[REPORT] Younis Khan declines PCB offer to coach U-19 national team [Update Post #54]

I don't think it has anything to do with money. Younis Khan isn't a greedy individual, like Misbah is.

With this case it's more to do with the fact that he preempts interference from Basit Ali.

Few years back, he threw a big tantrum when he was demoted from A contract to B.

I remember and it was disgusting treatment from the PCB, who pay peanuts compared to other international sides.

A real shame. He really could have helped the techniques of some of those younger batsman.

There are other options apart from Younis Khan

Why should YK work for less than what he feels he is worth. Dravid is paid very handsomely by BCCI.

PCB is not doing a favor to YK.Instead of trying to be cheapskate , PCB should try to pay them properly.

From what I hear, YK was asking for a ridiculous amount of money to do the role.

Surely employers will only pay employees what they think they are worth.

Aparrently Younis asked for the same package that was being given to Inzamam i.e. Rs 1.5 million. I think that was a fair demand.

Younis Khan, Pakistan's best test batsman with the best work ethic and most number of centuries is not worth Rs 1.5 million?

Not according to the PCB and that's whose opinion matters.

Just compare and contrast the BCCI and PCB. The BCCI is paying exhorbitant amounts to the likes of Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Laxman to give back to the next generation, the kind of salaries, perks, privilleges that the PCB can only dream of even matching and here we have the PCB not even doing the bare minimum.

And then we complain about the fact that we have no big names getting involved with our domestic teams, U-19 teams and A teams. They have to be paid FMV or above FMV wages

He could always go and work outside of Pakistan if he feels he is worth more.

Lol isnt that what the likes of Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib do by working in India?

Let him show what he can do and then ask for the higher salary.

He will probably then need to get involved in a coaching report with a department or a region and deliver something. But lol, they will definately not be able to pay him anywhere close to what the PCB was prepared to pay him, maybe he should have just accepted whatever the PCB was offering and then later asked for a raise if he had delivered.

Actually according to the reporter, YK was flexible on salary, what sealed the deal was the PCB refusal to make him the U-19 Chief Selector

It will be fair when all these ex-players start being honest. In every interview, all the ex cricketers - including YK - say something like: "I just want to help and give back to my country. I don't need money".

Yet whenever they are asked to do a job they start asking for handsome salaries and packages. Just stop lying and tell everyone that I want to help Pakistan but I also want a handsome salary.

Why does PCB try to lowball their players and explayers. While some guys sit in PCB offices doing nothing and still making money.

YK will get a job with other boards if he wants too, question is does it want to do it.Inzi was also working with Afghan board before PCB realized that they needed him.

YK doesn't have the people skills and in many ways he is just a Miandad clone, good technical skills but no people skills to put them across.

Inzi actually accepted a pay cut to work for the PCB. He was making Rs 1.6 million a month working for Afghanistan, he came and joined the PCB back in 2016 at Rs 850,000 a month

I don't think many Boards would put up with the drama that is known as Younis Khan.

Not sure why are you admonishing Younis Khan as a drama, if you speak to most young Pakistani Cricketers in the national team and in domestic cricket, they will all say that Younis is a role model professional and someone they look up to as a batting legend.

All about the rupees.

Sadly for many of our former players money comes ahead of anything.

Don't agree with you on that one.

You go into an interview already knowing the salary you are going to get or otherwise you demand a salary depending on experience, the work you will be doing. Also, another reason he declined is because he wasn't getting a say in selection.

What PCB does not realise, a small sacrifice could make or break a team. Predominantly, our batting is the problem, and who better to get the job than Younis who you can tell will put the time and effort in his job.

Look at his track record and all of the drama over the years.

Great batsman. Would I want him coaching youngsters, I'm not so sure.

1.5 million rupee or dollar, if rupee then it is quite a low salary and PCB is not even willing to give even low salary for YK is wrong

1.5 million rupees for active job plus involvement in selection matters at junior level is a fair demand
Can't understand why people are making it a big issue

Choti soch and a lack of a long term vision

the clowns like Basit Ali, M.Yousaf, Younis Khan should be kept away from U-19 players.. these guys have nothing to share but big egos.... shameless individuals ..
