Quality of bowling in PSL is definitely superior to IPL

I dont think anyone is saying that batting in PSL is better than in IPL. PSL didnt have many big names when it comes to batting so its obvious that from the average lot which was available, only average top scorers would come out. Who do you think was a great t20 batsman in PSL? There is hardly any big name. Play averagely talented batsmen, get averagely talented top scorers.

However, when it comes to bowling its a different ball game altogether and you can only gauge that by looking at the bowling in action, not just at the stats.

stats are just one aspect to judge stuff on yes but there barring 3-4 good pak int players the bowling as a whole is average, Local Indian u19's are better than likes of samit Patel let alone in comparison to the international talent on display in IPL.

Mate! Why are you getting personal now? If you have points to argue, agree to disagree or counter it with your own views but your words of sympathy show how offended you are and would appreciate if you can stop getting personal and stick to the topic of discussion.

There was a solid counterpoint in there! And those words of sympathy were heartfelt and genuine. I’m not trolling or fishing for irony. However, this may not be the medium for such honesty, so I will refrain

Kindly mention how many Indian "fast" bowlers bowling in IPL are better than Rahat, sami and wahab? Are you talking about the Unadkats or thakurs? Just because the aforementioned Pakistani bowlers arent good enough to play international cricket for Pakistan doesnt mean they are inferior to Indian trundlers who get smashed time and time again at every level.

Bopara is a non-entity when it comes to bowling now so i dont know why you are even mentioning him. Samit patel did well but he is playing as an all rounder, not a frontline bowler similar to sammy.

Some of the local bowlers of Pakistan were Shaheen shah afridi, Ibtisam sheikh, zafar gohar, umaid asif, sameen gul, Mohammad irfan jr. Etc. Let us know which of India's vinay kumars, unadkats, thakurs etc. or any other local bowlers are better than them.

Quality of overseas bowlers is better in IPL but some of the players like johnson are playing on reputation alone. Obviously more money has a lot to do with it because bowlers, especially fast bowlers have to choose these leagues carefully and preserve themselves for the ones paying most money.

But isn't that the proof that IPL is better than PSL in terms of bowling. When your talent gets spread over 8 or so teams other than the top 3-4 everyone is clearly seen as average that is where the overseas talent comes into picture, PSL has very little to show on that front thus as a whole their bowling is not good as IPL's let alone being better than IPL's.

If Pakistan were remotely as good at bowling as their supporters like to think, they'd have achieved something in international cricket. Their so-called Akram incarnate averages a laughable 40 in tests since his comeback, worse than Ishant during the same period. Their team has the worst win-loss ratio in the last decade. Good for them they managed to snag a win at CT because the record in ODIs is as depressing. I mean I'd be suicidal if I were a Pak fan.

And no, random domestic trundlers from Pak I don't care to remember aren't better than Shardul and Unadkut.

There’s a difference in preferences too. While Indians usually prefer high scoring games (170-190 run chases), Pakistanis like 100-120 runs battles where there is a good balance between bat and ball. Both PSL and IPL cater to different audiences.

Low Scoring games doesn't mean Good Balance between Bat and Ball..its a myth

Pakistan's top ranked Test Bowler is Wahab Riaz at #25.

Pakistan doesn't have a Top-30 Bowler in ODIs except Hasan Ali.

Yet somehow, PSL gives Pakistan 3 world class bowlers in every side. Don't make me laugh. :)))

Pakistan pacers are better than Indian pacers in general, so not surprising to see bowling standards better in PSL

There is no need to feel ashamed in accepting the truth.

The PSL's LOCAL bowling talent is better than IPL's LOCAL bowling talent and IPL's LOCAL batting talent is better than PSL's LOCAL batting talent.

I don't see why is this even a shock, as it's always been this way. India having the better batting talent and Pakistan the better bowling talent.

Firstly, Rahat and Wahab are frontline bowlers for Pakistan. Why are you comparing them to the likes of Unadkat and Thakur? India's frontline bowlers (Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar, Shami etc.) are better than all of Pakistan's frontline bowlers except for Amir and Hasan, but even that is debatable.

