FATA stun Lahore Blues on day three​


FATA stunned Lahore Blues on the third day of the fifth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy as they won by six wickets chasing the 178-run target in 46.2 overs at the Gohati Cricket Stadium, Swabi.

Lahore Blues were bundled out for 120 in 31.4 overs in the second innings after continuing from their overnight score of 119-8. FATA’s Mohammad Usman struck unbeaten half-century and also partnered with Azaz Khan for an unfinished 78-run fifth-wicket partnership in successful chase. Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas’ match haul of 10-74 went in vain.

At Marghzar Cricket Ground, Lahore Whites romped to an eight-wicket win over Larkana after they chased down the 123-run target in 15.5 overs on day three. Opening batter Imran Dogar starred with an unbeaten 50-ball 78 hitting 12 fours and three sixes. Earlier in the day, Larkana continued from their overnight score of 129-4 with a seven-run deficit and they managed 258 all out. Ubaid Shah picked up three wickets, finishing with a match haul of 11-152.

Multan beat Azad Jammu and Kashmir by an innings and 112 runs at Ashfaq Cricket Ground Sirdheri, Charsadda. Multan’s Mohammad Ismail picked up 5-62 to bundle out AJK for 168 in 55 overs, after they began the day with 18 for no loss in their second innings and a deficit of 262 runs. Quetta also thrashed DM Jamali by an innings and 125 runs at the Railway Cricket Ground, Haripur. Earlier, Quetta finished their first innings for 438 all out, with Bismillah Khan remaining unbeaten for 166, having continued from overnight score of 402-7. DM Jamali’s Danish Aziz bagged 7-114. DM Jamali couldn’t overcome the 294-run first innings deficit as they were bundled out for 169 in 49.1 overs.

Abbottabad had extended their overnight 13-run second innings lead to 340 as they closed the day with 365-9 at Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Mohammad Arif (96, 133b, 12x4s), Khayam Khan (63, 94b, 7x4s, 1x6) and Shahab Khan (57 not out, 6x4s, 2x6s) hit valuable half-centuries while Bahawalpur’s Shehryar Baloch picked up 5-86.

Elsewhere, at National Ground, Faisalabad were only three wickets away from victory at the close of play on day three as they had reduced Islamabad to 136-7, who required 260 more runs to win. Earlier, Musa Khan’s fourth consecutive first-class five-fer triggered a batting collapse as Faisalabad went from overnight score of 238-2 to 346 all out. At Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Bahawalpur set a 301-run target for Karachi Whites, who finished the day with seven for no loss. Earlier, half-centuries from Ali Hamza Wasim, Mohammad Sheharyar and Abid Ali took Bahawalpur to 266 all out in their second innings. Peshawar have set a 241-run target for Rawalpindi, who in turn were 19-2 at stumps on day three. Earlier, Rawalpindi fell for 348 all out, continuing from overnight score of 308-6 and conceded a 45-run first innings deficit. Mehran Mumtaz took his third first-class five-fer (5-85) to bundle out Peshawar for 195 in second innings with Maaz Sadaqat top-scoring with 85. Karachi Blues’ Saifullah Bangash smashed a brilliant century (103 not out, 143b, 16x4s) to help his team overcome 126-run first innings deficit against Sialkot, closing the day with 95-run second innings lead and 220-9 on the board. Earlier, Sialkot posted 297 in response to Karachi’s 171. Tabish Khan bagged seven wickets for Karachi Blues. In turn, Karachi Blues were reduced to 112-9, but Saifullah partnered with Mohammad Hamza to put on a fighting 108-run tenth-wicket stand.

Lahore Whites, Peshawar, Sialkot qualify for triangular stage​


At the completion of the five rounds and 45 matches of the 18-team Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25, three teams, Lahore Whites, Peshawar and Sialkot from Group A, B and C, respectively have qualified for the triangular stage of the first-class tournament.

The single-league triangular stage of the QeA Trophy is set to begin on 25 November with Peshawar and Sialkot taking on each other followed by Lahore Whites facing Peshawar from 1 December at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. The third and last fixture of the triangular stage will be played between Lahore Whites and Sialkot from 27-30 December, while the final is set to be staged from 2-6 January 2025. The venue for the last triangular fixture and the final will be announced in due course.

