PTI's Tsunami March on 14th August [Mega Thread]

So the deadlock continues. PTI now wants Nawaz to resign for 1 month , is it legally even possible?

So according to maulana diesel, this dharna is fahashi because boys and girls are dancing together. :13:

Yep as per constituition he can go on long leave and a caretaker PM be appointed.

Leave is different than resignation isn't it. Like in my job I can go on a leave for 1 month but that won't be called me resigning for 1 month. Seems like PTI just wants the term "resignation" even if it just a short leave. I guess for face saving. Doesn't matter as long as this drama can finally be put to rest and IK can salvage some kind of pseudo-victory out of this.

Well they Had some Quran recitation, followed by songs the other day blatant disrespect for the Word of Allah.

Anyway on this topic the system needs to go and the corrupt generals who keep taking Us AID.

So what difference will this caretaker PM make? There was some logic in pushing for the removal of Nawaz's government, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

Imran is getting deluded by the minute.

Pakistan needs a revolution, but this is not the revolution it needs. From "sab taaj uchale jayenge, sab takht giraye jayenge", it has become "yeh woh subah to nahi jiski arzoo le kar chale the.."

Look folks Nawaz will never resign knowing that all others charges against him will then be activated. The military whom he was hoping would intervene will only enter the frame to do the exact opposite after all parties involved have exhausted themselves out. IK has played all his cards and does not know what to do any further. Either he ransacks parliament house, keeps sitting outside forever or may have to return back home with his tail and arrogance between his leg....in such his political career will be over.

TuQ is the same, his non-violence philosophy is wonderful but won't give him victory. Both TuQ and IK are hoping that the other thinks of something outside the box now. Being fully aware of the deadly consequences Nawaz will not use force on the protesters unless they do so first.

Still can't come to terms with this 1 month nonsense. Imran's drama has badly flopped in my opinion.

He really doesn't know what to do now.

This I month resignation makes no sense. I think PTI are beginning to crack now and are willing to compromise much more then the government.

What outcome were you people expecting? Nawaz on the streets in torn clothes with a kashkol in his hand or wearing striped clothes in jail?

The nuisance that the Great Khan has created for people of Islamabad/Rawalpindi. Looks he doesn't care about anything but Nawaz's head right now. Has lost it completely.

Good references. Faiz sb created poetry that will last forever and verses like these will unfortunately continue to ring true.

The outcome will be when all this ends.
All we can hope for is that what ever happens is good for Pakistan.

malik brother, I have seen so many people accuse you of various things, like supporting israel, wanting pakistan to emulate israel, misusing Islam, asking for the death of PTI supporters. but never read any post of yours like that.. so not sure what these people are on about.

those posts prolly got deleted by mods and he gets a warning

Lols assume he leaves the office for 1 month. What would that change? As long as his govt is there no one dares to give a decision against him.

At the moment it seems like Imran has made this a personal agenda to remove Nawaz and even if he is gone on leave for a month Imran would feel satisfied and can save his face.

I think it's pity because I was really looking forward to get rid of this corrupt govt once for and for all.

"Today, we offered Nawaz Sharif the *Perfect Democratic Solution* Practiced in Every Civilized Country of this World!

That you resign for 30 days i.e. till investigations are concluded into the rigging of Election 2013 and if you are proved innocent, we will accept you happily. But the Autocratic Badshah thinks he is unaccountable!

A Free and Fair inquiry cannot be held when the beneficiary is sitting on the top most position of the country.

It seems the Autocratic Badshah will understand only the power of people."

Found this on the Facebook page, don't think Nawaz will accept anyways. He'll be exposed easily.

Why is 1 month's resignation being demanded. If Nawaz Sharif resigns:

a - Chaudhry Nisar will become Prime Minister

Comments: Chaudhry Nisar is the most senior and someone who will be acceptable to all parties.

b - Once Prime Minister, Chaudhry Nisar will honour his undertaking given to army, which was to allow Musharraf safe passage.

Comment: Recently, the Sharifs and Nisar fell out because the Sharifs didn't allow Musharraf to leave. Furthermore, they were the least bit concerned that Nisar was upset with them. They only mended relations once they started realising that Imran Khan was courting Nisar and that Imran Khan was planning a major protest against government.

c - Once Prime Minister, Nisar will have sole authority to dissolve Parliament, which he may do so once the Judicial Commission finds that large-scale rigging took place. He may even dissolve Parliament IF the Sharifs try to object against allowing Musharraf safe passage.