Sami is a hero in the PSL but that is because of the pathetic standard of batting. He is unlikely to fare well in the IPL. Guys like him, Rahat and Wahab would probably not even get IPL contracts, and you are using them to prove that the quality of bowling in the PSL is better.

The likes of Umaid, Irfan junior, Sameen etc. are no better than the likes of Unadkat and Thakur. They will flop in the IPL considering the standard of batting there. Similarly, Unadkat, Thakur etc. will do well in the PSL - a league of minnow standard batting.

Spinners like Ibtisam, Gohar etc. are worth dime a dozen in the IPL. Every season, a couple of exciting spinners emerge in the IPL. It has been two days only, and that young leg-spinner from MI has started to make an impression.

The difference is that since the talent pool of the IPL is very vast and there are lot of high quality overseas players, it is difficult for the local players to stand out. Someone like Ibtisam would probably not even get an IPL contract.

Shaheen Afridi is a very exciting prospect, but India have exciting prospects in the same age group too, which we saw in the U-19 World Cup. However, as I stated previously, it is more difficult for those bowlers to get games in the IPL because of the high competition.

If Shaheen Afridi would have been in India, he would have not managed to break into the Indian team yet. Similarly, the U-19 pacers that we saw play for India would have played games in the PSL by now if they were Pakistani.

The quality of bowling in the IPL is better than the PSL. In terms of local bowlers, it is pretty much even. However, there is no comparison when we factor in the foreign bowlers. The only reason the bowling looks better in the PSL is because of the massive gulf in batting standards.

The Unadkats and Thakurs are on par with the likes of Anwar Ali. Pure cannon fodder.

Garbage bowlers still got smashed in PSL. It’s not like they escaped with amazing economy.

Guys like Wahab, Sami have always been decent T20 bowlers. Sami is a mental midget and Wahab has been used incorrectly over the years imo.

The local pace bowling talent is better in PSL... Umaid, Sameen etc are better than guys like Mohit Sharma, Vinay Kumar and Umesh Yadav.

IPl definitely has better spinners which is no surprise as Indian spinners > Pakistani spinners.

As for pacers - IPL overseas > PSL overseas since there are hardly any foreign ones in the PSL.

As for Pakistani pacers v Indian pacers in their respective leagues it is a close one and tough to conclude because of firstly the difference in batting standards between PSL and IPL and secondly the difference in batting conditions and ground sizes. The ball doesn't come on to the bat in UAE and grounds are far larger making life a lot more difficult for the batsmen.

Having said all that I feel top Pakistani pace bowlers like Hassan and Amir are better than the likes of Kumar, Bumrah and Shami. Also Pakistan's bowling culture and mindset has always been superior and far better at executing their plans. They handle pressure far better whether it be the need for wickets or restricting opposition. Yes the batting standards aren't the best in PSL but I feel some of the top bowlers would raise their game further against elite level batsmen like Kohli, AB and etc.

Obviously it's not shocking though. Wahab was best bowler in the PSL by far. He was excellent in all the matches except one or two he bowled consistently at 145ks. He bowled yorkers consistenly in death overs. No IPL bowler is going to match him. I m pretty damn sure about that. Most of the runs against him came by edges flying over the wicketkeeper and third man area. He was menacing, strong and fit. He even clocked 154ks.

Even if we agree that the local bowling talent in the PSL is somewhat better than the local bowling talent in the IPL, the fact is that the PSL has ZERO world class overseas pacers.

Starc, Boult, Rabada, Steyn, Cummins, Hazlewood etc. all play in the IPL. Some of them are not playing in this particular edition due to various reasons, but they have played in the IPL in the past and will play in the future.

Our local bowlers are not some ATGs who can make up for the absence of these elite international bowlers. Unless the PSL can get hands on the aforementioned world class bowlers, the notion that PSL bowling > IPL bowling is nonsense.