Peshawar qualified for the triangular stage on the back of heroic bowling effort on day four against Rawalpindi to win by only 26 runs at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Requiring 241 runs to win the game and qualify for next stage, Rawalpindi began their day from overnight score of 19-2 and were bundled out for 214 in 64.3 overs as Umar Amin’s 129-ball 65-run effort went in vain. He partnered with Taimur Khan (42, 70b, 5x4s, 1x6) to take Rawalpindi from 97-5 to 172-6 before they slipped to 196-9. Peshawar’s Maaz Sadaqat and Niaz Khan picked up three wickets each in six and 13.3 overs, respectively. Skipper Sajid Khan snapped two scalps.

Sialkot, who topped the Group C, beat Karachi Blues by eight wickets at Mirpur Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. Sialkot chased the 99-run target in 18.5 overs. Earlier, Sialkot wrapped up the Karachi Blues innings for 224 after they bagan from overnight score of 220-9. Test fast bowler Mohammad Ali completed his ninth first-class five-fer taking his tally of match wickets to nine.

Elsewhere, Faisalabad beat Islamabad by 247 runs at National Ground Islamabad. Faisalabad took only 2.5 overs to snap the remaining three Islamabad wickets, who had resumed from overnight score of 136-7, bundling them out for 148 in 40.5 overs. Faisalabad’s Asad Raza and Shehzad Gul picked up four wickets each taking their match tally to eight and seven wickets, respectively. At Diamond Cricket Ground, Abbottabad beat Hyderabad by 249 runs. Hyderabad were bundled out for 95 in 27.4 overs chasing 345 as Aftab Ahmed picked 5-34 in 6.4 overs. Bahawalpur romped to a 198-run win over Karachi Whites who were dismissed for a mere 102 in pursuit of 301 runs. Bahawalpur’s Mehran Sanwal snapped 5-22 in 6.3 overs.

If someone says their numbers this season aren't too bad - please check their overall FC stats. There's no attempt to even hide the corruption in our FC setup.

Musa Khan topped the wicket-taking charts in this year's Quaid-e-Azam Trophy after the group stage, Mohammad Abbas is a close second sharing it with newcomer Mehran Sanwal.

Mushtaq Ahmed Kalhoro from Larkana took 4 5-fers in this tournament as well.

Apart from the top wicket-taker of the tournament Musa Khan, Waseem Akram Jr, Mohammad Salman and Mohammad Adil also took wickets at brilliant averages.

Youngster Mohammad Ismail, who rose to fame in PJL, took three 5-fers.

Adil , Ubaid and Salman are really good prospect with good pace and bounce and both way movement Awais Anwar not in the list but he is also a good prospect, they are definitely better than trundlers we are producing lately. It's good to see that more talented pacers unearthed this season instead of trundlers in previous years.
 
Gulfam Aziz is also a good bowler who seams the ball both ways at 130-135k. A bit like M.Abbas.

Seam bowlers in the range of 130-135k can actually become world class if they are deadly accurate and can extract seam movement on any surface.
 
M.Ismail and M.Amir Khan both are 140k+ bowlers but Amir is very wayward and doesn't get much movement , Ismail get outswing but is too short to be successful.

Awais Zafar seems to have something about him , he can play pace and movement really well , really man handled Musa Khan in his last innings who is the top wicket taker this season. Awais looks more like Indian batter who plays with confidence and authority and flair in his shots , even though he is not doing much this season due to horrible pitches but I really liked his last innings , probably the best innings in the whole Quaid Trophy for me.

He looked so assured and in command in all of his shot and hit so many pull shots for 4s.

On the first day of the first match of the tri-party phase of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the Peshawar team was bowled out for 171 runs in the first innings due to the excellent performance of the Sialkot bowlers.

Sialkot had a productive day against Peshawar after they closed the first day with 74 runs on the board in 20.3 overs before bowling them out for 171 at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Abbottabad

After Peshawar opted to bat first, only No.4 batter, Ubaidullah (35, 44b, 8x4s) managed to cross 30-run mark as wickets tumbled regularly. Peshawar had lost half their side for 93 runs before the last five wickets added 78 runs combined.

Test fast bowler Mohammad Ali returned figures of 16.1-7-35-4, while he was backed up by former Pakistan U19 pacer Awais Ali who also snapped four wickets for 73 runs in 15 overs. Shoaib Akhtar picked up two wickets.

In turn, Sialkot’s opening batters, Azan Awais (38 not out, 63b, 6x4s) and Ashir Mehmood (31 not out, 61b, 5x4s) put on unbeaten 74 runs in 20.3 overs when the stumps were drawn early due to bad light. Sialkot will begin the day two with a 97-run first innings deficit and ten wickets in hand.

