Rank Sri Lanka's best away Test series victories

I have been looking at Sri Lanka's best away wins in a test series. For me the following series stand out.

1. Winning 2-0 in South Africa in 2019 against all odds becoming the first Asian team to win a test series in SA.

2. Winning 2-1 in Pakistan in 1995, becoming the first team to win a series in Pakistan after 15 years.

3. Winning 1-0 in England in 2014 against a pretty good English team.

4. Winning 1-0 in New Zealand in 1995. This series was Sri Lanka's first ever away series win and their only series win in NZL till date.

5. Winning 1-0 in England in 1998. This was Sri Lanka's first series win in England.

So how will you rank these away series wins?

The 2019 win against South Africa is their greatest away series victory for me. No one saw it coming and they didn't have any of their legendary players. Perreras knock made it all the more speical.

Yeah,SL's 2000 series win in Pakistan was a good one too.

Yeah, series win in SA has to be SL's greatest away win.

Yeah,SL's 2000 series win in Pakistan was a good one too.

That series SRL won the first two tests, with 1st match going right down to the wire in Rawalpindi. Arjuna Ranatunga batted with one hand to get SRL over the line.

I agree with you till No.2.

Granted this was a poor England team in rapid decline but the fact that England (despite being the team they were) thought the Sri Lankans didn't deserve more than a solitary test match in England was what made this win so special. And Sri Lanka didn't just beat them, they gave them a drubbing.

Arjuna played a great innings in that match, a bit like Jimmy Adams innings against Pak in the same year at St. Johns. Albeit, he got some help from Billy Doctrove

It was Younis Khan's debut match and he scored a hundred in the 2nd innings.
