KARACHI: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have shown all out support to Mr Najam Sethi to remain the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

After Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as single largest party in the elections, the reports about Sethi’s removal as PCB chairman are roaming all around.

According to the Daily Express, the PSL franchises owners’ are on one page to support Mr Chairman and want him to continue as the head of the PCB.

According to the sources, one franchise owner have asked Sethi to not worry as he has some good links within the ruling party so he will advise them to not disturb the current setup of the PCB as it is working smoothly having some great achievements to their name.

The sources also confirmed that the one PSL official who was reported to be interested for the PCB’s Chairmanship has assured Mr Sethi that he was not interested for this position and will support him throughout.

The sources further stated that Najam Sethi wants the PSL franchises to support him publically to make his position strong but it seems like the franchises are reluctant to make any quick statement in this regard as they are worried that if Sethi gets removed from his role then the next governing body will consider them as the supporters of Najam Sethi.

It is pertinent to mention that only Jawed Afridi—Owner of Peshawar Zalmi, has publically put his opinion in favor of PCB’s boss but even he had to face serious criticism on twitter.

On the other hand none of the former players have supported Mr Sethi which is a serious concern for PCB’s Chairman.

Any change in the PCB’s set up is likely to take place after Imran Khan — in-waiting Prime Minister of Pakistan, will resume the office of premiership.

I am quite surprised the support najam sethi is getting from these franchises something is not right

I'm not because they've been well supported and exist because of Sethi who deserves credit for his contributions to PSL. But, overall Pakistan's domestics and cricketing infrastructure as a whole is still a mess and we need an independent PCB, so he still needs to be shown the door.

Yep PSL and bringing a few lowly ranked C teams to Pakistan are the only positives I can take from Sethi. But the bad outweighs the good,so we need to see him go.

People here just dont understand that making psl happen is a very big deal.

And to have psl matches take place in pakistan is also a very big deal.

Look at sri lanka, and south africa. They had a t20 tournament but couldnt run it.

Its easy to come up with an idea but running it takes alot of guts.

The term psl was only heard during dna's tenure and after him many chairmans came. To one knew how to make psl into reality.

Najem sethi not only made psl into a reality, this guy was able to have a pakistani league take place in UAE and still make it a success.

Yes it is a success the fact that we have had 3 seasons proof so.

Might aswell remove him from pcb but not psl

I respect the support franchises are giving but first of all they should realize that now PSL has become a big brand (of course all of them had a big role) but there were 32 bids for the 6th franchise and there must be more than 50,60 if there is a 7th franchise so they better accept what is happening.

After all Najam Sethi had to go one day from the position irrespective of the Govt.

What is the bad? Please tell us.

Well seeing as how much he prioritized PSL over all other aspects of Pakistan cricket this is no surprise!

I think it's time for him to go from the PCB Chairman job. With Imran Khan as PM I'm hoping a less corrupt wave will flood in for Pakistan. Najam Sethi was picked down to connections from the corrupt Pakistan leaders. He did a good job, but we need a fresh start. Even in PSL, it's good to change around heads every once a while so fixing is less likely to occur and if fixing does occur not allow it to settle. When you leave someone in power too long, bad things can happen, and things can go under the radar.

Sethi has done some very good work for Pakistan cricket and should be congratulated. But he's served now 2 PCB chairman sentences and oversaw 3 editions of PSL. You can't say that he wasn't given a fair go at it.