Sameen, umaid etc are way better then the likes of unadkat etc. Can you name better lerft arm spinners then gohar other then jadega. There must be a lot since they are worth dime dozens in ipl. Yes if Shaheen wouldn't have made it to India since legands like thakur and unadkat are legaues above him. Sometimes you need to take off your Indian glasses and post without any bias.

Have you forgotten what happened to this same Wahab when he bowled against Indians (the batsmen that IPL bowlers have to handle). Many thought his career was ended by Kohli, Dhawan and Pandya.

For all the mocking Unadkat gets, he has a better T20 average than Wahab and is almost at par with Amir! Mock him as much as you want to but in his T20 career, he's been quite decent with his cutters etc.

Unadkat took 24 wickets at 13.5 with a ER of 7.05 in a league supposedly played on flat pattas where 175-180 is a norm! He may get destroyed this edition or in international cricket, but the stats suggest he is a very good T20 bowler.

The same Wahab took a fifer against India in 2011, Hasan Ali who was bashed in the PSL final was MoS in the CT. One swallow does not make a summer

Who cares what he did 7 years ago how does it matter today?

People are missing the fundamental point here.

IPL is about entertainment, not quality. When a tail-ender is hitting a 17 ball 50 in the IPL, you know it's all about entertainment.

Low scoring games are not part of the IPL package, but high scores, and scripted comebacks are!

Very funny range. It is like in every over 143,128,141,128 , 140, 128. No in between
The slower ones may be deliberate.....or he will not be having smooth action..its good he is clocking 140...CI shows his age above 26 which is not a good sign though.ideally i will like a 21 or 20 years old doing it.

Check Washington Sundar and kuldeep Yadav's international t-20 figures and check Patel's, you will see what I am saying. If samit Patel entered ipl auction no one will buy him. He is a rubbish player.

It's not bias, I wasn't talking about shadab Khan or yasir shah who can actually be considered to be good. PSL's overseas talent is laughable, don't take it personally but that is how it is.

Andre Russel 90 off 36 deliveries today.

He's good but not THAT good.

I think Shaheen Shah Afridi is an exceptional and probably better than anyone we have here potential wise but otherwise the local talent is quite comparable on both sides I think.

What quality does PSL have? Sorry to bust your bubble but don't know how long this vetran cricket will exist, were all the ex patriot ,discarded and TTF are playing. ***** bowler bowling to all crap batsmen and thinking they are ATG what happened in nz to all the atg.

What happened in NZ is that we beat them 2-1 a feat that no other Asian side has achieved. We also scored 200 and 180 against them.

What an own goal by this chest thumper :yk

Nevermind it seems Pakistanis are more interested in ipl than indian, every day one new tread is created and you guys are keeping it active through out the day, dint see many indian posting on psl thread. That itself shows how famous ipl is.

1. PSL and IPL are T20 leagues, and Pak beat NZ in the T20 series. How do ODIs come in it?

2. 90% of posters on the IPL threads are Indians

3. Hardly any Pakistani is watching the IPL

4. The one channel that airs it in Pakistan is banned in many areas at the moment for other reasons

Cut the chase guys, the local Pak bowlers played in the PSL are definitely better than the IPL local indian bowlers , Not bother answering about overall bowling quailty cause its bluntly apparent.

I am not a fan of T20 mercenary leagues. I am posting in English, should I post in Punjabi/Urdu?

If you think IPL is quality then you need help, or your standards of quality are low.

Now I bet you do not have a come back considering I do not rate the PSL either.

That's how weak and insecure IPL apologist are. Impressed by fair and lovely cheerleaders, and the odd fireworks!

Vinay 'The Malcolm Marshal Vol 2.0' freaking Kumar

1.5 overs, 35 runs.

Chennai chases 200+ down with ease. lol What a farce!

SSA would have been among the top wicket takers in IPL. Apart from being exceptionally talented he also is new so batsmen haven't found him out yet. Would have been a great pick.

Im shocked at lack of quality of ipl bowling. I think batting is on par or not much difference with psl

PSL has on par batting? Lol.

Tom Curran Narine Kuldeep Russel they are very good international class bowlers.

Except RR, most teams will field 7-8 or even more international class players including ATGs, potential ATGs, World class players.