By removing Nawaz Sharif, all of the above can be achieved while remaining within the ambits of our Constitution and that too within 1 month.

Chori Nisar's name keeps coming up.

The trouble is, Nawaz may not go for the 1 month leave thing, because he's undoubtedly heard of the rumors too. Unless of course something forces his hand.

We may be in for an interesting few days. Perhaps a sudden speech and resignation.

After 9 days of marches & dharnas in rain & sun, this has become all the more relevant to look into the future ...

Why Elections 2013 have become irrelevant? - Any sane person familiar with history of Pakistan will find it difficult to disagree that for all practical purposes the Elections 2013 that created the current parliament have lost most if not all utility as a political instrument. Elections are only one of the instruments of political legitimacy and control and Elections - especially when they are held under a complex system of 'First pass the Poll' mechanism -- are credible and meaningful only as long as they define the political reality, mood, argument and legitimacy for governance, and making difficult decisions and for carrying all sides along. In Pakistan a new political reality has emerged which is not being defined by the parliament. The conduct of the parliament and its recent resolutions in self-defense only represent 'conflict of interest' because the members inside have little bearing on the situation outside and no connect with thousands sitting outside and millions and millions across the country who are convinced that Elections 2013 were stolen and the ruling party, its allies and sections of judiciary (that in public consciousness have tried sitting in judgment on political conflicts with partisan minds) promoted by Justice Iftikhar Chauhdry are all acting in cahoots.

PM Nawaz & PMLN had several opportunities in the last 14 months to engage their real political opposition and to resolve the issues that were brewing regarding Elections 2013 but PM Nawaz and PMLN leadership failed to grasp the political realities. Initial tensions with Military Establishment on Musharraf trial (not as decisive or dangerous as conveyed by lay media) lead to more serious brinksmanship on GEO issue convincing the military to the last soldier that Nawaz Sharif is after them turning this into an existential conflict. Once the conflict reached the razor edge PMLN leadership panicked and started denying it and mending it. However it had crossed the tipping point. Today it is difficult to find a single living person inside the military establishment that has anything positive to say about PM Nawaz. This has provided a huge space to PMLN's political opposition which they have expanded by this recent movement. Now one can make lot of academic, moral, constitutional or starry eyed legalistic arguments about this situation but 'real politick' matters in the end and you need 'power' to govern, to take decisions and deliver. PM Nawaz's ill thought move to persuade US State Department to issue strong statements in his defense (in a country where most educated people are painfully aware that how US has repeatedly ditched democracy and democratic principles all across Muslim world for expediency and short term interests) has further weakened PM Nawaz politically - which was at full display on 21st Aug, during PTI rally at D-Chowk.

PM & his team's failure to grasp political realities is pretty obvious when instead of relying upon savvy political engagements with their opponents they kept on either relying upon 'administrative muscle' or 'pedestrian arguments' to control a reality that was emerging or was made to emerge in front of their faces. For instance midnight invasion of Dr. Tahir ul Qadri's Model Town Compound in Lahore in June, using Punjab Police, that turned into a murder of 14-15 innocent people; diverting Emirates Plane to Lahore so that Qadri cannot lead a procession from Islamabad to Lahore; imprisoning hundreds and thousands of people in Lahore and Punjab and later Islamabad inside walls of containers; jockeying with the stupid idea of clearing crowds in Lahore once again through Police action; orchestrating an attack on PTI rally in Gujranwala to create fear; and most importantly the latest brain wave of clearing crowds - that combined reaches close to hundred thousand at night - outside parliament through police crackdown are all specimens of that 'administrative muscle' thinking that has continuously backfired and yet has been relied upon. We can't still be sure if they have overgrown this 'under-siege' mentality.

