"Inkaar" starring Sawera Nadeem, Abid Ali, Firdous Jamal, Kashif Mehmood and 'Prince' ( Nauman Masood).
Amazing drama :14:

Oh so that's what the name was. That was an awesome drama. Every episode was great, with no boring parts at all

Historical dramas

Akhri Chattaan - Based on Islamic Historical Novel by Late Naseem Hijazi, about Changez Khan and Arab world. Akhri Chatan is the Urdu Drama TV serial telecast by PTV. in mid 80s.

Shaheen - is a legendary historical novel written in Urdu by an Islamic historian and novelist Naseem Hijazi. It details about the situation of the Muslims in Granada (Spain) in that era, when they were about to be expelled from Spain in 1492. The novel also very beautifully depicts the reasons of the destruction of Muslim's Empire in Granada.

Babur
Noor-ud-din Zangi
Labbaik

BAKHT NAMA
Pukaar
Tariq Bin Ziyad
Tabeer
Pukaar
- based on life of Yousuf bin Tashfain

Has any body mentioned "waris" and "Khwaja and sons" They are on youtube

Fankar Gali - A very indie and artsy drama. Music by Adnan Sami. Its about lesser known stage actors and their lives. It was way ahead of its time.

Khuda Ki Basti, a black and white PTV drama from 1974 was an excellent drama. Based on Shaukat Siddiqi's novel of the same name, it focussed on life at the margins for the urban poor. Urban degradation and the harshness of life for the poor are given a very human face by the characters in the drama.

Really surprised no one mentioned this:

What was the name of that drama about that villager who saves a british man from a poisonous snake who then takes him back to UK in appreciation. He returns to the village in a suit and cane years later. It was really hilarious back in the day.

I found that it was Janu german.

Janu German was the name of the character, if I remember rightly the drama was called Choti Si Duniya? really good drama..

My all time favourite drama serial was Waaris

^^Yeah, You're right, Here's a clip.

LOL !!! that scene really is a classic!

Why can't they make quality dramas like that today on the Pakistani TV channels ??? !!

Amazing to think there's more MONEY being spent on drama productions, BETTER PAID actors, more advanced cameras / technology, and dozens more channels out there... but they cant produce a single drama that is as good as the good old classic PTV dramas of the 70s and 80s.

Three not previously mentioned here:

Aakhri Chataan - Based on Nasim Hijazi's historical novel of the same title about the last days of the
Muslim rule in Spain

Jangloos - About two escaped convicts on the run and also has the incomparable Nasir Ali's last
performance before his untimely death

Piyaas - About a gaddi nasheen pir and his two sons, one modern, urbanized and educated and the other (Ajab Gul) left on the mazzar to fullfil his mother's mannat, also has the unforgettable performance from Sohail Asghar...

And also wanted to recommend Waris...no other Pakistani drama comes closer, with the acting, plot and characters...streets used to be deserted in Pakistan when this drama was on air...Mehboob Alam records arguably the best performance in Pakistani drama history as Chaudhary Hashmat and Shujaat Hashmi's leave an indellibe mark with his performance as well...

Agree 100%

Every character in Waaris was done to perfection -- from Chaudhary Hashmat right down to Chacha Hayat Mohammad.

My favourite scene is when Maula daad (Shujat Hashmi) and Dilawar (Abid Ali) come back to Chaudhary Hashmat after rescuing Anwar Ali who had been kidnapped by rival landlords.

The words from Chaudhary Hashmat : "Shaabash e jawaano, shaabash aye! tum dono cheetho kee joree ho!"

Dhoop Kinare is the greatest Pakistani serial ever. The best of the lot during PTV’s golden age.

There are some classics among the modern/current serials as well, the ones on Hum, ARY, GEO etc., but generally, they lack the charm and class of the 80s and 90s PTV serials.

This is not nostalgia because they have actually digressed from the qualities and traits that made Pakistanis dramas so great.

The Best God damn comedy ever made

Whoever recalls it, its on Youtube now, koi allah ke bande ne mera bucket list ka ek item nikaal diya

For those who havent watched, please do

This was a massive hit when it was running on tv but somehow it was lost in history. My uncle tried very hard to find copies for this but he couldn’t.

No video store in Pakistan had this in stock and he even tried to reach out to PTV for assistance.

It is quite bizarre how this disappeared considering how popular it was back then. Thanks a lot for sharing this because he is going to be extremely delighted that it is available on YouTube. I will be watching it today.

I wonder if dramas like these can be remade with the same script with a slight modern day twist? Video quality of this one on youtube is beyond poor and therefore I found it painful to watch.

Same TV quality as it back then, I think it has character
