What's new

Rather than looking at Pakistan's inabilty to perform, maybe we should praise New Zealand

I think they've been by far the best side. They've got a very settled side, and when they do have replacements those players perform too. That, in my opinion, means their tactics and plans are drilled into them in the dressing room and team meetings.

They've bowled better. They've batted better. And they've fielded really well.

Congratulations to the NZ fans. Thoroughly deserved.

No one taking credit out of NZ - whoever tries to do that is I’ll informed fool. They have won almost everything at home in last few years and many times clean sweeping visitors. Last I can recall was probably SAF over 3 years back that s visitor won ODI series there.

But, it’s not about W/L - it’s about being out classed. Forget about 74 or 1st 2 rain affected games where rain saved the blushes (for an excuse of DWL).

Yesterday, Kiwis chased 111 in 11 overs under lights without losing any wicket and from 5 down. This shows the size of gap - they can reverse their batting order and send TS & TB to open and still would have chased that 263.

Expectations skyrocketed after the CT win and Lankan sweep. There's also a general attitude we have towards NZ because of our domination for the past three decades. We see them as minnows. Which is obviously no longer the case. They're as dangerous as Australia in their home conditions and are only going from strength to strength.

Coming back to expectations, it's understandable given our imbalanced emotion towards the game. When we get on a wave, the whole nation rides that wave but it's also the same when we come crashing down. On a high, we turned a blind eye to the massive holes in our team that were always going to be exposed away from home.

We have definitely improved as a team. Our attitude on the field is much better and Sarfaraz's leadership has made us quite a resilient group. However, with Azhar, Hafeez, Malik and Rumman on the field, the gap in skill is too large for us to compete on fight and determination alone.

They are a good side, but we made them look better than they are.... heck Kane Williamson who is gully mohallah level bowler bowled 10 overs for 32 runs and picked up 2 wickets. Mashallah.

Tim Southee who averages an Indian-esque 33 in ODIs has been going through our top order like hot knife through butter.

They are good but our mediocrity made them look world beaters, which we all know they aren't.

Monroe also took wickets and bowled economically 😂

This. Pk are just poor. Very poor and NZ are being made to world like an ATG side which they are not. All the hyped batting talent of Pk (Azam) gets found out quickly and the bowlers are trash too.

No one is taking credit away from NZ. It's just that the margin with which we have been beaten is simply shameful. The 4th ODI was our most competitive match and we lost that by 5 wickets and 4 overs to spare.

Honestly dude, do you ever post anything of note on this forum? Genuine question. What we all see is anti-Pakistan posts day-in and day-out :))

On the contrary, I have defended Pk many times. But this set of players do nothing to merit defending. I call it as I see it.

Yeah, fair enough call it as you see it, but even then your negativity just for the case of negativity is rather tiresome.

There an exceptional team in ODI cricket. Its just that our team is awful. We knew it was a tough series but we should have atleast put up some fight.

In home conditions for odis, NZ are outstanding. Forget about mediocre sides like ours, they have even beaten powerhouses like Aus and Ind at home. They don't get enough credit

New Zealand are a good side, there is no doubt about that. Their top order is as good as any where as the bowling is underrated. One of the best fielding sides in the world as well. They go around quietly doing their business. De Grandhomme has further strengthened their batting as well at number 7. They will defeat many better sides then our very average one. The days are long gone when they were easily defeated, this NZ side deserves respect and to be taken seriously. They are no bench warmers.

NZ looked great

Pakistan looked horrendous

The two aren't mutually exclusive - you don't have to have one or the other

NZ were in poor form last year and struggled for a while after Mccullam's retirement. They got trashed in India by India. Only recently have they started to find some form. But our mediocrity has also helped them look better than they are. The likes of Munro and Williamson would be trashed by the likes of England, Australia, South Africa, India

In there home conditions they are a strong team which is a point I was trying to make but blind faith in our team took over. They are a good side but our weakness have been exposed. We need to do something about batting line up in the next series

That's true for every other team, barring SRL & WI. At one point W/L against IND was 65/35; 1 more win than loss over AUS (including most matches in AUS), close H2H with SAF, despite a losing run of 13/14 games .............. and 1 loss out of probably 50 against BD.

So, this decline against NZ isn't surprising actually. Shukar hai ke BCCI doesn't allow 5/6 game series against PAK every alternate year, while AUS is too bored to hammer PAK : 9-1 in their land for last 10 years. Poms are 7-3 in last 3 years and BD won last ODI series 3-0; 2-1 in T20 for last 3 years. SAF one is surprisingly close, still probably SAF ahead in every format.

Only left SRL, who probably had a better H2H when Sanga was there (in Test for sure); still one Herath has made it 2-0 in Test. Even ZIM won at least 1 game in last 4 series (one was saved by rain), including a Test. And WI won a Test in UAE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and did take the 4 match ODI series to last game.

NZ one is hurting so much because it comes after CT win and an 8-0 (irony, probably it's going to end 0-8); otherwise QeA products are matching expectations perfectly .... (Obviously, much better than Uganda & Kenya - That I can reassure with an oath).
