Nauman Ali is an absolute ut beast in fc cricket last couple of seasons.

Unfortunately this shows problem in identifying talent at a younger level our system is unaware of of identifying potential youngsters and most of the time they end up dominating fc cricket in their peak and when they are finally moved to int cricket they are in the last phase of their peak it happened with Zukfiqar, Rehman and to an extend Yasir as well.

Nauman Ali on fire I have to say. It’s troubling that the likes of Nauman Ali, Kashif Bhatti are only considered Test material at the age of 34.

Meanwhile the youngster Zafar (and perhaps the next Nauman Ali) rots on the bench despite being player of the tournament last year.

Crazy collapse from Balochistan having taken a 1st innings lead.

Nauman Ali deserves to play test cricket. He at least can spin the ball unlike dart bhati

Looks like we are getting another result from the televised match (Bal vs SP). Can only be a good thing for the tournament, viewership wise

Oh dear Shan Masood nicks off driving away from his body in the first over.

Don't be doing that in New Zealand.

SP need 154 to win and are 0-1. One more twist ?

High quality cricket on display.
This is unprecedented for our domestic cricket.

Same happened with zulfikar babar when he was selected past his prime

Karachi, 2 November 2020:

Northern made an impressive comeback in the ongoing first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Central Punjab, the title defenders, in the afternoon session of the third day’s play at the National Bank Sports Complex.

The win helped Northern clinch 26 crucial points – 16 for outright win, four for batting and six for bowling.

It was an outstanding bowling performance from their captain, Nauman Ali, which orchestrated the victory as the left-arm orthodox dismissed six Central Punjab batsmen on Monday to finish the innings with seven for 53 and the match with 11 for 108.

Nauman, who was the highest wicket-taker last year, inflicted damage early on with a caught and bowled of Usman Salahuddin (14).

Central Punjab had begun the day at 64 for two with an imposing 131-run trail. A 68-run alliance for the sixth wicket between Central Punjab captain Azhar Ali, who recorded his 54th first-class half-century with a 150-ball 63 after resuming the day on 24, and Kamran Akmal 49 was the only notable resistance.

With 33 to win, Umair Masood’s quickfire 21 off 10 balls, half of which were dispatched for boundary, took Northern over the line in five overs with nine wickets spare.

This is Central Punjab’s second consecutive defeat. For the third round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which begins on 6 November, Central Punjab move back to National Stadium to play Balochistan. Northern will take on Sindh at the UBL Sport Complex.

The contest between Balochistan and Southern Punjab at the National Stadium was headed towards a thrilling finish as 18 wickets fell on day three of the broadcast match, produced by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Southern Punjab were 70 for three and 84 runs away from the win at the close of play. Saif Badar and Umar Siddiq were not out on 23 and four, respectively, after they lifted their team from precarious 39 for three in the chase of 154.

Shan Masood-led Southern Punjab were bowled out for 331 in 92.2 overs after beginning the day on 245 for five. Salman Ali Agha, who had scored half-century yesterday, added 45 runs to his overnight score as he fell three runs short of a century.

Over the course of his 141-ball 97 – studded with 13 boundaries – Salman added 63 crucial runs in his 115-run alliance for the sixth wicket stand with Imran Rafiq, who was unbeaten on 56.

Yasir Shah, the Balochistan captain, added two more wickets in an extended morning session to claim his 33rd first-class five-wicket haul. The leg-spinner took two more wickets in the day when Southern Punjab came out for the run chase in the evening session.

Balochistan’s second innings was wrapped in 31.3 overs with leg-spinner Zahid Mehmood doing most of the damage with four of 20. The 32-year-old’s scalps included top-scorer of the innings Imran Butt (32), Amad Butt (27), Khurram Shahzad (five) and Taj Wali (0).

Mohammad Abbas, who came as a concussion substitute for Bilawal Bhatti, did the damage early on with the wickets of Abdul Rehman Muzammil and Taimur Ali – both batsmen went back to hut without opening their accounts – after Mohammad Ilyas dismissed Sami Aslam (14) to get Balochistan’s first wicket. At this stage, the scorecard read a paltry 20 for three.

On Tuesday, Southern Punjab’s Saif and Umar will continue 31-run stand for the unfinished fourth wicket partnership.

