[Reports] Pakistan captures one Indian soldier at LoC, several others killed

First Indian Army killed Burhan Wani , a protest broke out where they used pellets killed nearly 100 civilians , 100 become blind and several 1000s wounded , Pakistan was giving solidarity to this and asking for an investigation from UNHCR on both regions POK and IOK which India didnt allow and an URI attack came, then everywhere is war mongering and now chest thumping a cross border fire as surgical strike on terrorist launchpads, well if they strike terrorist launch pads why would pak Army get some Chohan sipoy...While all these happen 2 states of Southern India killing each other destroying public properties for sharing water according to Supreme Court verdict and Modi turns blind eye and deaf ears to this like he is PM of North India only...

Many things co-relate...Is like watching a movie directed by GOI...

Unlike India, Pakistan released videos yesterday showing Indian troops being killed at the border, where he was likely captured.

Pak army shelled an Indian camp and hopped over to the other side of the LoC and took away the lone survivor.

So technically it was Pak army who did the surgical strike.:jf

(Btw I said before, it gave me no pleasure to see them being killed.)

Poor soul. I hope our government will make every effort to get him released as soon as possible.

"It was all an accident and mistake please return our soldier to us so that he can abuse Kashmiris when he return and so that we can continue our fake attack on fake targets in a fake location."

Posted by an Indian on Express Tribune, I had a good laugh :))

That was a good one, finally someone telling as it is.

I myself am from kashmir :p but from the azad side. Yeah I do agree with that, they'd rather be independent than be with either country and get rid of the bs once and for all but that happening is next to impossible. So if given an opportunity to decide one country I think many will go with Pakistan strictly due to religious reasons

Thank you.

How can Pak troops capture Indian soldier unless Either Pak troops or Indian troops crossed LOC?

In other News, India claiming 38 terrorists killed in surgical strikes across the border.

Can't believe anything these days.
Indian soldier crossed LOC and Pakistan captured him.

Honestly there are more doubts from the Pakistani side.

First there was a denial of any surgical operations taking place on the Pakistani side and only cross border shooting. Then there was a big headline that an Indian soldier was captured. How can a soldier be captured if he is on the other side of the border. Both sides are withholding information and letting out half baked data to the media.

There is a gap of few hundred meters between these forces. This distance is neither too small nor too big but enough for the forces to make an incursion into the other side. An incursion of few dozen or hundreds of meters is not a surgical strike.

Hindustan Times has reported that the Indian soldier, who "strayed" across the LoC after the alleged surgical strikes conducted by the Indian army on Wednesday, was identified as 22-year-old Chandu Chavan and who hails from Borvihir village in Dhule district of Maharashtra.

The report claimed that according to a Local Marathi television channel IBN Lokmat the soldier's grandmother, Lilabai Patil, died of shock after she heard of his capture by the Pakistan army and that the maternal grandmother had brought up Chavan since he was a child after his parents were killed.

The report further stated that TV channels reported Indian Home minister Rajnath Singh saying, “The government has taken note of media reports that say our soldier is in Pakistan’s captivity… India will take up the matter with Pakistan,” and that Singh also spoke to the Chavan’s family and assured them of all support.

Pakistani media and newspapers have not verified this report as of yet and apart from the Local Marathi channel, no other independent news outlet has covered this story.

Extremely sad news, RIP.

Pakistan should let him go, he has suffered enough already.

I agree, we should let him go as a goodwill gesture. I heard he lost his parents at a very young age and his grandmother raised him.

We are humans, not monsters afterall.

My question is why is Indian media not campaigning for his release???

They were celebrating the death of 2 Pakistani Soldiers the other day and now they've gone all quiet and no debate on this issue?? just because they are ashamed of that?

Pretty sick stuff.

Please release him. i hope they do No need to extend this further.

Hope idiots who sent the poor guy are feeling suitably happy now! What was the need? And Pakistan, FGS, stop being so insensitve yourselves

The government has taken note of a soldier being captured must be one the most pathetic statement I have seen in a long while. Would you not know that a soldier has gone missing, what kind of army have they got?

This is very Sad & Painful :( :'(

Just feel for the Grand Mother who was like a Mother & Father :'(

Shame on those who did this drama of Fake Surgical Strikes and un-necessary agression.

Terrible.

Firing across the line by India is still continuing, he wont be released until there is a ceasefire and rightly so.

Chavan was returned at 2.30 PM via Wagah Border in Punjab, Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in an official statement. He will be debriefed and a special medical check-up will be carried out.

Chavan, a 22-year-old soldier from 37 Rashtriya Rifles, had mistakenly crossed the de-factor border in Kashmir hours after India's surgical strikes+ on terrorist bases across the LoC. Chavan belongs to Borvihir village in Dhule district of Maharashtra.

On January 12, Union minister of state for defence Subhash Bhamre said that Pakistan has given assurance that Chavan will be released after inquiry.

Meanwhile, Pakistan said it was releasing Chavan in a "goodwill gesture".

"As a gesture of goodwill and in continuation of our efforts to maintain peace and tranquility along LOC, Sepoy Chandu Babulal Chavan has been convinced to return to his own country and will be handed over to Indian authorities at Wagha Border on humanitarian grounds," Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Indian soldier had deserted his post at the LoC due to his grievances of maltreatment against his commanders, the satement said.

"He wilfully crossed the border on September 29 and surrendered himself to Pakistan army."

His grandmother suffered a cardiac arrest and died after the family was informed that he was captured by the Pakistan army.

Well done to the Pak army. Credit where it's due.

Shame about the soldier's grandmother though.

I am sure he has been released after all checks were made. No need to punish him if he was innocent.