What about the pedestrian arguments? Instead of focusing upon possible political engagement and political solutions to satisfy their opponents, PMLN leaders, allied sections of Media and Social Media Teams kept focusing on how many protesters are there? ignoring the reality that their opponents were able to mobilize hundreds and thousands in different cities in the past several weeks across the country either through congregations, jalsas, marches and 'dharnas" or through tv or social media changing the political discourse and its arguments creating a new consciousness focused on rigged elections, and painting Nawaz Sharif govt as a family rule of father, brother, daughter, nephews, cousins, close relatives and former paid employees etc, backed by judges that had either worked directly for Nawaz Sharif's business interests or were promoted by him in their careers. PMLN kept on defining this as 'few thousand protestors' in Islamabad ignoring that PTI after all had collected around 8 million votes, had challenged elections and the crowds in Islamabad only represent "tip of the iceberg" representing a much larger political discontent across the country. Also the facts that such large crowds managed to reach Islamabad despite thousands of arrests, police beatings, attacks by PMLN workers, hundreds of road blocks, police restrictions of all sorts and were able to sustain themselves despite repeated rains, heat, humidity, problems of food, toilettes and fear of Police crackdowns say's something about the political mood across country - crowds know fully well that they represent a feeling across the country. Now other "dharnas" or sit-ins have appeared across Karachi, Lahore and Multan and more may emerge.

All this does not mean that PMLN does not have large support bases across Punjab or Nawaz has to resign; Nawaz Sharif still has support of almost all parliamentary parties in the house and his party is now busy parading its own supporters or allied religious parties on streets. But what this new political situation clearly shows is that PM Nawaz Sharif's ability to take the country along as a whole and to take difficult decisions either with India or internally on economy is much reduced now. The assembly he is trying to find support from is precisely the assembly which is under challenge and ridicule by his opponents. History is replete with such examples where monarchs and rulers keep taking refuge behind a political structure whose credibility is being questioned - and in most cases it fails.

This is not a numbers game but a "political moment" the kind of moment where the politics changes; PMLN still thinks that rain, or heat, cholera or sectarian conflict or police action will clear the crowds and things will become smooth again. It won't happen. If PM Nawaz fails to engage Imran Khan & even Qadri in a meaningful constructive way then his government will remain troubled even if this "political moment" passes. This is time to think of "political & constitutional solutions" that can restore trust between all sides with a view towards future. Current setup without some accommodations wont deliver. It has lots its utility, relevance and legitimacy; this is emerging realpolitik and will start to sink soon - even If not clear to many caught in the heat of the moment.

I just saw that too.....lol, asal baat zaban pe aa hi gaye ;-)

It's understandable, there comes an age when botox becomes useless, especially given what he put his body through during his youth days in several fields of play.

Did he really say this?

He did and it was him having a bit of fun with his supporters - It's a sit-in and he is a leader who from time to time comes on the mic and interacts with his supporters. Nothing serious. Only Yellow Journalists are highlighting this.

However, Shahbaz Sharif making promises during election speeches and then withdrawing from those by terming them as Josh-E-Khitabat is perfectly acceptable for our lifafa journalists.

And "Did you really know!" that a video has been leaked in which Punjab's Law minister was seen taken money from a person under investigation, actually case was on-going, for fraud. And he clearly stated he was taking this from him on behalf of CM Punjab. Guess what though, he is still our Law Minister - he hasn't resigned nor has he stepped down as long as investigation is on-going.

However, Imran's comment made to just lighten the mood at the sit-in suddenly becomes the most important issue for some journalists.

Me thinks the purpose behind this whole march was his Shadi all along. After losing elections he must be feeling inadequate, as if his virility and manhood has been stolen away from him like the elections. He decided to finally take it all back following the scripts of the all too common Bollywood love story. Nawaz was a convenient villain, rich, old, pudgy and half bald. TUQ, a comical sidekick, while the dharna audience played the role of extras. The curtains will fall when in a few days, Nawaz will be seen crying and running away to Saudia and during his triumphant speech to the jubilant audience, his supposed to be wife will be called on stage and DJ Butt will start playing Ibrar's signature number "Billo de Ghar" as the whole audience will start dancing along with IK and credits will start rolling with "...And they ruled Pakistan forever and lived happily ever after"

The End.

Imran Khan said 1 month later on so as to highlight how flexible he has been during the negotiations. He wanted to show the World that his only demand is that the Prime Minister should step down while the judicial commission investigates the rigging in 2013 general elections. We have asked Nawaz Sharif to step down because:

1. PTI does not trust Nawaz Sharif and has lost confidence in him. A proper investigation cannot be conducted under him because he is not a man of his words and while he is at the helm, witnesses will not come forward to give evidence.

2. An Interim-PM will be appointed and he will give undertaking that if commission finds that the elections were rigged then he will dissolve national assembly and call for mid-term elections. Nawaz Sharif might not do that even if Judicial Commission finds that rigging took place.

