Rafatullah Mohmand - The man who can win the World T20 for Pakistan

Most of it was sarcasm, but it was also based on a domestic cup held quite a while back. :srini

The iftikhar and Imran Khan Jnr part seems sarcastic but the Rafatullah part doesn't.

Don't think you should have made such claims after one good tournament.

I don't care about Old Friends United anymore, so I'm happy for him because it is probably his final opportunity to make some good money.

Public Enemy no.1 = Islamabad United

Happy for Rafatullah though as can make some good money after playing in the domestic scene for a long time.

Islamabad United has no obligation to pick 19-20 year old's in their team to help Pakistan Cricket Team. The investors in Isb Utd want ROI and if they think a 40 year old is the player that can potentially play crucial innings for them, then there's nothing wrong with that. Also as with all decisions, there is also a chance this will backfire. But no risk, no return.

Knowing Inzi, chacha Riffat might be closer to making the CT squad than Haris, Amin, Aslam, Farhan etc

Inzi ne post match baatein khoob kee hein per amal k waqt defensive n mohtaat. Some very good points and policies he eluded to.

Bus officially 33 ko 35 kehna n dhudkaarna was really bad n unjust.

So the guy got a debut call @40 yrs in a T20 game? Busting all myths that T20 is a young man's game good job Mr. Rifatullah and good job Hawkeye spotting his potential..

Met Riffatullah today at a local Pakistani cricket league.

He’s a humble man, very down to Earth attitude.

Was taking selfies and mingling with local people.

Doesn’t deserve to be made fun of for something that wasn’t in his control

With all due respect to him, him making debut at the age of 40 in probably the headline of the mess our think tank created in the past decade.

Yeah he genuinely looked like a 34-35 years old and totally not like a 40 years old chacha.

Even if he is 40 years old, he is still very fit.

Heard he has been playing in Netherlands for last few years and could possibly become eligible for them in this year's WT20 which means he could play for them so maybe he could win the WT20 for Netherlands.

Yep, he’s been playing domestic cricket for a Dutch club.

The disastrous international experiment completely destroyed his career in Pakistan.

He was a highly respected domestic cricketer before England exposed him, after which the domestic teams simply lost faith in him.

He probably lost motivation as well. It is difficult to give your 100% when you realize that you are not good enough for the top level.

Is he still playing? or has he retired? This thread did not age well at all.

Rifatullah should get his pads on again - Haroon Rasheed is back as Chief Selector.

In case you're wondering - in a 3-0 T20 series whitewash defeat vs ENG in UAE in 2015, the think tank of then captain Shahid Afridi, coach Waqar Younis and CS Haroon Rasheed selected and debuted an official 39 years old Rifatullah.

His reflexes against pace were so slow I thought my stream was buffering.

Probably one of the worst players I have ever seen play for Pakistan.

His selection was on merit. The guy was scoring runs and was even bashing PCB for not selecting him. He was just under alot of pressure because he had talked alot agains PCB and when he got his cap he couldn't give a performance.

This guy was desperate and alot of people dont know this.

This guy was part of that infamous partnership with Aamer Sajjad in some first class game and yet he was never given any international game. He got ignored for PSL aswell untill Khalid LAtif and Sharjeel khan were spot fixing and they had no players and had to romp in Rifatullah.

This guy soo badly wanted to play international cricket that he almost made his debut with Afghanistan. I think it was in 2011 or 2015, him and ACB made a request to ICC that Rafatullah had family in Afghanistan so they wanted him to play international cricket with their team. He was even named in an Afghanistan squad, but ICC rejected the request..

THe guy deserved a Pakistan cap. And if he was not gonna get an odi or test cap at that age, a t20 cap was good enough so that he could get the label of being an international ex player. This ends up opening doors for you in a career towards coachig in cricket.
