The ongoing row over bilateral series between India and Pakistan has taken another interesting twist with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board president Thilanga Sumathipala offering to host India and Pakistan to play series in their land. Recently, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has insisted that despite security threats, they are ready to send their cricket team to play a series in India. PCB chairman Shahryar Khan said on Thursday alleged that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not ready to let the Indian team play against Pakistan even in India.
As reported by Pakistan Observer, SLC president requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India-Pakistan cricket series happen in Sri Lanka as there are always issues to play in both India and Pakistan. Sumathipala requested the Hon. Prime Minister during his recent visit to Sri Lanka. “I met Mr. Narendra Modi at BMICH (Bandarnayaka Memorial International Conference Hall) and conveyed the message to him to consider playing against Pakistan,” said Sumathipala.
Showing his concern towards India-Pakistan cricketing relations, Sumathipala added, ” Not only Pakistan is suffering. India is losing when Pakistan is not playing India as much as Pakistan is losing if India is not playing them”. “I have requested Mr. Modi either to allow both play in Dubai or in Sri Lanka.”
Sumathipala then confirmed over plans of playing in Pakistan and said, “There is no immediate plan this year to play against Pakistan in Pakistan.”