3. Imran Khan has said that Nawaz Sharif will not be PM until the Judicial Commission does not deliver their verdict. That can be 15 days, 1 month, 3 months or 6 months - It will be in Nawaz Sharif's interest to fully cooperate with the Commission and not use delay tactics.

4. Nawaz Sharif resigning in itself would be a big blow to him - He will no longer remain the same and PMLN will lose its writ and power in politics to a very large extent. It will be seen as weak.

Imran Khan should give up his demand of Nawaz Sharif's resignation. In return government should accept all other demands of Imran Khan for election reforms (all those demands are in favour of Pakistan).

Nawaz Sharif will not have easy nights until the SC commission gives its report on the rigging in four constituencies.

why has there been so little comment from the ganja smokers about the massive u-turn of the pmln from 'we cant do anything about the election confirmation requests, its the job of the election commission' to 'yes yes we'll do anything you say except have ganja resign, we will have the election results reconfirmed'?

Why do you keep using that as a full stop?

I am sorry. I don't understand what you mean by that.

It's not just "majority makes the government". It's about national seats, seats in opposition and peoples rights being taken from them. Besides, without an investigation, who knows what the actual majority was?

How can you follow democracy if the basic tenant of democracy is not followed? Free and fair elections!

I can't convince you through this post but during the election day I was in Pakistan and there were waves of PTI votes which were known as N-league areas historically. We'd never witnessed anything like it ever before. The 'awaam' had spoken. But then, when 1 percent of the votes had been counted, Nawaz Shareef gave a victory speech...

Let's not play all innocent now. Your comments on the development of lahore and peshawer, your general attitude towards PTI with that picture etc all give testament to your immaturity and your double digit IQ.

Ofcourse, my attitude towards PTI is quite clear. I leave it at that. I don't resort to personal insult on those who differ. Otherwise, i can use same words for you and you will get upset. Only one person is showing maturity by not resorting to personal insult and show the mannerism of eduated person using within freedom of speech bestowed by democracy; however, it is also applicable in Islamic laws as well.

I suggest you leave at that. You are entitled to talk about PMLN and its policy as i have often said before. But don't resort to personal insult those who differ from your ideology. They are free to what they believe and you are free to what you believe. Resorting to personal insult is one of the traits of of Jahil, no offence.

Mr MalikMohsin. Look at you profile picture. Look at some of the language you've used towards PTI supporters and you call others Jaahil?

I don't even know you personally so how can I make a personal hit? Personal or not, being insulting is being insulting. You know as well as I do if you had said something like "I disagree with XYZ. PTI is wrong in this" no one would jump on you but the fact is you use instigative words and language just to annoy people and make them angry.

This does no good and I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve. We can have a civil discussion but some of the anti PTI folk on here are really bitter and investigative with their criticism and I'm sorry to say you're one of them right now.

it won't be the govt doing confirmation, it will be the Supreme Court...and never a good idea for the judiciary to get involved in these issues, we have already seen how U-Turn Khan changed his opinion on Iftikhar Chaudhry.

Nawaz Sharif will not have easy nights until the SC commission gives its report on the rigging in four constituencies.

if you think a PTI candidate could beat the likes of Kh Asif in Sialkot and Kh Saad Rafique in Lahore then you are dreaming my friend.

in Jahangir Tareen's consistuency PMLN finished 3rd so that is not even our concern.

in NA-122 where Imran lost to Ayaz Sadiq, that is probably the only one where the result was a surprise, even to PMLN observers.

You could also not believe that Ahsan Iqbal would lost his constituency but before the elections and on the election day waves and waves of people came out for Abrar-ul-Haq. You can't really go by previous results for this elections.

That's avatar of Imran Khan, not his supporters. Like what? Please provide the whole context to avoid any confusion here.

Yes, i am anti-PTI now. Meri marzi....Yet, i don't resort to personal insult on his supporters. My opinion is strictly with PTI and its policy. That's it.

His supporters can say whatever they want about PMLN and its policy. Nobody is stopping them. What is with personal insult just because some of them differ from your ideology?

Today PTI broke negotiations on a very illogical demand. According to them, PMLN government can stay, cabinet can stay but PM should resign. PMLN agreed to all conditions for a transparent investigation by Supreme Court judges into PTI allegations regarding organized rigging in 2013 elections.

