Union home minister Amit Shah made a scathing attack on former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of indulging in “shallow politics”.

“We are fully capable of handling anti-India propaganda but it does pain when a former president of such a big political party does ‘ochhi rajiniti (shallow politics)’ at a time of problems,” Shah said in an interview to news agency ANI.

Gandhi has been leading the Congress attack on the face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed. He even accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of surrendering India’s territory to China using the words ‘Surender Modi’ for him on Twitter.

“It is a matter of self-introspection for him and Congress that his hashtag is being taken forward by Pakistan and China. It is not for me. It is a matter of concern for Congress that hashtag of their leader is being encouraged by Pakistan and China. You say what China and Pakistan like. And at this time of crisis,” said Shah.

He also said that the government is ready for discussion on the issue in Parliament. “There will be Parliament (session). If you want to discuss, we will. Let everything be discussed from 1962 to today. No one is afraid of discussion. But when the soldiers of the country are making efforts, the government is taking solid steps after taking a stand, at that time, making statements that please Pakistan and China should not be done,” said Shah.

He also took on Congress for not appointing anyone apart from the members of Gandhi family its president. “After Advaniji, Rajnathji, Nitinji, Rajnathji again, I became (party president) and now Naddaji. Is there a member of the same family? After Indiraji, tell me a Congress President who is outside the Gandhi family. What democracy they talk about?” said Shah.

Gandhi and the Congress party have been attacking the government since the June 15 skirmish. On Friday, Gandhi posted a video and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should tell “the truth” as several accounts were saying that China has made incursions in Eastern Ladakh.

His mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi accused the PM Modi-led central government of “mismanagement” which led to a full-blown crisis on the borders with China.

“True to its character, the government is in denial. The intrusion was detected and reported on May 5. Instead of a resolution, the situation deteriorated rapidly and there were violent clashes on June 15-16. Twenty Indian soldiers were martyred, 85 injured and 10 went ‘missing’ until they were returned,” she said at a virtual meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body.

Today again, the Congress party accused the government on Twitter of “giving in” to intruders.

I don't think Rahul Gandhi is pro-Pakistan or China but it is about time he developed some maturity. Being in the opposition, he has every right to criticise the government, but doing so carelessly when you have external aggression on your borders is definitely unacceptable. And then he talks rubbish about Indian soldiers going unarmed to the LAC without knowing that there is an agreement between India and China that states exactly this.

Fools are often mistaken to be traitors, and that's what is happening to RG now.

Doing a tremendous job as an opposition leader. Rahul Gandhi is too good of a human being to be in Indian politics however, that's what goes against him.

It would be so easy for Rahul Gandhi to say hell with these minorities i am all for beating them up every day, muslims twice on Sundays and just like that all the votes will go his way.

He just has to be a mysogynist like Modi and speak dirty about Modi's mother and that of other BJP people's mother's or about the women in BJP, people in India will find it amusing and would wanna vote for him.

Rahul Gandhi, just has to stop listening to experts, and rather follow u educated self proclaimed god men.

Rahul Gandhi just has to ignore science and talk non sense all day, promote cow urine consumption etc etc.

All of the above is so convenient, yet this guy speaks with respect, listens to experts, doesn't undermine science, why so naive?

A democratically elected leader is the true reflection of the society, we can hate Modi as much as we like, but he truly represents the majority of India. Small hearted, hateful, delusion and corrupt to the core.

We used to be known as uninteresting yet hard working and well grounded people and that's is the kind of leaders we used to vote to power.

As the psychology of 21st century Indians changed, so did the attitude of their elected government and leaders.

Why cant Congress put anyone else besides Gandhi or his family as the head of the party. What about someone like Shashi Tharoor?

he is asking the right question to smash the laughable official line being given by the army

about time some one inside India asks such questions so that the poor indian awaam doesnt have to believe every lie told to them whether it be 300 imaginary dead terrorists n pulwama or no chinese on indian territory

Not that, i dont know many Congress leaders, and he is one of the few i can name. Just dont get why one family gets a monopoly on the head of the party for almost 70 years. Really insulting to every other member of that party.

Exactly.

I too used to think why Congress doesn't back a charismatic intelligent guy like Tharoor but leadership isn't just about that.

He can contribute effectively but he's too hi-fi to connect with the masses.

RaGa might not have the overwhelming majority of war mongering muslim hating middle class Indians behind him but he's quite a hero among the poor, minorities and women. Women because they are not victim of small man inferiority complex that majority of Indian men possess, making them tilt to a 56 inch chest (gross) minority basher.

The circle that i keep regard Rahul as a very nice chap.

