Is there anything more cringeworthy then seeing a bunch of low life's in sunglasses, bow ties and skin fades acting like cheesy gangsters in rented supercars at a low budget wedding venue ?

Was at a Walima in Luton last week, grooms family who are were Kashmiri's from Kohtli, there were about 5 or 6 high end super cars outside in the cramped parking lot, the venue was too small for the number of people invited, half the guests were standing up, groom who looked not much older then 25 was almost beaten up on his special day before he stepped into the venue because he decided to erratically rev one of the rented Lamborghini's right next to my baby boys face while he was being pushed past the car into the venue by his mother in his pushchair, it could have permanently damaged his hearing, these guys have absolutely no brains or class, could have got really nasty but i kept calm not to create a scene but i was fuming inside the whole time!

Not generalizing here but been told it's mainly a Kashmiri thing, I have yet to see these over the top antics at weddings from people from other parts of Pakistan, some Bangladesh wedding have started to copy the trend.

My question is to posters here who are from the UK Kashmiri community,

how do you feel about these type of events?

are they accepted by the older generation in your community?

If you have rented a super car in the past for a family wedding, how much did it cost and was it worth it?

I can not only empathise but in fact relate to the sentiment of the OP.

Unfortunately, the Mirpuris have give Pakistanis, Asians and Muslims a bad name in the UK. Although there are c.5% of Muslims in the UK, 15% of the prison population are Muslims. It comes to no surprise that most of them are Mirpuris as well.

You will find most of them in the Midlands and up North, such as Birmingham and Bradford. Luton is the only Town/City in the South which has Pakistanis predominately of Mirpuri origin. Drug supply, grooming, unemployment, poor education and poverty are rife among among Pakistanis in these areas of England.

Turning up to a wedding in a rented supercar is so last season, it's all about the tanks these days. :)

See i don't have a problem with the above as it's one special vehicle leading a baraat for a very short period of time driven by a professional driver, not a bunch of runts contemplating if they will get back their deposit money at the end of the night that was paid using their uncle's credit card.

This is actually nonsense. The biggest group of ‘Muslims’ in prison are converts, and the most overepresented group are black people.

Of the millions of Muslims in the general UK population in 2011, only 5,000 were persons who converted to Islam that year. Yet in that same year "[a]round 30% of Muslim inmates are converts [to Islam...] and many of those are, according to previous Home Office research, from black" ethnic backgrounds. In 1999, it was found that in the United Kingdom "37% of Muslim male prisoners were black Muslims compared with 7% [Black Muslims] in the wider (British Muslim) population," with most Black Muslim inmates being converts to Islam. Meanwhile, "less than 1% of [British] Black Caribbeans are Muslims generally, in jail the figure is almost 19%."[7]

its an "ochapunn" thing, something a lot of Asians have, theres too much oneupmanship in all south asian cultures, this is just a weird manifestation of it.

Lol just saw a Pak wedding on my IG feed where there were like 20 Super Cars parked in a row....this was in Canada

I don't really see why it's an issue. Everyone wants to show some bling on their big day, if they don't actually have their own supercar, why not rent one if they can afford it?

All desi weddings are trending towards the flashy side regardless of whether they are from Kashmir or any other district. If it's not the cars it will be the venue or the decor. It's their money and their occasion, let them spend it how they like.

Lol its a silly waste of money in my opinion. Has been going on for years across the UK. I've even seen Indian gujratis copy the trend at times. I don't have an issue with it unless incidents as described by the OP occur, ppl can spend there money on whatever they wish. But let's be honest, nobody is hiring a supercar for a weekend to drive it sensibly lol and that's where the issue lies. It's all about trends in our community when it comes to weddings, I hope this trend dies out with time and I think it could do but probably not anytime soon.

I agree with this point, ppl can spend there money as they wish. The problem arises when these cars are being driven dangerously such as explained in the OP.