Yet they want PM NS to resign to have fair investigation. Wouldn't nominee of NS in PM office have same power as NS? Any change for 30 days would make Pakistan look an unstable country. We agreed on mechanism for electoral reforms too but fail to understand why PTI isn't focusing on issues instead of making personality clash.

National Assembly and Senate have passed unanimous resolutions for PM NS to not resign. PTI must not isolate itself nationally and should quit egoistic politics.

Imran basically acting like a ziddi bacha who cannot back down from this one demand after hollering about it for the past month.

I know this doesn't make any sense. But this is tactic of weakening PMLN. I like electoral reforms better that can eliminate any chance of fraud in the next election. But this tactics of Imran khan will only weaken democracy which will set dangerous precedent in order to derail the democracy process.

To be fair, You are talking about Naya Peshawar. Kahaan Naya Peshawar and kahaan third-class Islamabad. Imran Khan is in Islamabad to bring NAYA Islamabad. :jf

Somebody needs to come and take away the garbage.

When binmen come down my street I thank them for taking out the garbage i don't criticise them for having dirty clothes or a dirty garbage truck.

If you're not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

This analogy may fly over your head.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said that he wanted ‘Naya Pakistan’ to be formed quickly so that he could get married, Geo News reported.

He expressed his wish while addressing the participants of Azadi march sit-in on Saturday.

Imran Khan said policemen support PTI from their heart.

That "marriage" reference by Imran Khan has given people something to smile about, but he said it in jest. GEO News is like, "Raaz khul gya! Naya Pakistan shaadi ke liye bnaya jaa raha." What amazingly overboard reporting of such a light-hearted comment:facepalm:!

And even if he was serious and does go on to get married, it doesn´t mean that he is doing all this for his marriage!

ok, I got responses from both Nostalgic(my 3rd favourite) and saadibaba (my first favourite). now I can log off and sleep with a smile.

Who is on the second spot?

Populist’s Brash Tactics Stir Fears of Crisis in Pakistan

LONDON — Only last year, Imran Khan was casting himself as the savior of Pakistani politics: a playboy cricketer turned opposition leader who enjoyed respect and sex appeal, filling stadiums with adoring young Pakistanis drawn to his strident attacks on corruption, American drone strikes and old-school politics. When Mr. Khan promised that he would become prime minister, many believed him.

Now, though, Mr. Khan’s populist touch appears to have deserted him.

He led thousands of supporters into the center of the capital, Islamabad, a week ago in a boisterous bid to force the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whom he accuses of election fraud. But the crowds he attracted were much smaller than his party had hoped, and the protest movement has been messy, inchoate and inconclusive.

Mr. Khan, 61, delivers speeches every day from atop a shipping container opposite the Parliament building, while his supporters sleep on the streets of a paralyzed city. But because he lacks the clout to break the political deadlock, he has turned to inflammatory tactics.

In recent days, he has called for a tax boycott, threatened to have his supporters storm the prime minister’s house, and pulled his party’s lawmakers from Parliament. In interviews, he has compared himself to Gandhi and to Tariq ibn Ziyad, an eighth-century Islamic general. In speeches, he has threatened his enemies and taunted Mr. Sharif, at one point challenging him to a fistfight.

The rest of the political opposition and much of the news media in Pakistanhave turned against Mr. Khan, who is seen as having disastrously overreached. “Go Home Imran,” said a politically conservative newspaper, The Nation. Another writer called him “the Sarah Palin of Pakistan.”

But many worry that Mr. Khan’s brash tactics could endanger the country’s fragile democracy. Breaking its sphinxlike stance, the military intervened in the turmoil on Tuesday, urging politicians to resolve their differences with “patience, wisdom and sagacity.” Though benignly worded, the statement caused anxious flutters among the political class, who note Pakistan’s long history of military coups.

The protests in Islamabad “threaten to upend the constitutional order, set back rule of law and open the possibility of a soft coup, with the military ruling through the back door,” the Brussels-based International Crisis Group warned on Thursday. Hours later, the American Embassy in Islamabad said pointedly in a statement that its diplomats “strongly oppose any efforts to impose extraconstitutional change.”

On the streets, Mr. Khan’s movement has the boisterous feel of a midsummer music festival. Pop stars introduce his speeches, which are punctuated by songs during which his supporters, many of them women, burst into dance. A disc jockey known as DJ Butt is part of his entourage.

