Not the strongest of opponents, but I guess it's better than nothing. Hope that they can build on it and send the A team to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and England to play against their A teams in the future, and not just random series vs Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe A.

It's also an excellent opportunity for the curators to experiment with the pitches and add some spice, whether in the form of bounce, spin or seam movement. Please, please do not create the roads when Ramiz Raja ran things.

Next goal should be to play A teams of Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa e.t.c.

I would like such players to be selected who can represent pakistan in future not the likes of umar amin etc.who are spent forces.

not bad, 6 A team first class games running into a test season actually smells a little of preparation, lol. even if the opposition is weak, it still will help to get some of the young guys in the right mindset.

How many times are they going to play Bangladesh?

They're already playing them in a worthless series all the way in Darwin and now this.

Who even scheduled a tour in Darwin that too against Bangladesh and not one of their state teams if not Aus A.

They'll be playing Umar Amin and a few other 35-38 year olds for prep for the test season.

Good to see some games for the A-team of Pakistan. It was a missing element from Pakistan cricket which has now been taken care of by PCB. Good things need to be appreciated and it is a good step by PCB for the players out there to show some performances that the world can notice.

The next stop should be a-tour of Australia, south Africa, new zealand etc.

Well no disgrace to these sides but I guess we must bring in teams from SENA too.

Ali Zaryab has been very poor in the Birmingham league and here he is playing for PK A.

Have to commend PCB for organizing these A tours. This is what we need to improve our test cricket. Not more domestic competitions. I hope A tours against other countries are also organized in the coming years.

Boards should also look into the idea of A team series between two countries running concurrently with first team series. Kind of how Bangladesh A v Pakistan A is running alongside Pakistan v Bangladesh. I saw that India A v England A was running concurrently to India v England earlier this year. I think this is something that should happen with every test series.

This way players that are in your squad and in the reckoning for national selection get some valuable match practice too instead of just sitting on the sidelines and bringing out the drinks.

Well we had two shaheen squads at the same time one at home and one at darwin so thats fantastic pitty our quality of players are awful

Shaheens squad named for Bangladesh ‘A’ 50-over matches

• Mohammad Haris to lead the side which includes 12 players who recently toured Darwin for white-ball matches

• Three 50-over matches between Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh ‘A’ will be played on 26, 28 and 30 August at the Islamabad Club

Islamabad, 25 August 2024:

The Pakistan Cricket Board has today confirmed the 14-member Pakistan Shaheens squad for the three 50-over matches series against Bangladesh ‘A’ at the Islamabad Club, starting on 26 August. The second and third 50-over matches will take place on 28 and 30 August, respectively.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris will lead the side as the selectors have retained 12 players from the Shaheens’ side that recently featured in the two 50-over and Top End T20 series in Darwin, Australia. The retentions are part of the selectors’ philosophy of providing the emerging and domestic performers consistent opportunities to prove their mettle and stake a claim in the senior side.

Apart from skipper Haris, the 12 players who have been retained from the side that toured Darwin, include: Abdul Faseeh, Arafat Minhas, Faisal Akram, Haseebullah, Jahandad Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Mubasir Khan, Omair Bin Yousuf, and Usman Khan.

The other two players are left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz, who featured in the second four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’, and left-hand batter Azan Awais, who represented Pakistan U19 team at the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2024.

On their recent tour to Darwin, the Pakistan Shaheens white-ball squad led by Mohammad Haris won seven out of nine white-ball games. They beat Northern Territory Strike and Bangladesh ‘A’ in the 50-over matches by four and eight wickets, respectively. Meanwhile, in the nine-team Top End T20 series, the Shaheens topped the table with five wins in six games before falling short in the semi-final.

Jahandad Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Shaheens as he bagged 15 scalps during the white-ball leg while Usman Khan scored 222 runs. Muhammad Irfan Khan smashed a century in the Top End T20 series.

All the three 50-over matches between Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh ‘A’ will be day games starting at 9.30am with the toss expected to take place at 9am.

Pakistan Shaheens captain Mohammad Haris

“It is a great opportunity for the Pakistan Shaheens players to reap quality game time in back to back white-ball series.

“The Shaheens team is in good sync as most of the players have shared the dressing room and field together on the recent tour. Being the leader of the side, I’ll look to get the best out of the team and win the series which will be a great honour for all of us while playing at home.

“As far as 50-overs cricket is concerned most of our players have diverse skills to showcase in this format and we look forward to an exciting series against a strong Bangladesh ‘A’ team.”

Bangladesh ‘A’ captain Towhid Hridoy

“I’m honored to lead Bangladesh ‘A’ and look forward to inspire the team to notable performances during this series. Most of our players have experienced the local conditions and have trained well in the previous two weeks.

“The Shaheens are going to come hard at us in their backyard but we will take inspiration from our batting heroics in the second four-day match where we dominated with the bat and the players will be eager to emulate the performance.”

yeah. This is beyond understanding why he has been pushed so much even though he has been a death weight. Maybe those flukes in PSL revived him again. LOL

Also what Hussain Talat is doing there. He is even more pathetic than Haider.

Where is Mubaisr Khan (if he is not injured), And Ali raza???

Hopefully Wasim can play both games and give some decent performances I think he has more potential then Jamal to be a long term 3/4 seamer and a # 8 lower order bat

No Ali Raza in either squad. Is it too early? Maybe but he needs a taste and get a reality check of where he stands because he won't get it in the domestic game.

He should be playing in the A games, the U19 isnt what he needs anymore. Not bowling more than 15 overs in any innings.
Yeah he’s too advanced now for U 19 I would like him to play 2-3 seasons of red ball cricket there is nothing like bowling a lot of overs at this age to build bowling muscles even if the quality of cricket not the best

Yaar, nothing personal against Hussain Talat but really don’t understand why he keeps getting selected for Shaheens. Sometimes it’s better to move on and give new lads a chance.

Are there any good spinners to look forward to? All other SC teams have luxury-problems picking spinners and Pak can’t get one single good spinner?

You got Sufiyan Muqeem,Fasial Akram you also have Mubasir who is an all rounder and should have 100% been picked.
