Pakistan cricket is on a ventilator for last few years and many are unable to find the root cause of this abrupt downfall. Since the dawn of 21st century, PCT has never been exceptional but still quite competitive. But in the last few years, the aura of our fast bowlers and team as a whole has taken a big dip that even minnow teams fancy great upset against us.

Lack of meritocracy, poor fitness culture and the complacency with mediocrity has always been there but why such sharp downfall in recent years?

To my limited knowledge as a cricket fan, it is all because of the political appointment of PCB chairman, who knows it very well that he has been appointed in lieu of political favor and can stick as long as he ables to maintain a positive image among populace. That is why we see such stupid decisions of impulsively firing big name coaches and out of proportion fanfare on series triumph against weak sides. So the fate of PCT won't change until we uproot the deep rooted evil and individuals who don't let others work with complete freedom just to save their chairs.

So in short, real capable sides are those who may lose series in build up to the world cup on trot but still manage to lift the trophy like Australia before 2023 WC. We need to emulate that model to end a poor run in ICC tournaments which matters more than random series.

So guys please share your viewpoints.

Something really fishy with all of these negative posts and vibes coming from PCB and ex-players and journalists

It’s like they are not happy with Pakistan winning the series without Babar and Rizwan against West Indies.

There was a Babar fan who was using vile abusive language every night on the match threads towards posters. He’s never banned lol

Even if PCT wins Windies ODI series, things will remain fishy. PCT must reproduce their dominant run in ICC events, in this way they can regain their lost pride and get rid of recent affinity with minnow status

Pak will never be minnow they still generate the fourth highest revenue results won't change teams still want to play with pakistan no matter what

I'm not sure how much you blame the current chairman here.

He isn't walking out to bat. Is there any players out of the side that you feel are missing out?

Our team lost a few matches and it wasn't the chairman causing a fuss. It was the fans. You can see the threads on PP where we lost some quick wickets in the power play.

If you want to follow this model that bilaterals mean nothing aslong as we are progressing for the world cup then you gotta really mean it and not reach for the lifeboats straight away.

I don't understand that why any of our head coach can persist with the youngsters, Salman Mirza and Ahmed Daniyal dumped already after one series. This clearly shows that the coaches are under pressure and want to win series to cement their positions. We don't see the same attitude of other big teams abroad. They make frequent changes and persist with new names.

England, Australia, Saffers and India never let their old guys but big names participate in every offshore LOI series

I disagree, yeah it would have been nice to see them play but the coach also needs to take a look at all players. Asia cup ( if it happens) and world cup isn't far away so he needs to test different squad compositions.

A few years ago Babar, Rizwan , Shaheen, HAris would have lined up in Bangladesh too. Its a small positive

When was the last time Pakistan had a dominant run in an ODI World Cup?

And we can't even win random series now, time to say goodbye to the liabilities within team and PCB

WI got trashed by AUS but more than matched us so tells you where we lie right now.

Is pak the mentally weakest team currently?

PCT won against Saffers, and whitewashed Sri Lanka. But still I doubt whether they have really improved or not. Seems like just pay back inspired by Dev

@Devadwal we should request PCB to hire you, instead some fraud psychologist. You are our well wisher 😀

@TheSultan @pakistani pride

Winning the way we did against SA waterboys and Sri Lanka…

Guys like @gazza619 feel we are ready to dominate world cricket like Australia did for the next 3 decades!

White ball cricket is not the problem for Pakistan. They are a decent side who can fit anywhere from 2-5 in the ranking table and can beat almost anyone anywhere as they have displayed over the last few years. There are also plenty of decent prospects in the system that can play modern cricket so talent is also not an issue for this format.

The big problems for Pakistan in white ball cricket are

1. Ever since India got good, winning an ICC tournament requires that Pak beat them in either a semi-final or a final & that's a hurdle that has been hard to clear even for the best of Pak teams.

2. The selection process and consistency of policies. There's no balance in building a core of team and adding youngsters. They either select too many youngsters at the same time in difficult conditions, or just continue persisting with older players when they are failing. The philosophy is also muddled, do they want a team with multiple bits and pieces players? do they want a team with spinners as the main threat? do they know who the best players for the jobs are? etc.

Despite that they are decent at white ball cricket and while we can say that's not enough, it's not the real issue.

The actual problem is that Pak is terrible at test cricket. A team can only get respect when it gets good at test cricket in both home and away conditions. For the longest our neighbors were the best home team but any time they traveled they lost and hence they never had the respect despite being a good white ball & home test side. The moment you start traveling well, beat teams in their conditions you get respect, money, & ranking points.

If we want to be a good cricketing nation, we have to invest in test cricket and produce results that make people take notice. Even if we don't win an ICC tournament, if we play good test cricket our cricket will survive and thrive (RSA for example).

If you don’t feel positive from recent results then you should quit following the sport

Why didn’t you quit after Pakistan reached the Asia cup final having cried all the time about Babar and Rizwan not being there? 🤡

If you ever want to judge Pakistan or any other team's ranking then always go by what happens in tournaments. In tournaments every team plays their best team, motivated to represent their countries and win trophies and ultimately bring their best on the cricket field. Hence tournaments are best judge of where a team stands.

Pakistan's tournament record whether it be white ball or red ball tournament is in front of us all. This bunch only deserves slightest of hype if they can actually do something in tournaments. Till then they are just bottom of the pile.

The way most teams especially in T20 operate is they just look at what they get out of a series. Did they discover new talent? Did they discover new strategy? Did they improve in specific area? Stuff like that. Not the series result itself As far as ODIs go it is frankly irrelevant these days as we hardly play an ODIs. Nobody remembers it.

What you get out of the series helps you build a winning combination. If your answer is long then that is something you can discuss about.
