He'll probably cost trice as much it cost to invite Sean Paul.
 
Sean Paul is nothing great but Id have him over blondie any day. Would be cheaper as well

Even though I think this won't happen, but if it does than it'll be a really good thing becuase of all the media coverage it will get around the world just becuase Justin bieber is there.

Screw the media coverage. I'd rather have someone who is actually good even if he isn't as popular as this rubbish

Just becuase you don't like him for whatever reason doesn't mean he shouldn't get invited. Him performing at the PSL will not defame the league or decrease its value so I see no harm in it.

Come on. Any publicity for the tournament will be good. They once brought katty perry of all people to perform at the ipl opening ceremony.
 
Why couldnt they invite someone like Bono ?

Even in old age, he would wipe the floor with Justin and his fans.

Will be a MASTERCLASS by the PCB if they're able to bring anyone so famous and always in the media.

This is only going to be benficial for PSL.

Nobody knows Bono and it won't create as big of an international media stir.

The objective is not to invite the most original and classy singer.

But to create the biggest media stir as possible for publicity and coverage.

I'm glad someone sane is working their marketing dept.
 
Mick Jagger actually loves cricket. Imagine The Rolling Stones performing at the opening ceremony. Would be a dream come true. Never gonna happen though

PCB is doing one thing good after ages. It's a genius whoever came up with this idea and I hope it materializes for PSL's sake.

I meant many people consider her over rated as well. Not as much as bieber though.
 
Conflicting reports about this. One would hope it's untrue. Would probably cost a small fortune which could be put to much better use elsewhere.

Why not some truly respected artist/band? The BCCI invited the legendary 'ABBA' and 'UB40' during the first season of IPL.
 
The PSL's official twitter account have denied the reports of Bieber performing at the opening ceremony.

Drake or The Weeknd would've been better if it was even a possibility but that's never going to happen, I'm just wishing it did :)))
 
This is a great idea.

This will bring in global audiences of large proportion (especially if it is streamed for free) and will get people to attend the opening ceremony.

Last year, the stadium wasn't fully packed.

Only downside, once the performance is over and he leaves, the crowd might also leave and the stadium could be half-empty when the match starts.
 
That's awesome he's a pretty good artist now compared to few years back. Good move. May even reel in a lot of Americans into mainstream music just for him.

Amir,Butt, Asif, U.Akmal and Shehzhad should perform for this song together.
 
Not happening and much rather invest that money at upgrwding stadiums and building new international training facilities in different cities in Pakistan so a player doesn't have to leave his city especially those who can't afford to do so.

Furthermore, I am no fan of Bieber, he is an annoying for sure as a person, I really don't listen to his music, but he is talented. Anyone who doubts that is simply just spouting the old man yells at cloud narrative (and I assure you I am older than you). He can sing, and actually made it because he could sing (check youtube, or any video streaming service and you will see him singing on the streets as a child before he got famous and his ego warped his mind). I don't listen to his music, but I won't blindly say he has no talent because that would be ignorant and simply yelling because I think he is annoying.

I don't know why people are opposed to this anyways. I don't think it's true, and even if it was, bringing a megastar attention to a sport would only be a good thing.

If he goes up there, sings (again this isn't going to happen, but let's hypothetically put it forward), all it does is bring more viewers and some notoriety for Pakistan, however small it may be.

He's a world famous star, and in the last couple of years he has calmed down and there is not as much controversy anymore, and anyone who thinks it would be a bad thing to have him perform would be poor businessmen.

No one in this day and age knows who they are or gives a damn about them! Bieber is a mainstream phenomena and would really elevate the PSL on a global level given his star power which is much greater then all the has beens you speak of so stop snobbing and embrace the bieber!

Reggae Rap and Ragga are a genre of its own and Sean Paul has been absolute quality throughout the early 2000's in his niche. He doesn't need to convey incoherent/senseless rhymes to advocate his greatness like some jobbers in the industry :yk2

To comply with the wishes of the PCB Bieber will perform a special set for the mostly conservative Muslim audience, featuring such hits as...

"Never say Shirk"
"I'll Show You (The Quran)"
"One Less Lonely Apostate"
"Never Let Islam Go"
And lastly

"Is it too late for me to say Salah??"

and much more

I do not know Bieber's track list, I researched them for the sake of this post
 
Good move by PCB if true

Bieber is the first artist to crack the 10 billion total video views mark on Vevo. His "Sorry" music video alone has over 2 billion views on Youtube.

Make all the fun you want but he has been nominated for 4 grammy awards in 2017 for a reason.
 
Can't they just get some Pakistani singer like Rahat Ali, Ali Zafar etc.

Why get a singer whom has absolutely no connection to Pakistan or Cricket.

Who is Bono? Is he more popular than Bieber? Whose name I hear almost everyday in contrast to Bono who I heard for the first time, and that too surprisingly in PP. PSB is looking for popularity not the better singer. So no matter how good Bono is, I'm pretty sure Bieber is more popular. Though I don't agree with bringing Bieber in. They can give a really good show without the cost of small fortunes. It looks like a good move from a business point but it would result in a lot of money gone as well as a lot of publicity.

Bono is a legend and Achtung Baby is the album I have listened to like 1000x times but you go on street in Asia and ask who is Bono. 99% of the people won't know. Do the same for Bieber and at least 50% will be able to tell who he is.

We aren't discussing who is a superior musician.

Read the reply and the thread. The world knows about Bieber and that's beneficial for the tournament plus global media coverage.

We aren't discussing who is going to sound good to your ears.
 
Like his music or not but he is one of the biggest artists/celebrities in the world and the PCB would do well to get him on board. I can totally see him making a fool out of himself and making some ignorant remarks if he chooses to speak to the crowd though.

Nah man Justin has overtaken them both since last year.

He was a joke and before 2015 and considered girlie and whatnot.

But he came into his own when he was featured in electro songs by Diplo and Major Lazer before busting out "Sorry", and others.

All 3 are popular but Katy Perry has the best music imo.

Beiber appeals to the pre-teen audience mainly so I am not sure why the PCB is consdering him - considering most of the audience will be 15-50 age group for the PSL
 
would've been a brilliant marketing move- I don't think there is another singer who would've attracted more attention for this kind of event

I guess it comes down to preference, but like I said his recent music has been very popular with adults, you'll commonly hear it now at parties and is very festive, so I guess it came down to whichever one was easier to invite.

I like both, and Katy has a bigger reputation when it comes to performing in stadiums and sports, so it's understandable that she'd probably be a bigger hassle to arrange being generally busier.