There's always a lot of media created noise which is not everything. Modi is shown way more popular than he actually is, he might not be the most famous Indian politician ever but he's certainly the most hated. Vice versa, Rahul has a huge fan base (mostly the same people who hate Modi)

The bigot used to question and castigate MMS for every Indian soldier's death.

Have the sanghis forgotten that Avatar of him?

Even at the time of 26/11, he didn't support MMS, he just plied his own dirty politics.

It's so laughable to see sanghis digging out old Congress dirt, just to divert focus from their incompetence which is costing India dearly.

Congress did poor during their times, that's why they are getting punished for last 6 years.

Sanghis are ruling for last 6 years, so it goes without saying that they'll be grilled for their incompetence.

Why don't they come clean on what transgressions have taken place during their reign instead of what Congress did or didn't do 6 decades back?

New Delhi: Congress's Rahul Gandhi took on friend and foe today with a tweet, which, refereeing to the events at Ladakh, questioned, "questioned, "When will there be talk of national security". With a tweet or more a day, the Congress chief has been attacking the government since June 15 -- when 20 Indian soldiers were killed in action at Galwan Valley during a clash with the Chinese troops, who have been making steady ingress into India.

The timing and the phrasing of the tweet -- "Kab hogi rashtra raksha aur suraksha ki baat (when will we talk of national security and security)" -- reinforced the attack on the Prime Minister. The post came shortly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to address the nation in is monthly radio address "Mann ki Baat".

Sources in Mr Gandhi's office said the tweet was also a response to ally Sharad Pawar, who -- amid the Congress-BJP face-off over Ladakh -- said yesterday that matters of national security shouldn't be politicized.

One cannot forget China had captured about 45,000 sq km of Indian territory after the 1962 war, Mr Pawar had added in a remark seen as a dig at Congress. Mr Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress are partners in the Shiv Sena-led ruling alliance in Maharashtra.

"That land is still with China. I don't know if they (China) have encroached on some area now again. But when I make an allegation, I should also see what had happened when I was there (in power). If such big land was encroached upon then, it cannot be ignored. It is a matter of national security and it should not be politicised is what I feel," said Mr Pawar, who handled earlier the defence portfolio.

During the 1962 war, Mr Gandhi's great grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru was leading the country -- a fact that has been repeatedly cited by the BJP.

During an interview with ANI today, Union home minister Amit Shah said the government was ready for a debate in parliament on the Ladakh issue.

"No one is shying away from a discussion... Let us discuss from '62 till now. But at a time our jawans are fighting it out at the border and the government has taken a tough stand, we should not be giving out statement that favour China and Pakistan," Mr Shah had said.

How do you know the official line is laughable though? Are you anywhere near the LAC? Are you aware of the situation on the ground? Or are you just parroting what the 'official' media somewhere else is putting out?

It is not laughable just because it does not agree with what you want to believe, my friend.

In regards to Balakot; satellite images, US intelligence, F-16 count, cloud radar theory. So many things to disprove

Galwan: Again international neutral media sources. And flip flop in Indian official accounts even show all is not right.

Shashi Tharoor also crap.
Rahul is joke. Entire party running under fake Gandhi family dynasty.
Congress need new blood.

Rahul is a top guy but caught in a wrong job. He is a reluctant politician and being only son of Rajiv Gandhi, politics was forced onto him. Rajiv himself was a reluctant politician and till Indira Gandhi was alive, both Rajiv and Sonia stayed far away from politics. After Indira's death, Rajiv was made defacto prime minister. And now after Rajiv's death and with Sonia getting old, Rahul being made defacto leader.

This is the problem with Congress party - they never could dissasociate themselves from Nehru-Gandhi family. Its like Royal Family in UK where queen's son becomes prince and automatic choice of the throne etc. Atleast Royal Family in UK dont interfere in mainstream politics but here the oldest party of world's largest democracy being run like a dynasty is unacceptable to people.

Not a fault of Rahul though as he could have easily excelled in other field had he not belong to Gandhi family. Stand up comedy for example...he would have been undisputed king in that profession. I mean its tough to make people laugh...take years of practice for people to grasp that skill. But it comes naturally to Rahul...like in a jiffy.

"Today I want to share something interesting...[A Pause for 5 secs]...This morning....I got up at night"

Artworks like above are some of his best work which is readily available in youtube. Had politics not been forced upon him, he would easily surpass Kapil Sharma by now.

All in all a top guy who is very humble and innocent. But politics is simply not for him, sorry.

On the other hand, Modi can’t even spell strength correctly and yet he gets elected?

Exactly.

Rahul Gandhi reminds me of Bilawal. Only I doubt he is as corrupt and shameless as the Zardari family