But Mr. Khan’s stewardship of that exuberant crowd has seemed erratic. When the marchers arrived in Islamabad on Aug. 15 after a punishing 36-hour journey from Lahore, the capital was being pounded by rain. While his supporters slept on the wet streets, Mr. Khan retreated to his villa outside the city to rest, drawing sharp criticism.

In speeches, he has used extensive cricket analogies, referring to himself as “captain,” and his heated, often intemperate style has alienated some supporters. At one point, he threatened to send his political enemies to theTaliban so the insurgents could “deal with them.”

Mr. Khan’s call for supporters to stop paying taxes and utility bills met with widespread derision because few Pakistanis pay income taxes, and the country is already crippled with power shortages. His attack on the United States ambassador, Richard G. Olson, was seen as pandering to anti-American sentiment. “Are we, Pakistanis, children of a lesser god?” he said in that speech.

The protests stem from accusations of vote-rigging in the May 2013 general election. Mr. Khan accuses Mr. Sharif’s party of fixing the vote in a number of constituencies in Punjab Province. Critics of Mr. Khan call his accusations sour grapes: Although international observers noted some irregularities, the election was accepted as broadly free and fair.

Suspicions that the military, whose relations with Mr. Sharif’s government have been tense, might have something to do with Mr. Khan’s protest movement were heightened by the appearance of Muhammad Tahir-ul Qadri, a mercurial cleric whose parallel movement has, in recent days, outshone Mr. Khan’s.

Mr. Qadri, who wants to replace Mr. Sharif’s government with one of technocrats, appears to have attracted a larger and more disciplined crowd, and to be benefiting from a simpler message. Normally based in Canada, he controls no seats in Parliament, and his populist manifesto is filled with laudable but vague notions like an end to terrorism.

Mr. Sharif’s government, which initially reacted to the protests in a clumsy and sometimes brutal manner, has taken a more sophisticated approach in recent days. The police have allowed Mr. Khan’s and Mr. Qadri’s supporters to reach the area outside Parliament, although the building itself is surrounded by hundreds of soldiers.

On one level, the dispute is about control of Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province and Mr. Sharif’s political heartland. Mr. Khan’s party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, knows it must challenge Mr. Sharif in Punjab to stand a chance of beating him nationally.

Negotiations started Wednesday, but Mr. Khan called them off a day later, demanding that Mr. Sharif resign first. Addressing a crowd, he railed against the prime minister in language considered coarse even by the rowdy standards of Pakistani politics.

Pressure to resolve the crisis is rising, both from hard-liners in Mr. Sharif’s party and from residents of Islamabad, who complain about the strain the protests have put on the capital. Protesters dry their laundry on the lawn of the Supreme Court and slip behind bushes to defecate.

The former president, Asif Ali Zardari, has offered to help mediate between the parties and met with Mr. Sharif on Saturday. But the situation on the streets remains fluid. An outbreak of violence or an overreaction by the police could shift the advantage to Mr. Khan and endanger the government, analysts say.

Few Pakistanis believe that a military coup is imminent. But the crisis has weakened Mr. Sharif, who has squabbled with the generals over policy toward India, peace talks with the Taliban and the fate of the former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, who faces treason charges.

“The military doesn’t need to impose martial law now,” said Amir Mateen, a political analyst based in Islamabad. “Imran has weakened the entire political class, and the government is on its knees. The military can have its agenda fulfilled without doing anything.”

The next move, though, is up to Mr. Khan, who, having played an ambitious game, now needs to find a way to end it peacefully.

Imran basically acting like a ziddi bacha who cannot back down from this one demand after hollering about it for the past month.

Imran suggests use of Hundi system for transfer of money

ISLAMABAD: After civil disobedience announcement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has suggested overseas Pakistanis to use Hundi system for transfer of money to Pakistan, Geo News reported.

Suggesting illegal action to the Pakistanis living abroad, Imran asked them to stop sending money to their families through banks (remittances) and use Hundi system for transfer of money to Pakistan.

According to a report, long march and sit-in politics has incurred a loss of Rs490 billion on Pakistan only in August.

^ Now, that is real test for supporters of PTI in overseas. I wonder how many will be willing to send money through Hundi system now.

Looks like Nawaz showing up his weakness...