How stupid. So 2 teams play, one chills and waits forever to play their opponent.

Could have just done top 6 teams, 2 divisions and division toppers after group matches play in the final. At the end of the day, this domestic tournament isn't about which random team full of no-names are crowned champions, it's about development and the players need quality FC cricket to develop.

15 out of 18 teams ended up playing a whopping 5 matches in the FC season. So basically if you were injured for a month, your FC season is over or if you got selected for an international tour like Minhas who got selected, sat on bench and doesn't get to end up playing FC season either - what little PCB had scheduled. When he inevitably goes through international struggles, fans will say how he doesn't play FC or care about it when the scheduling is beyond pathetic.

I don't understand this whole setup of games from PCB. It is pretty confusing.
 
Musa should be inducted in Shaheen team as he has improved quiet alot this season bowling rapidly at hard length and also seaming the ball away and on fuller length he is swinging the ball both ways , pretty sure it's all because of the conditions and underprepared wicket but still hitting hard lengths with high pace is alone enough to be excited for. Plus he has become highly accurate as well this season.

Azan Awais is on par with Haseebullah Khan talent wise , timid batter who likes to use pace of the bowler and afraid of getting out with no dominating shots either and love getting tons for fun against average bowlers , at least Azan can play short pitch stuff better than Haseebullah who is a complete dud against anything short at 135k+.

The latest one to join the leagues are Shahzaib and Usman Khan from U19 who are also similar players , They all graduated from Imam ul Haq academy for nurdlers.
 

Azan's career-best knock puts Sialkot in driving seat​


Promising opener Azan Awais played a career-best knock to put Sialkot in a commanding position against Peshawar at the close of play on day two of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy triangular stage match at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 38 not out with Sialkot on 74 for no loss in reply to Peshawar’s 171, the 20-year-old left-handed batter remained unbeaten on 161 as Sialkot reached 319 for six. This has given Sialkot a lead of 148 runs with four wickets in hand.

Azan, a former Pakistan U19 batter playing in just his sixth first-class match, has so far faced 312 balls in his fluent knock, laced with 23 boundaries. He reached his century off 198 balls, hitting 14 fours along the way. His previous highest score was 130, achieved against Dera Murad Jamali earlier this month.

Azan anchored two crucial partnerships that shifted the momentum in Sialkot’s favor. After a solid 78-run opening stand with Ashir Mehmood (31), Azan stitched together a 140-run third-wicket partnership with Mohsin Riaz. Mohsin contributed a well-made 64 off 122 balls, hitting eight fours and a six before his dismissal.

Abdul Rehman was the other notable Sialkot batter, scoring 28 and contributing 48 runs for the second wicket with Azan.
For Peshawar, Mohammad Amir Khan was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 34-4-116-4.

Azan Awais carries bat for 203 as Sialkot trounce Peshawar​


Azan Awais surpassed the 500-run milestone in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on his way to registering a maiden double-century as Sialkot defeated Peshawar by an innings and 57 runs with a day to spare in their triangular stage match at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Azan carried his bat for an unbeaten 203 after resuming the third day’s play at 161. Sialkot were eventually bowled out for 410, having started the day at 319 for six and adding another 91 runs to their overnight total in reply to Peshawar’s 171.

Trailing by 239 runs on the first innings, Peshawar were routed for 182 with fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar proving to be the wrecker-in-chief with figures of six for 51. This gave him match figures of eight for 101. Mohammad Ali also used the conditions to his advantage by following up his four for 35 with three for 43.

For Peshawar, Sajjad Ibraheem (42) and Niaz Khan (35) offered some resistance.

Azan, the 20-year-old opener batted for just over nine-and-a-half hours, facing 407 deliveries and striking 27 fours. Azan’s remarkable performance took his tournament tally to 518 runs, placing him second only to Multan’s Imam-ul-Haq, who has 635 runs. With Multan not participating in the triangular series, Azan has an excellent chance to finish as the leading run-scorer of the competition.

Azan’s innings featured three noteworthy partnerships on Wednesday. On Thursday, he added another 60 runs for the seventh wicket with Usama Mir, who contributed 29 off 57 balls, including five fours. Later, he put on 40 runs for the eighth wicket with Mohammad Ali (16) to further consolidated Sialkot’s advantage.

