Just looked at the IPL teams and sad to see some horrible trundlers like Unadkat, Mohit, Kulkarni, Thampi, Khaleel, Siraj, Kaul still among the top picks.

India's has two exceptional first choice bowlers - Bumrah and Shami. And a few decent options like Bhuvi, Chahar (is he in the same class though?), and .... ?? I'm sure I am missing some names..

But beyond that they always seem to be going back to the Kauls and Khaleels of the world.

What is the quality of the upcoming talent? Please don't mention perpetually injured players

Don't think Thampi and Siraj are trundlers, not following IPL and domestics for quite some time so I might be wrong though. What happened to Saini, Krishna, Mavi, Avesh, KM Asif? They all are playing this year, aren't they?

Following are above 140 k good quality pacers

Prasiddh krishna
Mavi
Nagarkotti
Porel
Tushar deshpande
Siraj
Thampi

With the fitness culture , most are maintaining speed and consistency . Don’t look at ipl alone - look at the ranji teams

Kerala
Tamil Nadu
Vidarbha
Karnataka

Above seem to have most decent pace

Up ( praveen kumar factory )
Baroda
Mumbai

Best swing bowlers from above states

Most countries have only about 4 or 5 international caliber bowlers.

India has Bumrah, Shami, Ishant, Bhuvi as their main bowlers.

Bowlers like Chahar are decent.

Mavi is too young. Prasidh Krishna is untested. Guys like Siraj, Unadkat, Thakur, Sran are all cannon fodder.

Only Australia can play their 2nd string bowling attack and still be world class.

Umesh is very good in Asian conditions.

Saini is very fast. Was clocking 150+ quite often in the last IPL.
Avesh is fast, Prasidh Krishna is fast.
Mavi and Nagarkoti are perpetually injured unfortunately though. Maybe one of them will do a Cummins.

porel has some wheels too.
india will.be fine for pace. Many pacers are there. Problem is skills. Question is if they can they bowl bouncers viciously, swing the ball both ways, slow ball, reverse swing the ball, bowl cutters etc.

Siraj has a good record in First Class Cricket and has done well in India A tours,
He should be selected as a reserve in test matches.

Deepak Chahar likely to be out of action till April 2020, hints MSK Prasad

Indian cricket team's chief selector, MSK Prasad said that Deepak Chahar will remain out of squad till April next year.

"I have my own doubts about Deepak Chahar till March-April," Prasad told reporters.

Chahar aggravated his back injury, which he picked up during the second One Day International played in Vizag on Wednesday.

According to Prasad, the Indian team has enough backups in all departments across all formats for seven years.

"We have enough back-ups ready across all formats across all disciplines so Indian cricket need not worry for 6-7 years," he said.

Prasad also spoke about Prithvi Shaw's comeback in the India A squads for the tour to New Zealand in January. Shaw has been in sublime touch since returning from an eight-month doping ban last month. The youngster made a spectacular double hundred in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy-opener against Baroda.

Though India have a settled opening pair in Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agawal, 20-year-old Shaw could make the Test squad for the New Zealand series as a reserve opener.

After picking the India A squad for the tour of New Zealand, selection committee chairman MSK Prasad made it clear that they want Shaw to get as much "game time as possible".

"He has just come back after a long layoff and we wanted him to play a few more matches. We will see where he stands. There is India A series coming off with five ODIs and two Test matches. There is a lot of cricket," he said.