Looks like he is happy to ditch his Brother and wants to enter into 'Marriage of convenience' with Zardari !

http://www.dawn.com/news/1127440/shahbaz-denies-resignation-rumours

"A senior PAT leader Amir Fareed talking to Dawn alleged that PM Nawaz Sharif had offered former president Asif Ali Zardari to become the President of Pakistan. The claim could not be verified by PPP sources."

it won't be the govt doing confirmation, it will be the Supreme Court...and never a good idea for the judiciary to get involved in these issues, we have already seen how U-Turn Khan changed his opinion on Iftikhar Chaudhry.

Either the government has control of the investigation it they don't, it's very simple.

Previously they insisted that this was not their mandate. They insisted it was the ec's mandate.

Now they are saying they will facilitate it.

Is it under their control it not? If it is not and it's simply a case of the sc, than why are they saying that THEY concede it as a condition THEY accept.

This extremely simple illustration i suspect you might still find opaque but it's a frikking huge U TURN.

Imran liking someone and then suspecting he is corrupt is not a u-turn. You don't like someone on principle or regulation. You do lie about your ability to fulfil an action on principle and regulation if suddenly you say you can without a change in the legislation.

I know this doesn't make any sense. But this is tactic of weakening PMLN. I like electoral reforms better that can eliminate any chance of fraud in the next election. But this tactics of Imran khan will only weaken democracy which will set dangerous precedent in order to derail the democracy process.

No, it doesn't weaken democracy if there was no legitimate democracy in the first place, it restores democracy and begins the process of fixing the democratic process.

I don't think you realize the repercussion once Imran khan recent tactics is legalized and constitutional. Any new party will follow the same pattern to issue civil disobedience and take any city as hostage to put pressure on federal gov't. There will be no continuity for any gov't then. There is the reason why Parliament has deemed Imran khan's march illegal and unconsitutional.

Every political leaders need to be united to send clear message to Pakistan army and its takeover. Otherwise, this will be result of weakening democracy which means strengthening powers for Army then. As i said before, this is no longer about PMLN now.

No, I think you are turning a complete blind eye to the atrocious governance of the country to date. Revolutions, peoples revolts have happened time and time again throughout history when there has been a situation where people prefer hardship to the continuation of widespread corruption and oppressive rule - it's just not correct to place 'continuity' as the ultimate unassailable ambition when it is rotten and diseased.

In the countries where a public revolt of some description has resulted in a change of government, on some occasions this has been surpassed again, as in Egypt recently for example, but very few end up becoming serial protest states - there's no evidence as you suggest that this sets a revolving door precedent.

If anything, it's an unbelievably myopic if not blind perspective to take that the status quo is one of sustainability preferable to a revolt. If this were a fair democracy that should be defended at all costs, we would not have had as many coups as we have had.

Facts are that the status quo is riddled with a degree of corruption that the people find unacceptable, which is why we have coups, and which has caused death, destructions and an extremely disabled and dysfunctional state for decades, particularly with respect to pakistans peers. Google Nawaz sharif or zarari and corruption. These guys are traitors and have avoided justice not faced it. How can you defend them or a system that allows them still to be in a position of rule?

I can't understand how taking a position against the one party who's main aim has alwas been to cleanse society of corruption is anything but complicit.

Two reputable names to join PTI tonight: Khan

16:34 Aug 24, 2014

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Sunday announced that two ‘big names’ of Pakistani politics would join his party tonight.

“Two reputable persons will announce their joining of PTI tonight,” Khan said while addressing the participants of the sit-in.

Reiterating his stance, The PTI chief said that he would not back off from the prime minister resignation’s demand.

“Before coming to my container for talks, make sure that the containers placed in Islamabad are removed,” Imran Khan urged the government while addressing the participants of the sit-in.

He said that soon after the election Asif Ali Zardari told him that the elections were rigged by returning officers. As to why he is standing with the prime minister now, he questioned.

He asked the prime minister Nawaz Sharif to resign for a month “otherwise, PTI workers will not leave Islamabad….no talks will be held till his resignation.” -Samaa

What on earth is his problem now? most of his demands have been accepted and now he has come up with this new banking crap.

He just doesn't get satisfied and comes up with something new nonsense every day.

Deserves a swift backhand across the face and one danda for each jobless insaafiyan out there in the street. That should be enough to put this fanatic and his worshipers back in their place and for order to restore.

Kya tamasha bana diya hai Pakistan ka.