None of their batting line up has anyon3 who can hold the bat after 5 or 6. Once they lose 3 or 4 wickets, they give up chasing 150 + score, that too in that packet size ground( Boundaries pulled it up to 30 yard circle.)

Yes batting is on par with IPL.

i think quality in psl was realy good. may be psl batting hidden behind good bowling. i am sure Bravo and Russell was not allowed to make big score by psl bowler

I don't think the quality of bowling is that superior. Statistically, yes, but it is mainly due to slow boring pitches, where it is hard to score off bowlers, fast bowlers especially. The pitches used in IPL are ideal for T20 cricket, we need such pitches for PSL, or our bowlers will keep on improving their statistics :D

Yet continuously posting in IPL threads. Care to check many of the IPL thread was started by Pakistanis. Anyway I know u guys are going to get sleepless night for another one no half month as you guys dont not have anyone to play with. We are loving the burn served to all the butt heart pprs poster.

Good to see some indians still bitter about kami atg centuries against them. At least he's a wicket keeper Batsmen unlike tailender narine who smashing it to all parts.

After they got tired of whitewashing your team, they rested their players. Nothing to gloat about.

We after thrashing S.A. in ODI and T20, we are not jumping up and down like you guys.

You only care about WC.

Stop pretending otherwise.

PSL bowlers have a little bit of upper hand in terms of bowling quality at the moment. But this is also affected by the lack of good batsmen & hitters, sluggish pitches of UAE and having 6 teams.

But Indian good bowling pool is not big enough. Had IPL have only 6 teams then the bowling would be much better. Also the pitches are conducive to strokes play and its a shame that despite big quite a bigger country than Pakistan, Indian fast bowling pool is quite limited.

I will give PSL bowlers only a bit of upper hand at the moment. But bowling in IPL can't be said bad due to these T20 pitches.

For that you have to see fast bowlers developing and dominating which i am sure you have never seen from india post Kapil.

Those jokes are old doc. Get up to speed with latest news. Even U19 team has couple of 90 mph fast bowlers. Indian fast bowlers making SA batsmen dancing to their tune/ chin music. Batsmen were scared and wanted to run away from the crease.

Though bowlers quality of IPL is not that special this year due to injuries to some quality bowlers like Rabada , Starc etc but IPL has never been about bowlers , it was always batsman centered due to Indian fans love for their batting legends.

Even if PSL has slightly good bowling quality , the overall experience of IPL is massive and unparallel , simply because it has all the best current cricketer of the world( barring Pakistan) .

Waw......then why did you not win the series....old joke naa.

How many series did your great phaaast bowlers win in SA? Poor response from you doc.

We all know we didnt bat well in first two games. Nothing wrong in our bowling in those two games. It was considered as missed opportunity as batting is our strength, with better preparation and better team selection we could have won. But no excuse for losing the series.

Both leagues have their own highs and lows . IPL is clearly no 1 league at the moment mainly due to the huge amount in circulation , resultantly better players at disposal .Psl is going very good and have done well as compared to other leagues barring IPL and BBL .i see no point of degrading each other’s league .
Pp is dominated now a days by new posters who have mostly knee jerk reactions and just want to respond to every thread/post logically or illogically .Quality of the posts has also gone down .

According to some of indian posters if pakistani odi bowling is that good then y they did not win bla bla ..that my response.but SSA is a bowler with immense potential and if you deny it i will say again you have to watch fast bowlers more and more

Can someone please make a thread on IPL bowling speeds for local players. A few Indian posters was chest thumping how every ranji team has aleast one 145+kph bowler. Fast bowling stocks are high in India no shortage of out and out pacers. So someone please do a thread and lay this myth to rest.

Why should i? It was Indian posters talking about how every ranji team has 145+kph bowlers (which we will see in IPL) in another thread refer to posts from Rightarmfast and a few others can't remember their names if in doubt look at the thread"jealous of Pakistani bowling in psl" which was created by a very level headed Indian poster. So someone kindly make a thread and burst some bubbles.
