Qamran Iqbal is a 17 year old stylish batsman from Kashmir. He has already represented Ind U19 in the recently concluded quadrangular series and he was the leading run scorer for his team Ind B.Infact the next highest scorer from Ind B didn't even score half the runs that Qamran had scored. He opens the innings and his strike rate is always around 100.

Right now he is standing at no.3 in the list of the leading run scorers in the ongoing Vinoo Mankad Trophy(Under 19 ODI Tournament).
He has already scored two centuries and a half century in the 6 games that J&K have played.
Qamran came to limelight when he played for J&K Under 16 team.He scored heavily in that tournament and then was selected for the North Zone team.He shined for North Zone too.Soon he was playing for the J&K U19 team, his performances forced the selectors to pick him up for a camp in Bengaluru in which the top 30 U19 players from all across country were selected.
He is most probably going to represent India in the next U19 world cup.He definitely is the one to look out for.
Finally we have some brilliant players coming out from the Valley in the shape of Qamran,Rasikh and Taizeem.
This forum may not be crowded right now but I am sure it will one day.

Surprised that J&K is coming up with so much talent these days. I liked rasool but Ashwin had hit his peak and there was no way we were gonna replace him. Happy for you guys :)

Parvez Rasool was never going to succeed in international cricket.Although he still tops the chart in terms of best all rounder in domestics but you could see that he is one of those who performs only in domestic cricket.
Qamran is different,he scores quickly and right now he is one of the best U19 batsman in India (obviously excluding Shaw and Gill). There is another guy Rasikh Salam who was called up by Mumbai Indians for trials. He is only 17 and is seriously quick.Apparently he impressed the MI coaching stuff with his performance in trials, and guess what this guy has only played 2 games for J&K across all age group cricket.
Finally we are producing some good players.Barring these two the J&K U19 spinners currently are among the leading wicket takers too.

It will be really good if people from different and rare regions represent Indian cricket team! Had huge expectations from Sreeshanth from Kerala! Let's hope he will come good, after under 19 exposure he will definitely get chance in coming IPLs which he should utilize (like Pant, Bumrah, Pandya....) because J&K team may not get into elite Ranji & other domestic cricket!

Came to know about this guy from that quadrangular tournament
Was just following scores,he got half centuries in low scoring matches where almost everyone struggles including the opposition

He should get into the U-19'WC Squad since now he has continued his great form in Vinod Mankad Trophy
And he will have to perform well there so that it can help him get an IPL because the road from domestic cricket would be tough for him unless J&K get the promotion to the Elite Division

Plate Division players are generally discarded

J&K team were in the elite group in the Vijay Hazare trophy this year, although they had a disastrous start but they ended the tournament with 3 consecutive wins and that helped them to stay in the elite group. One of the wins was against Tamil Nadu.Even the U19 team is in the elite group where they are at no.4 in their group.

Unknown to overnight star: Meet J&K's latest 17-year-old pace sensation- Rasikh Salam

Three-time champions of IPL, Mumbai Indians on Friday called Rasikh Salam- 17-year-old pace prodigy from Jammu and Kashmir- for trials ahead of the IPL 2019 following his impressive outing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The trial session will take place in Mumbai tomorrow.

Rasikh, who recently made his debut in the competitive cricket against Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, had played no age-group level cricket before making his entry to the senior side, largely due to Irfan Pathan's insertion as mentor-cum-player to the side.

Coming from a small village of South Kashmir's Kulgam, Rasik bowls at an alarming pace and swings the ball both ways. He surprised one and all with his heroic bowling spell against mighty Tamil Nadu batting line-up, taking two big scalps by giving away 45 runs in his quota of 8 overs.

Luckily, an associate member of Mumbai Indians was watching the match and was impressed with Rasikh's bowling. Jammu and Kashmir went on to win the match by four wickets.

"He (the associate member of Mumbai Indians) was amazed to see Rasik's pace and swing at such a small age. Later, he invited Rasikh for the trial camp of Mumbai Indians that is scheduled to take place at Mumbai tomorrow," an official of JKCA told Sportskeeda.

Rasikh came into the limelight after he was nominated by Irfan Pathan in a talent-hunt camp held at Shei-I-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar. He was highly praised by both Pathan and J&K skipper Parvez Rasool.

J&K are in the elite group in Vijay Hazare trophy. The good thing about him is that he scores his runs at a very good pace and has a solid technique. He was easily the best batsman for Ind B in the quadrangular series.Getting into IPL would be huge for him but for that he has to play well in the U19 WC provided he gets selected for that.As he is only 17 he would be eligible to play the U19 WC in 2020.