Sindh had a second innings lead of 128 over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when stumps were drawn at the UBL Sports Complex. They were 74 for three in 34 overs with Asad Shafiq and Ashiq Ali not out on nine and 0, respectively. Opener Omair Bin Yousuf made 36 off 104 balls.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 307 all out in 105.4 overs after resuming the day on 136 for four.

Rehan Afridi, the wicketkeeper-batsman struck a half-century as he made 53 runs from 126 balls, which included seven fours, while tail-ender Usman Khan Shinwari was the other notable run-getter with a 72-ball 49. Usman hit six fours and two sixes.

Ashiq Ali took three more wickets to record his maiden five-wicket haul. The off-spinner finished with five for 94.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa added two batting points to their tally as they made 289 inside 100 overs, while Sindh pocketed three bowling points for dismissing eight opposition batsmen.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kamran Ghulam has been charged for a breach of PCB’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during his side’s second round first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture against Sindh at the UBL Sports Complex.

Kamran was fined 40 per cent of applicable match fee for a level 1 offence relating to showing dissent an umpire’s decision.

The incident took place on the third ball of the 57th over of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa innings on Monday when Kamran displayed his reservation at the umpire’s decision after getting caught behind off Sohail Khan.

Kamran was charged for the violation of Article 2.8 by on-field umpires Qaiser Waheed and Saqib Khan.

Kamran pleaded guilty and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Nadeem Arshad and, as such, there was no need for a hearing.

The computerised tomography (CT) scan conducted on Bilawal Bhatti in a local hospital on Monday afternoon was all clear and the all-rounder has been discharged from the hospital, but advised complete rest for the next few days.

The following is the sequence of events:

• Bilawal Bhatti was hit on the side of his head off a Khurram Shahzad short-pitched delivery in 84.1 overs (11.24am) when Southern Punjab were 311 for six

• As per 1.2.7.1.2 of the playing conditions, available here, Bilawal was inspected by the Team Medical Representative and was subsequently walked off the ground

• In the team treatment room, the Team Medical Representative asked Bilawal Bhatti a series of standard concussion-related questions. Bilawal was given a clearance to resume his innings, if required, after responding correctly to the standard questions asked in concussion-related injuries

• Bilawal returned to the field at the fall of Southern Punjab’s ninth wicket in 90.5 overs

• Bilawal was the last batsman out in 92.2 overs after facing seven deliveries following his return. He faced a total of 11 deliveries

• During the innings break, Bilawal was again inspected by the Team Medical Representative, who decided to take the fast bowler to a hospital for precautionary tests

• At the National Stadium, ambulance services, as per the PCB’s in-venue requirements, were available, which was used to transport the player to a local hospital

• Article 1.2.7 of the PCB playing conditions, which deals with the concussion replacement, is available on the PCB corporate site under Documents/Playing Conditions.

Southern Punjab won by 4 wickets

If there is any spinner that should replace Yasir, he is Sajid Khan. He can bat too.

He does look good except he doesn't score. Mentally weak

Yeah I always like the look of him and then he gets out. He’s troubled for confidence seeing his mates and age-peers make it ahead of him and even youngsters like Haider move past. Get the feeling he’s lost some hope, doesn’t help that he was in and out of the team because of the management and unable to get a consistent run in 3 years.

Karachi, 3 November 2020:

Southern Punjab recorded their second win in as many matches with a four-wicket win over Balochistan in a closely fought second round first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy fixture at the National Stadium.

Southern Punjab were 84 runs away from adding the crucial 16 points – for an outright win – to their tally when they resumed their innings on 70 for three on Tuesday morning. Led by Salman Ali Agha’s valiant 42 not out, they completed the task inside the morning session.

Saif Badar and Umar Siddiq built on the repair work they did last evening when Balochistan, led by Yasir Shah, reduced them to 39 for three in pursuit of 154. The pair added 24 runs to their 55-run stand for the fourth wicket as Saif scored 37 and Umar, the wicketkeeper-batsman, made 22.

Imran Rafiq, who recorded an unbeaten half-century in the first innings, was dismissed by Taj Wali on eight. Khurram Shahzad and Yasir, who finished the innings with three wickets for 55 runs after recording a five-wicket haul in the first innings, took the other two wickets.

With Balochistan gaining momentum after Southern Punjab lost their fifth and sixth wickets for 11 runs, Salman pushed the bowlers back as he played his strokes freely and hit seven boundaries.

