After Pakistan, is BCCI now targeting Bangladesh cricketers for exclusion from IPL as well?

Technically yes but they are one of us. I follow Cheltenham Festival very closely every year and the rivalry between Brits, Scotts and Irish is epic. It will be great to have that replicated in cricket field. Much better than Sub continent drama anyway.

Qualifying for a worldcup or playing in one should be seen as a privilege for minnows, so focus should be to on the game than pull political stunts. The strong guys will bully and get things their way. that’s the way the world works. You don’t watch the news? What do you think is going to happen if India or Pakistan take on FIFA or Olympic committee and accuse some Euro country or USA of bias? Staying in line is also an understated virtue.

Also Jersey is another team that rolls up to UK if I am not wrong , they almost qualified and they have 3-4 young talented players ready to be poached by ECB.

Never say never, if another team boycotts World Cup (if you know you know) we can invite Jersey too
 

Scotland replace Bangladesh at T20 World Cup​


The ICC has announced that Scotland will replace Bangladesh at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

It was formally announced on Saturday that Bangladesh will no longer compete in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) refused to participate in the tournament per the published match schedule.

Scotland has been called up to take Bangladesh’s place in Group C, joining England, Italy, Nepal and the West Indies.

The announcement comes after the ICC, in the absence of any credible or verifiable security threat to the Bangladesh national team in India, rejected BCB’s request to move their matches from India to Sri Lanka, who are co-hosts of the tournament which commences on February 7.

Independent security assessments were conducted from internal and external experts.

In a statement released by the ICC, the Board made the difficult decision that it was not feasible to meet the BCB’s requests so close to the tournament.

"The decision follows an extensive process undertaken by the ICC to address concerns raised by the BCB regarding the hosting of its scheduled matches in India," ICC's statement reads.

"Over a period of more than three weeks, the ICC engaged with the BCB through multiple rounds of dialogue conducted in a transparent and constructive manner, including meetings held both via video conference and in-person.

"As part of this process, the ICC reviewed the concerns cited by the BCB, commissioned and considered independent security assessments from internal and external experts, and shared detailed security and operational plans covering federal and state arrangements, as well as enhanced and escalating security protocols for the event. These assurances were reiterated at several stages, including during discussions involving the ICC Business Corporation (IBC) Board.

"The ICC’s assessments concluded that there was no credible or verifiable security threat to the Bangladesh national team, officials or supporters in India.

"In light of these findings, and after careful consideration of the broader implications, the ICC determined that it was not appropriate to amend the published event schedule.

Following a meeting on Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board had been given a 24-hour timeframe to confirm whether its team would participate in India as scheduled. As no confirmation was received within the deadline, the ICC "proceeded in line with its established governance and qualification processes to identify a replacement team."

Scotland are the next-highest ranked T20I team that had originally missed T20 World Cup qualification. They are currently ranked 14th, which in fact is ahead of competing teams Namibia, the United Arab Emirates, Nepal, USA, Canada, Oman and Italy.

It's devalued the cricket tournament and there will be a cloud hanging over it no matter what happens during it.

Kudos to Banglaesh though for standing their ground and not cowing to external pressures.

Interesting name Asap Tribe. Scots need to hold on to their lads and lasses if they want to become a decent cricketing nation and go up a level. Maybe enhanced contracts and a better pathway.

Security situation arising from that animosity .... if you want cordial relationships then your actions should be likewise . .. its quite shocking how Pakistani expect India to pretend that 26/11 , Uri , Pathankot, pulwama , Pehalgam did not happen.
 
So Pak officially is boycotting too, there goes the worldcup down the drain, hopefully BCCI will learn after losing all of the Asian audience from this worldcup and losing billions dollars probably they will think 10 ten times before making stupid decisions in future.

majority of audience is from Asian countries and Asians in western countries, here in UK cricket is a dead sport its all about footy.

So Pak and Bangla viewership is a big deal but India which brings 80% of revenue and eyeballs is the one under pressure. Wah re logic 👏🏼

Any team that feels it needs to pull out for political reasons regardless of strength is a sad state of affairs. Sport is meant to be bridge of friendship and bringing a common interest together. World is in a awful place at the moment.

BD security situation also arises from same political animosity. Millions of Illegal BD in India has nothing to do with it. BD's National team can be subject to political hatred which was displayed by kicking out Mustafiz from IPL team. So you cant say India's Security concerns were fair and BD's not

Ind-NZ and Ind-SA matches had more viewership in the 2023 WC.

Pakistanis had similar delusions when their players were banned from IPL. IPL went on, became bigger and now are buying up the whole world.

It doesn't matter what drives them to kick out. After all it is an individual contract with KKR not with BCCI. When did India say Bangladesh shouldn't be playing in India. They don't even say Pakistan shouldn't be playing in India. So stop being delusional dude

Right/wrong fair/unfair does not matter.

India provides most of ICC revenue and that percentage will increase even more as India becomes richer and further strengthens its hold over world cricket.