Scored a crucial 67 on debut for the senior team in Ranji Trophy.Apart from him and Parvez Rasool, every single J&K Player struggled out there. There might be more hype regarding Rasikh Salam but if you tell me Qamran Iqbal is the one to look out for.He has been performing insanely well since 5 years now.

Hope J&K manages to built strong team for future with these emerging stars. Playing for and against better rated teams increases your skills and chance for national selection.

Indeed. Now there are two matches left in the season and both the matches are against really good bowling sides,so it would be very interesting to see how he performs. Our selectors are so pathetic that they will drop him if he fails in one or two matches.

J and K are producing some talent. It would be great to see an Indian team with more regions represented.

He might have scored only 64 runs today against Assam but when you look at the context of the game you would realise what a fabulous knock this guy has played.
On a day where we saw 20 wickets fall in around 80 overs there was this 17 year old,Qamran Iqbal fighting hard and when he was running out of the partners he decided to up the ante and was the last man dismissed in the process.
Not a single player from both the team's was able to score even a score of 40.
When you look at the Assam team, you would realise that their batting is average but their bowlers are fantastic.Infact three of them are in top 20 leading wicket takers of the season in this season of Ranji Trophy. That is what makes this knock even more special.
The way he started to hit sixes after the loss of 9 wickets tells me that he is a team player and doesn't care if he loses his wicket in the process.
Well done Qamran for scoring your 2 half centuries in your first 3 innings.
Will post the highlights of the innings soon. Madplayer Nikhil_cric UN talkz

He has a batting stance which appears so close to both graham gooch and grame hick (england.)

He looks like he has amazing game awareness so early in his career. Wonderful talent. Would keep an eye on him because this is the first i am hearing of him.

Has already represented Ind U19 and I believe he will go a long way in his career.I have seen him bat many times in the nets and you could see that he is really special.

Looks very pleasing to eyes and good hand eye coordination. Should stay focused and he will soon represent India.

Well first he has to represent Ind U19 in the upcoming world cup and if he performs well there then he surely will get some attention.

True, there certainly is some similarity. He has to improve his off side game a bit but if you bowl to him within the stumps he will dispatch you from mid-wicket to square leg region. He has got lots of time to play his shots, which always a good sign as he will face quicker bowlers in future.

Bit too early to judge imo.

Selected in the India U19 team for the upcoming quadrangular series. After all those performances he has moved on from Ind B team to Ind A.
If he performs well in this tournament then he surely will play for Ind U19 in the world cup next year.
Would love to see how he plays against bowlers like Musa,Naseeem Shah,Hasnain in the U19WC as he currently is the best player of fast bowling at this level in India.

This series is official start of India's preparation for next WC. Only WC eligible players are selected. All those selected are first people Dravid want to look at. :)

The tournament starts from March 5th.The other two teams are from Afghanistan and South Africa.

True.India have found one opener(Yashavi Jaiswal) and now the battle is for the second opener.Although I am from Kashmir and can be a bit biased in this case but having seen all the upcoming batsmen I feel that Qamran is the one to look out for.
Learning from a player like Rahul Dravid is invaluable. The guy was my childhood hero.
Unfortunately Rasikh Salam missed out.Performed well in the Cooch Behar trophy and the Ranji Trophy.

Man of the match in the first match of the quadrangular series.Ind U19 A thrashed SA U19

He may lock in his position as opening partner to Jaiswal if he performs similarly in remaining games.
There are 3 openers fighting for 2 spots.Jaiswal has taken one spot now the battle is between Qamran and Tilak Verma to take that second openers place.
There is one problem with him and that is that he throws away his wicket after scoring a 40 or a 50 and gives his wickets to part timers. He has to work on that.
In this year's cooch Behar trophy he averaged 45 and yet he didn't hit a single ton, similarly in Ranji Trophy matches he scored two fifties in two matches.
Conversion rate needs to improve and luckily he has Rahul Dravid as a coach and he will surely address this problem.

He is from Kashmir, not Kashmiri. Just like Suresh Raina is from Kashmir but not ethnically Kashmiri

Currently playing for India U-19 in England. Interested to see how he goes. Good luck to the young man!

He is included in the J&K’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 squad which will start on Jan 10. Hopefully he can score some runs and impress some IPL scouts.
