He should be concentrating on his bowling not the politics. And anyway, this guy ultimately stabbed Babar Azam in the back first.
 
Seems a lot of hope hanging around reports of him being banned for a year for "misbehaving" with the coach!

He may miss the BD series - possibly for workload as Gillespie indicated - that's about it.
 
As per media reports, Shaheen Shah Afridi has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that he will be available for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh which will begin in August in Rawalpindi.

The camp for the Bangladesh series will begin on August 6 and Shaheen will likely participate in it.

Such a shame that because of his past his brain won't be used. While the likes of Wahab will get high executive roles

This is precisely why Pakistan is struggling to move forward.

There has to be a no compromise approach when it comes to ethics. You sold the country for personal gain, you are out of the public space for good. Ethics should be non negotiable.

The cheat deserves to be nowhere near the public periphery however good he might be in analysis. No amount of talent can be a substitute for deficiency of basic ethics

He can be the best analyst in the world, but he just cannot be trusted given his history...

I always doubt his intentions, we should be ashamed of trying to re-integrate him back into mainstream cricket..

Initial discussions about forming a disciplinary committee for player misconduct during recent tours have not led to any establishment of such a committee, as per the PCB constitution.

They don't identify the exact cause and instead after getting backlash go to the other extreme as a means to solve a problem.

What had actually happened is PCB ran their premium fast bowlers aka Shaheen and Naseem to the ground. That was the mistake. You have to take care of your premium fast bowlers. But their way of handling things is to stop Cricket of almost all international first team players.

So what’s the point? This will be the excuse every time now? Avoid disciplinary action so ‘special players’ can focus on cricket? This is the reason why they always play with no accountability
 
Kirsten and Gillespie will be gone in a couple of years

the extremely overrated and entitled players are here to stay. Of course they could care less about sorting this issue out for us!

why these players are getting leverage just because they won't be able to focus on cricket. With such pathetic form who cares whether they can concentrate or not? Just take strict action against them and make them examples for others in the future.

SSA is some prima donna. Every team has players with issues with one or other players. But what SSA doesn’t have is this sense of responsibility to not act petty in public. SSA knows and acts as if he will get away with such display of pettiness in public. PCB needs to nip such behavior now or will just create a bigger mess by the day.
 
PCB and BCB are perhaps the only two boards to accomodate such tantrums from players, making them feel comfortable to repeat offenses. The board needs to be very strict here or this toxicity will continue spreading.
 
Names like "Eagle" "Shaheen" yet he bowls at a pace of Munaf Patel

I respect Shoaib Akthar, he was the most injury prone player in PCT history yet whenever he made a comeback he bowled rapid. Look at Bumrah and Jofra comeback after injury, there is no decrease in speed.

No hard work at all. Someone shared most recent Naseem's picture of him having a pot belly, it's a sad reality of PCT.

I have noticed some sort of self-obsession and narcissism in Shaheen Shah Afridi. I remember in 2023 WC game against India he was celebrating wicket of Shubman Gill by blowing flying kisses in his typical style even though team was losing miserably. In this test match against Bangladesh, he was celebrating after getting a wicket of tailender. He is playing since so many years, as a senior player he must raise his standard instead of being childish
 
I'm extremely sympathetic to Shaheen given how appallingly PCB mismanaged his knee injury, and dismissed him as captain after one series.

However he can't keep sulking like this.

People around Shaheen should tell him it's Pakistan. The captaincy is a merrygoround so you'll get your turn again provided you put your head down and perform. He's not the first player in Pakistan's history unjustly stripped of captaincy or mistreated by PCB.

He also needs some red ball cricket. People mention the drop in pace but as @Savak rightly stated in the match thread, he also keeps looking for glory balls instead of hitting a consistent area. He only played about 8 FC matches before his Test debut and it shows.

This guy is the biggest poison within Pakistan cricket. The sooner Pakistan drop him the better.

I have seen the video of this incident and it’s pathetic. Totally unacceptable behavior.

As posters have said, he has nothing going for him. Has no pace, adds zero value to the team and only causes division and more instability.

Pakistan has to get rid of these shallow and narcissistic clowns if it wants to revive its cricket.

With only 1 year of international experience under his belt he was able to demolish the New Zealand top order and if you look at the wickets most of them came through consistent good length bowling. Fast forward to now and the only trick he has up his leave is that Sharma ball nothing else

Shaheen is ultimately a representation of how low we have fallen. In a different world under a true leader, he would have by now been recognised at the same level as Starc and Boult but under the great minds of Babar and Legwan, he has become a laughing stock within world cricket

It was Ramiz Raja who advised Babar to tell Shaheen to ball that glory ball to Sharma. Since then his career is on decline 😄

Shaheen was unfairly treated during the captaincy issue, but the attitude looks silly when you're stinking it up as much as he is.

Perform first.

Although I think it has come to the point where he has to be dropped for a bit.
 
It seems getting Rohit out a couple of times was enough to get to his dumb head. Too thick now and suffers from superstar syndrome.

Needs counselling.
 
BCCI did the right thing by publicly dropping and shaming Ishan Kishan and Iyer last year when BCCI wanted to make a point. You can argue about the merits of the punishment but the message was loud and clear. PCB, if it has any good sense left, should unequivocally make the message clear to SSA (and others). Otherwise, this drama is gonna get spicier and spicier by the day.

Kamran Akmal's reaction on above incident:

Camera follows and monitors everything these days and also shows the same to the world. I haven’t seen any such thing in my life. It used to be a great motivation when any of our captain be it a junior one used to pad his hand over the players back. I also saw that (Shaheen removing Shan's hand from his shoulder) clip and I was greatly surprised too.
 