Over the course of his undefeated 53-ball stay, the 26-year-old stitched a remarkable 31-run stand with Zahid Mehmood in which runs came from the former’s bat as the latter returned not out on nought after facing 22 balls.

Southern Punjab have now accumulated 50 points from two matches. This win earned them 22 points (16 for outright win, three for batting and three for bowling), while Balochistan added seven (four for batting and three for bowling).

In the next round, Southern Punjab play Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the National Bank Sports Complex. Balochistan stay at the National Stadium to take on title defenders Central Punjab.

Sindh’s Ashiq Ali recorded his second five-wicket haul of the match and his first-class career as his side’s second round fixture against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ended in a draw at the UBL Sports Complex.

The off-spinner took six wickets for 33 runs in 19.4 overs to finish with the match figures of 11 for 127. His scalps in the innings included top-scorer Adil Amin (38), Israrullah (eight), Ashfaq Ahmed (nine), Kamran Ghulam (12), Rehan Afridi (two) and Sajid Khan (0).

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were set a 289-run target and were 96 for seven in 45.4 overs when stumps were drawn on the last of the four-day contest. Left-arm orthodox Mohammad Asghar was the other bowler to take a wicket.

Earlier, Asad Shafiq scored his career’s 50th first-class half-century with an unbeaten 72. The right-handed Test batsman started the day at nine not out. His 130-ball innings was studded with six fours and a six.

All-rounder Hasan Mohsin scored 33 and Sohail Khan made 21 not out as Sindh declared at 234 for seven after resuming the day at 74 for three.

Both teams bagged five points for the drawn game. Overall, Sindh gained 10 points (which include two batting and three bowling) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa pocketed nine points (which include two for batting and two for bowling).

Sindh, for their next round fixture against Northern, who beat Central Punjab yesterday, will stay at the UBL Sports Complex.

cricketer participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy has tested positive Covid-19.

According to sources, the unnamed player was immediately removed from the squad to observe self-isolation.

As per the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) protocols, players of team will be re-tested for the virus.

Sources have also said that the affected player was not a national player.

The PCB will be releasing more details in due time.

Covid-19 tests update

• A total of 1,478 tests have been conducted to date, including 1,091 in the domestic events

Karachi, 4 November 2020:

All 132 players, players support personnel and match officials taking part in the first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020-21 have tested negative for Covid-19 and, as such, they have been declared fit to feature in the third round action, which commences on Friday, 6 November.

As per the PCB Covid-19 Protocols, tests on all the participants were conducted on Tuesday afternoon after an individual had tested positive on Tuesday. Following the result, the individual was shifted to a dedicated isolation room within the team hotel and the PCB-appointed doctors are monitoring his progress.

PCB Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan: “Like any ongoing professional sport, Covid-19 and cricket also has to co-exist until such time that an effective vaccine is developed. Keeping this in view, as well as the future of Pakistan cricket and wellbeing of cricketers, the PCB has put in place robust Covid-19 Protocols. These protocols are very closely aligned to international standards and global sport events that will ensure event continuity without compromising the health and safety of the participants.

“The PCB understands domestic cricket is being played under difficult circumstances and fully appreciates the support of all involved, it is also appropriate that we remind all involved to religiously follow the PCB Covid-19 Protocols, which will guarantee their health and safety as well as all those around them.”

Following the conclusion of the third round first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches, the event will take an 11-day break during which the remaining four matches of the HBL Pakistan Super league 2020 will be played in Karachi on 14, 15 and 17 November.

The PCB Covid-19 Protocols, developed by the PCB Medical and Sport Sciences department and being implemented by the cricket logistics department, includes dedicated four and five-star accommodation for the participants with game and meeting rooms, separate dining areas, dedicated and sanitised team buses, and fully sanitised player changing rooms.

Furthermore, the PCB Medical and Sport Sciences department has conducted a total of 1,091 tests on domestic players, players support personnel and officials since the start of the season on 28 September with the Second XI National T20 Cup.

The following is the breakdown of these tests (includes players and players support personnel):

National T20 Cup (First & Second XI) - 414
Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (four-day & three-day) - 260
National U19 One-Day Tournament - 252
Women’s High Performance Camp - 75
Match officials - 90

On the international front, 92 tests were conducted on the Pakistan and Zimbabwe cricket sides, while another 295 tests have been conducted to date on the other event-related staff.

They didn't paid much attention to pitches this year and as a result both 1st XI and 2nd XI matches are low scoring contest.