Mohammad Amir Khan was the standout bowler for Peshawar, claiming his second five-wicket haul of the tournament. He added the scalps of last man Shoaib Akhtar to return figures of 40.1-4-141-5, taking his tally to 26 wickets in the event. This places him in joint-third among the leading wicket-takers, alongside Lahore Whites’ Ahmed Bashir. Islamabad’s Musa Khan leads the charts with 38 wickets, followed by Lahore Blues’ Mohammad Abbas and Bahawalpur’s Mehran Sanwal, who have 31 wickets each.

Israrullah and Niaz Khan chipped in with two wickets apiece, conceding five and 101 runs, respectively.

Few months ago, Sirajuddin was at NCA and clocked at 150k and after that he was directly included in champions cup and inducted in quaid trophy and Shaheen side , good work keep it up bro.
 
Nice to see Naseem playing a FC match in preparation for the SA Tests. T20's vs SA begin shortly too and with this match and short turn around to go to SA for the tour, it might suggest he's not on the T20 squad vs SA - which I think would be good because there is literally zero reason for Naseem to play T20 right now & T20 WC is so far away. He'll be in the squad for ODI's and Tests and hopefully he can come good there.

Peshawar’s skipper Sajid Khan bagged his 16th five-wicket haul as Peshawar took a 116-run first innings lead over Lahore Whites on day two of the second triangular stage fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Peshawar managed to add 39 runs to their overnight score of 293-7 as they were bundled out for 332 in 72 overs. In turn, Sajid’s 5-56, Mir Hamza’s 3-58 and Niaz Khan’s 2-36 helped Peshawar restrict Lahore Whites 216 all out in 56.3 overs. Peshawar slipped to 14-3 as stumps were drawn on day two as Naseem Shah took two wickets in three overs for just one run.

Earlier in the day, Sajid, continuing from his overnight score of 11 helped his team add valuable runs as he finished with 43 off 76 balls including seven fours. Lahore Whites lost their top three batters to pacers Mir Hamza and Niaz Khan as wickets tumbled at regular intervals.

No.5 batter, Obaid Shahid, who walked in to bat with 45-3 on the board, struck 11 fours in his imposing 75 off 105 balls. Skipper Saad Nasim hit four sixes and one four in his 22-ball 36. Sajid’s five wickets came in 17 overs with one maiden.

Peshawar’s start to the second innings was jolted by Naseem, who removed first innings performer Maaz Sadaqat for a three-ball duck and then pinned Ubaidullah for a three-ball one. Ahmed Bashir took the third wicket as Peshawar closed the day with a 130-run second innings lead and seven wickets in the bag.

Nabi Gul (11 n0t out, 16b, 2x4s) and Sajjad Ibraheem (1 not out, 9b) will be on the crease for Peshawar when they resume their second innings on day three.

Peshawar stun Lahore Whites to win crucial game​


Peshawar beat Lahore Whites by 125 runs on day three of the second triangular stage fixture of the Quaid trophy to register a crucial victory at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium in Abbottabad.

Chasing a 257-run target, Lahore Whites were bundled out for 131 in 23.3 overs as Sajid Khan’s fourth first-class ten-wicket match haul helped his team stay in contention for the final of the tournament. Lahore Whites’ captain Saad Nasim resisted with a 62-ball 56 laced with eight fours and one six but in vain.

Pacers Niaz Khan (3-24) and Mir Hamza (2-38) shared five wickets before Sajid (5-43) took just 6.3 overs to register his 17th first-class five-for and second of the match.

Earlier in the day, Peshawar continued from their overnight score of 14-3 and were dismissed for 141 in 40 overs with No.5 batter Nabi Gul remaining unbeaten for a vital 83 off 138 balls including 12 fours. Lahore Whites’ pacers Mohammad Salman (3-31), Ahmed Bashir (2-29), Naseem Shah (2-30), Ubaid Shah (2-44) shared the ten wickets among them.

Peshawar’s first innings lead of 115 runs came in handy as they managed to set a sizable target of 257 runs. The third and last match of the triangular stage will be played from 27-30 December between Lahore Whites and Sialkot.

Sialkot sit on top of the triangular stage points table with 27 points while Peshawar are second with 25. Lahore Whites, with one match left, have four points to their name and will have a chance to stake a claim in the final when they take on Sialkot as the tournament resumes on 27 December.

And these guys were struggling to get into the playing 11 when we had 6 teams. Truly awful state of affairs when these guys are topping with such averages.
 
Good to see Nabi Gul get some runs.

He’s at an age where he needs to be playing regular domestic cricket as well as gaining consistency.
