ISLAMABAD: Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir, former Member Estate Capital Development Authority (CDA), has committed suicide , police said on Friday.

According to police, the former officer of an intelligence agency was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his flat.

Citing family sources said Munir was deeply upset after reports that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is filing a reference against him over restoration of a plot in F-11 area of the federal capital.

The above is the letter he wrote before taking his life because of NAB's lies and bullying tactics.

NAB is a nothing but a collection of incompetent officials being used by PTI as a tool for political persecution.

This is not a suicide but a murder, and NAB should be held accountable for this. Unfortunately, this will be water under the bridge and nothing will come out of this, apart from the fact that the country has been deprived of an honourable and brave individual.

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiyoon

Of course we know that the letter was written by him and the matter has been verified by courts.

I find it strange that someone so pushed to take his life would sit down and craft a grammatically letter on a computer, print it, and guess forgot to sign it.

Doesn't change the fact that the politicians you worship are corrupt to the core and have looted and plundered the poor country, NAB or no NAB.

I must say I find it hard to believe that someone like him would commit suicide rather then fight it out in the courts, especially if they are 100pct certain they are not guilty.

Anyone who takes their own life clearly has issues and yet corrupt individuals will use this to take pot shots.

after writing this detailed letter he forgot to sign very convenient.

How can the country advance if self-acclaimed patriots will condone corruption?

PTI was in power in 2017?

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiyoon

I thought Army Officers are above the law and untouchable in this country right?

Not the rare ones like Asad Munir who are not afraid to speak the truth.

PTI was in power in 2017?

Please allow me to rephrase my statement for a more detailed picture: NAB is nothing but a collection of incompetent officials being used by the establishment as a tool for selective persecution.

Doesn't change the fact that the politicians you worship are corrupt to the core and have looted and plundered the poor country, NAB or no NAB.

NAB is a bogus organisation designed to selectively target the people that the establishment want to get rid off. It is not about corruption. NAB does not have the power to go after the corrupt people who are on good terms with the authorities that matter.

An insensitive statement to conclude a customary naive post. There is no justice in this country once you have rubbed the higher ups the wrong way. The courts and the legal system are dummies with no real power and authority, and they have little choice but to do what they are told.

Asad Munir knew that he will get no justice in Pakistan, and instead of getting his name dragged in the mud and getting humiliated in courts for years, he decided to bow out with dignity and on his own terms. This is more than just a tragedy - it is an illustration of what the country has come to.

A respected citizen who has served the country in various capacities has been forced to take his own life because of the injustice and the bullying that is so prevalent in this country. This is a state-orchestrated murder.

To everyone who is complaining about the fact that he did not sign the letter,

even had he done so, people would have still doubted the authenticity of the letter. His signature is not public knowledge and the person who supposedly typed this well-crafted letter could have also managed to replicate his signature. Let's not ignore the elephant in the room and focus on the real issue on hand.

Who appointed the last 2 chairs of NAB?

So Mamoon bhai, are you suggesting that Mr Asad Munir committed suicide because he was an honest man who was being harassed by the NAB?

Because if that is your case, might we all ask why Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Aleem Khan etc. have not committed suicide yet as their claim is similar to the late Asad Munir's claim.

I do not wish to speak ill of the dead, however I have learnt over the years that, barring mental health issues, innocent people tend to fight tooth and nail against all adversities.

You are only twisting your own logic.

So establishment wants to get rid of people using NAB, but this guy a retired Brigadier wasn't a part of the establishment?

The only truth is you are against NAB because they caught your favourite Nawaz Sharif and now are going after your second favourite Asif Zardari. Shows where your morality lies.

PPP and PMLN used NAB for 10 years against their opponents without changing laws even when they had the chance to do. Shahid Masood a pro estab anchor went to jail because of the NAB case made against him under PMLN govt for speaking against them. Mamoon i know it's easy to blame establishment for everything in Pakistan but politicians played a major part so let's not exclude them.

People like Zardari, Nawaz, Shehbaz, Aleem etc. are guilty and thus they have no shame. They are not afraid of spending time in the jail, getting dragged in courts and facing public hostility because that is they price that they are willing to pay for their actions.

However, honest and honourable men are not prepared to deal with that humiliation. What options do you have when you are not guilty and you know that you will not get any justice in this country? No one knows how they will act in a situation like this. It is not easy to take your own life, and it is a shame that he was left with no choice but to die with dignity instead of paying a price for a crime that he did not commit.

You clearly do not know the history of Asad Munir and his criticism of the establishment. You may also be surprised that not everyone in the military bows down to the establishment, and usually these people end up retiring as Brigadiers and Colonels.

As a legal professional, I must disagree. When a crime takes place, the police is bound to investigate. As part of the investigation, you will be called to the police station, you might be even advised not to leave the country. Investigations can go on for a while.

At no stage should one feel humiliated if they haven't done anything wrong. In fact they should voluntarily participate in the process.

One of my uncle hates being searched every time he goes to the bank, is that guard searching him to humiliate him or for everyone's safety?

Also it must be noted that only the Izaatdar log of our society commit white collar crimes. If NAB had to worry about suicides being committed, it might as well close shop.

Sorry to hear.

I'll wait until the letter is officially verified as being from the gentleman in question before passing judgement upon it. I don't consider Talhat or Mamoon legit sources

Lets not allow anybody to use this alleged suicide as a ticket to be involved in corruption and not getting caught.

Unfortunately certain 'journalists' (I use that term loosely) media personalities on the take and PP posters with alleged corrupt father's will do exactly that.

Mr "I voted for PTI" Asad Munir was a jyala but other than that he was NO Mutiullah Jaan who would badmouth everything Army does. Asad Munir was proud soldier who defended Army on every opportunity , whether it was PTM propaganda or war on terror or our crackdown against terrorists. Being a Pashtun himself, he busted PTM propaganda about Pakistan Army and took on usual culprits like Mohsin Dawar.
I have interacted with him on Twitter and found him to be a genuine person. Even a night before his suicide/death, he was in pleasant mood posting sarcastic and funny tweets, how is it possible?

Now coming to this case, NAB case was filed against him in 2017 when your innocent leader Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister and his handpicked NAB chairman Qamar Zaman Chauhdary had full powers (NOT PTI as you want us to believe). His name was placed on ECL when your leader Ahsan Iqbal was interior minister, now please spare us this bull that somehow NAB has turned into PTI tool and harassing innocent doves like Nawaz and Zardari.

Customary naive post?

Ok I'm happy to put my hands up and admit here to everyone on PP that I am a naive individual. But what is your defence for making posts after posts of insensitive and pathetic statements on various topics largely aimed at IK and Muslims around the world whilst defending anything that is to do with India??

Dont you dare LET get facts in the way of a rant against the PTI.

Must have been a tough day on Mamoon when he got to know of PAF's airstrikes and shooting down Indian jets. Been itching to spew his filth against Pakistan and Muslims since that day.

Like all the supporters of these corrupt cretins, the war was more painful for them then it was for the Inds.

Those who criticise the authorities that go after the corrupt do so in order to make these prosecutors appear as not being credible. A very useful tactic in case the same authorities decide to come after them, those around them, and/or their own sources of funds and wealth.

I am sorry but i refuse to believe that a Birgadier did this just because NAB pursued his case. This letter seems false too.

May Allah bless his soul, but from the looks of it, it feels like he committed suicide out of guilt/shame.
