[REPORT] Fawad Alam likely to be included in Pakistan A squad

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board selection committee has given middle-order batsman Fawad Alam a green signal to be a part of the ODI series against Australia A.

According to sources, Fawad will be included in Pakistan A team which will play the 4-match ODI series against Australia at UAE starting from September 29.

The middle-order batsman played his last ODI match against Bangladesh in 2015.

The 32-years old batsman scored 10,744 runs with an average of 55.09 in the domestic season.

Fawad represented Pakistan in 38 ODI match and scored 966 runs with an average of 40.25. one century and 6 fifties are credited to his career so far.

IIRC he was included in the A squad and the first team test squad when England toured UAE in 2015. Yet still didn't get to play a test. This guy is inherently unlucky.

If he was given an extended run I'm sure this guy would have been a success in tests or ODIs.

But it's not time in ODIs anymore. No space. Even after Malik goes there's Haris. There's Talat, Saad Ali too.

In tests I'd call him up ASAP though.

He'll never be a great limited overs batsman tests should be his format somehow he's played 24 T20Is aswell.
In recent times performances in PSL seems to be the criteria for selection in other formats aswell.

Good news. If he was selected and failed , he wouldn't have ever been selected for the format he is strong in which is tests. But not expecting him to be selected in tests .

More likely than not I reckon the whole story is false.

Mickey's most recent interview on here suggested he (rightly) didn't particularly rate Fawad.

Honestly i would take him over Asad Shafiq in our test team in UAE matches. Good player of spin and can score daddy.

Usman should be above in pecking order than both of these though.