This guy Shaheen is toxic. He needs to be kicked out of the team as soon as possible or he’ll destroy the environment of the team's dressing room.

PCB must start clean-up operation by permanently removing those players who consider themselves & their brand bigger than the team. Such players are slow poison in any team. Pakistan cricket has suffered a lot in last 15-20 years because of tantrums of players like Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Hafeez, Younis Khan (in ODIs). England kicked out KP permanently without any mercy, Australia kicked out someone like Symonds due to disciplinary issues, same thing PCB must do with some players. No need to think about replacement as of now, replace them with anyone

I have bigger problems with Shaheen purely from a cricketing perspective. But what is all this dramabaazi about “misbehaving”, “attitude problems”.

There is a perfectly reasonable cricketing reason to drop him - his ineffectiveness. Why all the other dramabaazi?

So people are shocked at Shaheen's regression?

I had said on this forum 2 years back that Shaheen had become a completely rubbish bowler and people couldn't accept that at that time. They all thought he was somehow world-class.

Shaheen's downfall started the day he promoted himself to number 5 in PSL and smashed that 50. That was the day he started thinking of himself as an all-rounder and compromised his bowling. There was a post here by me explaining why his 50 would be a detriment to his career rather than an asset. And so it proved.

For 1 year, people here defended Shaheen's drop in pace due to his injury sustained in the SL series. I knew that was completely rubbish. Shaheen hasn't even been injured 10% of what Starc has gone through yet you look at Starc's pace. Shaheen completely fumbled his action and that led to his drop in pace. He still hasn't fixed his action and seems to be content in going through the motions with him assuming that he's first choice in the team no matter what.

His association with Shahid Afridi is the final nail in the coffin. Shahid Afridi has zero brain cells and is a devout politician. No good can come from his company and Shaheen got played by his father-in-law. Shaheen's career is terminal and Pakistan should look at other bowlers. The sooner the better.

As an international player, you have an image to uphold when you represent your nation to the world. Wtv issue you have, take it up behind the scene with the officials. These behaviours are also being seen by people all around the world when they play, its quite obvious clicks/groupings are happening.

T20 leagues have made players arrogant where they feel they are better off playing in these leagues vs their country.

At one point in time Umar Akmal was hot property in the T20 circuit ie BPL, CPL, SPL, Natwest Vitality blast. Eventually these leagues dried up for him and he has no takers anywhere due to which he is now begging the PCB to give him another chance.

Shaheen needs to be bought down to reality as well.
 
The problem with afridi he is a massive age fudger he's not 24. He is probably around 30 /31 yrs old and physically past it

Never had the skills or bowling acumen

And I'm unsure why other bowlers are not being tried

Mir hamza wont do any worse and that's a guy who has toiled in domestics for yrs and played In county cricket yes he's probably past his best yrs but on merit he pips afridi .

Rizwan, Babar and SSA need to be sent back to domestic cricket to re-learn team dynamics... They are all responsible for the toxic environment in the dressing room...

I am not sure why you want him in the team, seems like you have a blind agenda here... Putting players above the team is a toxic trait in itself... perhaps you need to step back and re-evaluate your priorities...
 
Misconduct should be a non-negotiable offence but PCB is quiet till now. This team is just playing for themselves atm. there is no unity in this team.

No, I don’t agree with this.

Misconduct is tolerable as long as the players are performing.

Our problems are being put down to the usual nonsense - “misconduct”, “disunity”, “politics”. These are all excuses

Why don’t we try fixing their cricketing issues first such as mindset, strategy, fitness, technical proficiency.

If after you’ve fixed all that and the misconduct is really and I mean really having an effect, then fine discipline or whatever.

Yes of course if you want to drop them on cricketing grounds, then they should be.
 
It's really sad to see his career declining this way; now I understand the importance of discipline in a cricketer's life.
 
It’s funny how every story of a fight breaking out in Pakistan has Rizwan as the hero who tried to bridge the gap or stop the fight? I mean there are groups of grown up men, but we are reported that it was Rizwan only who took the initiative to stop a fight between two hot heads.

I think if its true, it may be after masood announcing shaheen is out of team.other that I don't see the reason. If any fight,it must have been spontaneous and started by Shaheen

I think you need to learn from the past when you advocated for the likes of Iftikhar and Misbah.

Have you ever had a chance to reflect on these views and ask yourself how did that turn out for Pakistan?
 
Obviously the injury didn't help. The way the PCB & coaches managed his injury is terrible. But he needs to get his stuff together.

He no longer looks the promising pacer he was. He wants to be considered a AR due to a few sixes.

He needs to reassess his game & commitment. Pakistan desperately need him at his best but he also needs Pakistan team to become one of the best players Pakistan has produced.
 
His pace seems to be gone and it doesn’t look like it’s coming back. It’s rare for a fast bowler to come back after such a drop in pace. Shaheen needs to reinvent himself as I doubt he will feature as a long term front line bowler for Pakistan.

Iftikhar would not been as bad if he was not sent at 7/8/9 to bat. This was clearly agenda driven, if you are willing to see the truth.

Misbah is not relevant anymore.

Going back to the original point can you give me a suitable replacement who would do better than Rizwan

Its all very easy to say drop him, drop her, drop them.
 
His injuries has led to the zip going and he looks harmless. He needs to ignore the captaincy stuff because bluntly he is a bit thick and should never have been made captain( but once he was, he should have been captain for the WC). He is around 28 and should be entering his peak, and needs to focus. As UA and others have found, time waits for no one and before he knows it he will be 32 and finished

SSA is mediocre in Tests plus that captaincy fiasco under F-in-Law tutelage has screwed him up completely . He needs to junk Sr Afridi & concentrate on his bowling !!!
