league to the homes of all franchises and broaden its fan-reach.”

PKR900million comes around to be 5 million USD approx..
This is too less. The UAE league is promising to have similar salary for 1 player and it is in January. If it takes off, PSL has to really up its game.

The franchises profits also naturally went up when the PCB agreed to compromise big time by giving up 95% of the central pool.

That is not sustainable in the long run. The franchises in the end have to stand up on their feet independent of the PCB. The success of the league is dependent on getting a super broad cast and title sponsorship deal going fwd.

Well the UAE league will have Indians and Pakistanis both so it already becomes a greater league in terms of quality than the IPL. The IPL will then have to up its game. Win win situation for Pakistan as they can reschedule PSL later as their players have now finally got the credibility they deserve having participated in a superior league to the IPL.

The uae league if it takes pakistani players will probably be the Death knell of psl.

UAE league, I doubt can attract the crowds of India and Pakistan.

It will force the PCB to find a new window for the PSL

No one have that much time in UAE to go and fill stadium, I doubt it will generate any crowd.

LQ are going absolutely crazy ie gifting the top performing players the latest IPhone Every game, they announced the latest iPhone for every team member and support personnel for winning the PSL, they announced a 4 wheel drive vehicle for Shaheen and a Honda Civic for Fakhar. This is just from their end

Sponsors will reward separately. Are the PSL franchises really in losses or are they just tricking and conning the PCB into getting a bigger slice of the pie?

There is a reason why the franchises are hesitant to submit audited by the big 4 accounting firm financials

Lahore Qalandars have already invested a lot in Pakistan Cricket through their Talent hunts and Player development programs. In the video Sameen Rana did mentioned about BOP rewarding 100M PKR in cash prize. After their performance in this year's PSL they have become a well known brand in the world.

PSL Franchises did accumulate their return on investment in the 5th season. Looking at this trend I highly doubt Franchises are going at a lose now. Maybe it is time for franchises to take things seriously and go about in a professional approach. Work on long term. Set up their base with a camp or even a home stadium.

It’s also one of the reasons why the franchises are also not owners in perpetuity of these franchises. It’s because the PCB doesn’t really trust them.

However, if they do go to other grounds as well, they’ll do great gate receipts which will only help profits increase inshAllah. That’ll almost guarantee 2 new teams in 2025.

However, the impact of the UAE league is gonna be a problem. Im not sure when else the PSL can be rescheduled.

Those are collections before the PSL started. There will be further collections as they wrap up the books for PSL7.

Bigger slice? The franchises already have the whole pie. The PCB are empty handed.

Correction: 10M PKR Cash award

im sure the phones and cars are provided by sponsors, i doubt LQ woul go out of their way to buy these just to gift to players. Like the old days were players used to win cars and motorbikes for MOM awards

bro thats lahore.....

Lahore cricket is funded really well. This is why it was important for Lahore to win as Lahore is the cricket center from players pov and fans pov aswell..

Karachi has nothing on cricket. LQ was bound to make money here and especially from last nights win.

BOP is a punjab govt run back, so quite surprising that they are giving our prize money

Lahore winnig the psl is the best thing to have happened
And all those who are comparing UAE league to PsL are naive
PsL is a brand owned by a bigger nation and who is also a test playing nation with bigger crowd
Once PSL is played on acutual home and away basis in their respective grounds this will shoot up like crazy.

Uae league will be just another lollipop leauge like t20 which wont have much significance

In order to counter the UAE League and their $2 million Salary Cap. The PCB will plan to find another window.

The UAE themselves are planning to hold their league in Aug-Sept 2021. The UAE will not get the crowds that the IPL and PSL gets.

Congratulations.

I notice this a lot more in Pakistan, not just with PCB but people are eager to discuss their financial numbers for public consumption
either positive or negative. Till date I have no clue how much profit/ loss BCCI, ICC, IPL franchise or TV broadcasters make or what are the year on year returns.

I feel BCCI are much more open.

PCB only do this when good news.