That was one incident, I assumed the topic was about showing up in flash cars at a public event, not how they are being mishandled. Do people actually fly around the car parks in these supercars regularly?

You have to feel sorry for British Pakistanis because they are easily stereotyped because of the Mirpuri crowd. You can spot them from a mile because they all look and act the same.

You don't need to really, they are living in the first world driving supercars and flashing their cash, albeit in poor taste. I would rather be in their position than living somewhere I hate in the subcontinent where you are fighting buffaloes or trolleys on the roads.

Its not just Mirpuris.

Anyway for me its a highlight of being at an Asian wedding. How can anyone hate on a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 488 or a 911 turbo? These are not just cars but pieces of art and driving this art form is better than even intimacy. People need to drive these beauties and they will think differently.

I agree with the OP though, too many idiots who cant even drive hire these and cause distress to others or kill themselves. The wedding organisers should ensure the safety of their guests. Glad the OP's family is ok.

Groom sitting on a tank!! These people from AJK are always giving Pakistanis a bad name. Hearing this upsets the Mirpuris who need to get there act together. Are Indian people sure they want AJK including the Mirpuris!?

I don't understand why people have issues with how people want to spend their own money. You spend your money how you see fit! People spend way too much time concerning themselves with others business.

A friend of mine was in Bradford at a wedding last year.

He said the groom and most of his family turned up in super-cars at this rather ordinary venue. It looked ridiculous.

He said the cars were all illegally parked and all got parking tickets :)

Thank you for this Mamoon, summed it up perfectly. Believe me their antics have made it intolerable for the rest of the British Pakistanis.

Yes they all have the same haircut with the skin fade and hold the same mannerisms.

it’s not just a Mirpuri thing, plenty of Punjabi guys are into this kind of flashy stuff.

I found these things of expensive sports cars or long streched limos in poor taste. I saw one where the groom drives in a Lamborghini into the hall to the stage.

I however find it classy when they choose those classic cars. They look much nicer and more comfortable to sit inside.

mirpuris have been stereotyped, im sure not all of them act the same. but i dont live in the uk.

pakistanis in general nowadays like to do show bazzi nothing new. although i dont think we should strictly attack mirpuris. im sure there are some good people among them as well.

I have been to some desi weddings in Birmingham which are quite loud and nosiy with these sports cars. The common thing that I have noticed is that they usually come from the rough part of town where desis of similar type live, max college graduates who dont have highly skilled jobs. These thing have ended up as a common theme amongst people of a certain locailty.

Most working class Miripuri's i know are not drug dealers, they are hard grafters driving taxis or in the 2nd hand motor trade and barely scrape a living. Just find odd the lavish spending by their younger generation in the wrong departments when it comes to their wedding day antics when you clearly are not a banker or millionaire businessman, most weddings are on the back of committees, loans or remortgaged properties these days. Unless it is considered cool and encouraged by the older generation in the community to demonstrate a false image of success that you would associate with someone using illegal or drug money, it all comes across cheap, tacky to the on lookers like me, hence the need for it to be brought up and discussed.

Personally i feel the youngsters within the Miripuri community (not all) are more out of control then other Pakistani communities and lack a sense of respect and decorum that you would associate with the previous generations that came to the UK in the 70's, 80's and 90's to settle down.

Its all that swag and charisma us Kashmirs have unlike some stuck up Kanjoos Punjabis.

And people here dishing out hate on Mirpuris /AJK its nothing but jealousy , Yes there are a few bad apples but dont generalise.

Most of these so called reputable professional pakistanis are employed by Businesses owned by people from AJK.

Nah my brother, its not something I would do but no one should have a problem with others celebrating.

One solution is. A program to immedialtely implement a positive 'Eugenics' culture amongst the Mirpuris, this may cure a lot of the backward 'anti-social behavioural issues' in around 30 years.

Might that not be a good idea for every community? Including your own?

Watch Police Interceptors West Yorkshire and you'll see a lot of these 'weekend millionaires' in action.
